He is appreciated but he isn't in your face telling you how wonderful he is like some comics. He is low key, and that is probably why he is so good. He isn't a narcissist!
The bulk of his characters are all modeled after real people. I think his key talent is his observant nature and ability to turn those characters into characters.
The other half of that gift is being able to perfectly relate it to others in a way that they see it the same way he does and it's such a fun perspective to share.

There were these two young kids, a blonde haired kid and a dark haired kid who came in and one day we taught them how to play smoke on the water. They had no clue about Beavis & Butthead, but I got the biggest kick out of that!
In the late 90s my mom heard a kid yell to his friend "Hey, Beavis! Get over here!" and she told him he shouldn't call his friend names. Guess what the kid's name was.

Mike Judge is so masterful is his ability to take ordinary, everyday, mundane situations and mine the comedy gold out of them. Truly a genius, and for someone with so much wit, he’s extremely unassuming. He’s just a regular old guy. I also love how he thought that was so funny that he had to prep himself really quick to avoid laughing hysterically.
This video just hit me with a butterfly effect realization. I named my first born Daria, because of the character Daria. She's 21 now. I never would have heard that name if this show hadn't been on, and the show wouldn't have been on if this guy didn't have a neighbor that would go off his meds and laugh constantly.
This guy provided a lot of fun times for myself and friends back in the day. Miss the old MTV clips roasting. Discovered some new music along the way too.
I wonder how much crime Beavis and Butthead motivated. I had a birthday party and I mistakenly allowed a friend to invite a friend to my birthday party and that kid started doing his best Beavis and Butthead impression and he threw a glass bottle at the postal service truck and got the cops called to my middle school birthday party, but I guess Beavis and Butthead could be used as a diagnostic tool so you know who the guilty party is when they start acting like Beavis and Butthead.
So great that beavis and butthead are characters of real people. Knowing there is a real life beavis and butthead out there laughing like that makes me love humanity again.
