      @arsenalx7 I don't charge throughout the day. @@xuhwj11 Correct, but it can get unsafe to use, just like using an old version of Windows or MacOS with no security updates. Not having the latest security patches promptly is dangerous as critical patches come out monthly. Honestly, it's something people rarely think about until they are impacted. If you want to take the risk, be my guest.
      Some apps may also be designed to use specific versions of Android to reduce the support needed by the developer. If a bug appears in the OS or an app, it may never be fixed. Why buy something that in two years, will become a security risk with no support when other brands/manufacturers such as Apple, Samsung, and Pixel will support their devices for 7 or more years? Other brands like OnePlus are also easier to mod and install custom ROMs on which has frequent updates when the manufacturer no longer supports them.

      The SD8G4 is based on something other than the Snapdragon X-Elite, which is dated, probably early 2023 designs. It is gen-2 and will be what the X-Elite Gen-2 is based on. There are two reasons for this: the age of the ancient X-Elite and the court case between ARM and Qualcomm. If ARM wins and the SD8G4 is based on the X-Elite, it could be banned, so Qualcomm redesigned it. Of course, ARM saw this and has withdrawn their licenses to Qualcomm, which, if followed through, would mean they could still ban the SD8G4. Likely, if Qualcomm loses, they will pay the billions to ARM and apologise to save their business.

      @gateopssss День назад

      The battery mostly depends on the chipset and optimization. If the chipset is bad (example Snapdragon 888) and the OS is optimized, you'll get bad battery. If the optimization on the OS is bad but the chipset is good, you'll get bad battery too. There's many things to include to expect some good SOT (screen on time) from the device, and if one fails to impress, either optimization or the chipset, you'll be disappointed.

      Google is doing what Apple is and cutting Qualcomm out. This stops feeding a rival and means costs can be reduced. For example, Apple pays around $50 to TSMC to make Apple Silicon, whereas OnePlus will have to pay over $150 to Qualcomm for the SD8G4. Google is hoping to be as cost-effective as Apple. Samsung has also tried this with Exynos, but to date, they have been unable to compete.

    So, I've always had this theory and I doubt it's a huge leap or original. However, my theory is that these companies that drop new tech each year, aren't releasing tech as they develop it. They, instead, take that new tech, or major improvement, and break it down so they have guaranteed upgrades waiting for the follow iterative releases so they can continue to capitalize on the consumerist view of needing "the next best thing". I think jumps like this happen more often than we think and this chip might just have been intended for a later drop but was dropped early to get them ahead of the game again. Maybe I'm crazy, but that's what it looks like as an enthusiast.
