I love Al Gore, but the climate situation is both lethal and irreversible, and its dishonest to pretend that by reducing emissions, we can solve this. 5c-6c abrupt global temperature rise is locked in by current ppm co2 and methane. As Gore pointed out, greenhouse gasses dont just fall out of the atmosphere after a few years. They are recalcitrant. Co2 stays in the sky for up to a thousand years. We are in runaway greenhouse, as evidenced by the fact that we have already triggered a dozen powerful climate feedbacks, and there are huge stores of co2 and methane that will be released as the earth heats up. The only way to fix the climate, is to do the utterly impossible, by immediately removing 3 trillion tons of greenhouse gasses from the the atmosphere, (the removal has to be powered by only clean energy, or you have to remove a lot more than 3 trillion) and then removing and sequestering 40 billion tons annually, which is the amount humans emit annually(because humans are an uncooperative, uncontrollable species that is addicted 100% to dirty energy, and emissions are projected to increase, not decline.) Climate speakers are under tremendous political pressure to pretend that reducing emissions will solve the climate catastrophe. Their carreers would end quite abruptly if they were to admit, what I have just admitted.

Recalling my time as a self identified Green, it was a pleasant identity to have. Other Greens were generally pleasant, nice people, and inoffensive. We had this common belief that we really cared, felt a responsibility and were prepared to make sacrifices for a greater good. But therein lay the danger. We didn't regard ourselves as sanctimonious, but behind the facade of our niceness lurked a sanctimonious hubris, in that we regarded people other than ourselves as ignorant and in need of saving. It began with a love of nature, not a bad thing to have, a dislike of pollution, desolation, and contamination. But contaminated we were, we took the CO2 global warming, climate crisis narrative, hook, line and sinker, with little question, or examination ! Yes the people selling the idea buried us in data, but we didn't choose to examine, or challenge them, we were the chosen, who were out to save the planet. How many have rewatched Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth ? The first time I watched it I took it as truth, it spurred me on, confirming my belief and reinforcing my self image. Well it didn't stand the test of time, much like Greta's tweets, it's an embarrassment, the crisis failed to emerge. CVD ! Thank you CVD for opening my eyes. You revealed yourself for what you are, ambitious totalitarian, authoritarian, Malthusians, who hate humanity ! There they all were, the philanthro capitalists who sold me “ Oil will make us boil “ pushing by every means bar physically holding me down, to put an experimental gene therapy into my body, into all our bodies ! You let the mask drop, and as a consequence, I rigorously examined everything you had ever told me and found it wanting ! There is always more than one way to approach a problem, so why not employ all of them ? The problem in your eyes is us, the useless eaters, so how do you reduce our numbers ? Well if you can get them to hate themselves, which a generation or more clearly does ! Get them to identify as a blight on the planet ? And then they might just volunteer, go quietly ? Slowly poisoned by novel “foods”, novel pharmaceuticals, particles sprayed into the air, starving as the politicians who claim to represent them attack the food supply, through austerity because the oil that fuels our prosperity is reduced and removed, or better still casualties to avoidable wars. Well you misunderstood this former Green ! Yes I love nature, and I love the planet, but I love humanity too. And as for you Malthusians ? You are the problem seeking a solution, and people are starting to realise, so you’d better finish building your bunkers soon !
Thank you Mr Al Gore, you are a true hero champion for climate change. The awareness of world leaders to participate on climate actions, we may success to overcome climate issues in future.

~28:00 Cancer Alley is an interesting case, and Gore is being quite specious in discussing it. The cancer risk is from creating petrochemicals, not primarily from burning fossil fuels. To eliminate it, you would have to stop producing those petrochemicals, and I don't think many of us are willing to do that, or do something else. And even if you substituted biochemical feedstocks, which might well be possible, you still wouldn't eliminate the cancer-causing emissions. The processes need to be changed, and that, no doubt, will be much more complex than eliminating combustion of fossil fuels for energy.
Fossil fuels have literally saved and enhanced billions of lives. Rational people embrace the concept of environmental cost/benefit analysis. Irrational people shriek "stop doing that".
@@anthonymorris5084 Rational people are willing to change when circumstances call for it. Sometimes "stop doing that" applies. It certainly applied when I quit smoking 35 years ago. Sometimes you just have to see when stopping is the only way to go forward. Cost/benefit analysis now calls for a shift decisively away from using fossil fuels for energy. And rationality does not consist of specious points about what good or bad has been done in the past. the past is gone. Let's move on.
@@ronaldgarrison8478 There are no circumstances calling for the elimination of fossil fuels. There is evidence of warming. There is no evidence that warming is causing a "crisis". You want to see a truly Mad Max world? End fossil fuels. Inexpensive reliable energy generates the wealth that created the modern world. The modern world is an anomaly. It's the modern world that keeps you safe. Fossil fuels keep you safe. Warming isn't a problem, poverty is the problem and depriving people of inexpensive reliable energy generates further poverty. Smoking has no benefits. It's an addictive substance that kills you and others around you. Fossil fuels have generated incalculable benefits to humanity lifting billions out of poverty, enhancing and saving lives. A shift away from fossil fuels requires a replacement for fossil fuels. There isn't one and you can't run a modern economy on wind and solar. There is nothing to "move on" to, nor is there a valid reason to harm society by ending fossil fuel use. You've got it backwards. Fossil fuels aren't harming humanity, they're saving it.

The recent uptick in Ocean temperatures is because of the cuts to shipping pollution, which was masking the warming by providing enhanced cloud cooling. Cloud rebrightening is needed to save corals and people from heat exhaustion, which could be done by allowing ships to mix salt aerosol with their, emissions and remove soot. The addition of iron oxide aerosol particles would increase methane removal by clouds, and provide diffuse ocean fertilisation when it rains out, increasing ocean carbon dioxide absorption. that would mimic the effect of mineral dust aerosol, boosting fish stocks and ocean biomass generally.
Unless the conversation focuses on overshoot, (over population, overuse/over-development, over-extraction of resources... ) OTHERWISE we will just know and see the collapse as it occurs.
Too late! Horrible things have been happening. They are happening. They will continue to happen and they will only get more horrible year on year. Buckle up.
From what I understand it's far too much C02 for the natural systems to filter. Not to mention we are still chopping down forests meaning there's even less trees/plants to filter the air so the gas is rapidly increasing.
CO2 is why Venus is the hottest planet. We have too much CO2. It's a delicate balance we have to maintain. Plants absorb it and give off oxygen, but less and less forests and more deserts are causing less absorption.
Pay to play, perhaps? I'm aware of how climate change has made these UFO stories our only hope of avoiding extinction within a decade. Immaculate Constellation Document "The official disclosure of the existence of Non-Human Intelligences (NHIs) and their presence on Earth is a pivotal moment in human history." Does anything prove faith worthy of respect more than finding prophets & cherubim in the Yellow Pages? President Carter, informed he lacked a need to know, was left weeping from the UFO brief. He was a man of faith; Earth is owned by machines. Faith feeds followers with ludicrous nonsense: Numbers 12:3 Now Moses was a very humble man, more so than any man on the face of the earth.
A recent study has described that terrestrial sinks no longer provide a net benefit of drawdown. Also, as the oceans continue to warm their ability to store heat and CO2 will decline. This has accelerated in the Southern Ocean with the large reduction of Antarctic sea ice coverage of the last 3 years. As well societal proactive and reactive activities in regard to the escalating impacts of climate change, including international tensions and military conflicts are all positive forcing feedbacks. As such and for numerous other significant reasons, it is essential that we preserve what remaining viable ecosystems we have. It is going to be a while before we achieve NetZero and we cannot just stand by and watch terrestrial and aquatic environments unravel. In the interest of preserving what is good in both the natural and built environment while reducing feedbacks and averting tipping points, well considered and thoughtfully deployed solar radiation management, as an intervention, makes total sense.

Econ 101: supply and demand. Use less fossil fuels and less will be produced. During the COVID pandemic, the price of oil fell so low they had to pay to have it taken away.
And what exactly happened to cause this mega drop in fossil fuel use, ah yes, the entire economy shutdown, businesses and schools were closed and millions didn't go to work. Not a solution.

@terryknapp-z8b I love that channel! WASF. I actually used 6 * but for some reason it only shows 4.
Right on, write on. Thanks for telling the truth, hard as it is.
Don't the solar panels installed in Iowa require coal plants to build them in China? Not to mention transport...
That’s like saying I’m not gonna ride my bicycle to work because fossil fuels were used to manufacture it.
@@louishennick6883 No, it's like saying you're not going to manufacture more bikes, if they contribute more to climate change, resource depletion, biosphere, habitat loss, inequality ... than what you're already doing.
West cannot stay in power.
Chinese factories have long been powered by solar energy with batteries en masse. Solar panels produce solar panels. Including that it is required by law.
China will decarbonize first, at least for the health of its own people.
Now let's see what the former new blond grandfather will do, considering that he calls decarbonization a "green scam", whether he will return his own country to the Middle Ages for most, but only for the money of a handful of god-chosen sponsors.
Can't tell the truth. The ocean has not raised an inch.
It's all about the money.
Blatantly false
You could if you stopped believing BS and actually spent some time researching the subject. There is no excuse for ignorance now. Go see the Keeling Curve for some reality.
Have you talked to anyone in Miami Florida, or read anything about the Maldives?
It's so hypocritical to me that these wealthy people fly all over the world, often in personal aircraft, live in massive homes, and own several of them, yet tell everyone else how we should change our lives to help deal with climate change.
Hypocrite emissions are equivalent to non-hypocrite emissions.
Historic notes on Florida one day: Pros: Used to be much bigger and have nice beaches. Cons: Prevented Al Gore from becoming US president in Y2K.
What the hell is wrong with videographers these days?????? All sorts of slides and we don't get to see them! One important slide that gets the crowd gasping as we get to see the back of Gore's head!
U-Tube is not even bothering to show the charts during this talk
It would have been better if the editor had shown us the images and graphs presented instead of the person speaking, regardless of the importance that the former vice president of the most polluting nation historically may have.
Dear Mr Gore. Help us sequester and go carbon negative by 2030.
Yeah well that ain't gonna happen at all 🙄
Great talk! Great inspiring closing words!!
What can a lower class person do to help? What can we do on the ground? Its great to have all this information, it shows the discrepancies in the larger picture. It's a great website of information a lot of people may not understand, to tell them what they already know. How can we help? What do we do? Thank you to all those that care to fight and can make a difference on a large scale by taking action, now you have all the information you need to be able to make a difference. Thank you to those that see how important it is to keep empathy alive like a lit coal, lit and tended carefully then handed preciously from trip to tribe. I bow to those that can make a significant change right now to heal the natural world enough to stop the bolder.
I am afrad technology is not capable of helping us in time
Great Speech !!
Great work Al!
I gave up driving 18 years ago, use public transport or walk, don't fly anywhere, installed solar panels, got rid of all gas and grow as much as I can freely sharing around. What about you?
Bravo 👌👏 how far do you live from your urban center or do you not need to do a commute so many days a week? Are there trains or motorways which were built over discontinued railways?
@@toyotaprius79 It's a 20 minute walk which will shortly get longer when I move to a very well insulated granny-flat that's yet to built to my design so my daughter can have somewhere to live when the heat gets too much for her in the future. Living in Australia means no very cold winters. Not seen snowfall where I live since my kids were little in the late 80's. I'm almost 73 and retired so don't need to do more than survive and grow more food than I need to share with the wildlife that visits and the people I know in my local town.
Good for you, unfortunately the overwhelming majority of humans AIN'T doing anything to reduce their consumption and collectively we are totally doomed to near term extinction 😢
Al for Pres!!
He is only emitting more hot air and co2 from his mouth, and nothing meaningful will result.
Thanks for the great talk Al!
Thank you Mr Al Gore, you are a true hero champion for climate change. The awareness of world leaders to participate on climate actions, we may success to overcome climate issues in future.
Wonderful work. Thank you.
Inspiring as always.
What an amazing initiative climate tracer is! And in combination with project drawdown we have so much knowledge. But politics is heading in totally the wrong way!
As a Washingtonian I am glad to see Jay Inslee and proud of Washington’s progress on climate but Jay don’t say the word Fanny in front of an international audience 😅 For all the British and Australian people who are minorly scandalized, the word ‘Fanny’ here is equivalent to ‘backside’.
Very good presentations but the slide material should have been highlighted instead of the speakers.
are the presentation graphs available?
Why don't you share with your audience the nature of your not so green personal investments?
You are so right Mr Gore in my own little life i try and not buy any plastic . I buy local as soon as I retire , no car . When I dont work I walk . I help cleanup efforts where I live … the people with big power do nothing
I'm not sure about this but interesting info. Thanks.

You described the problem accurately. I doubt any of the 'solutions' you mentioned. They are all risky - and need worldwide coop.
Documentary 'Planet of the Humans ' made Al Gore look as bad as bad can look.
Unless the conversation focuses on overshoot, (over population, overuse/over-development, over-extraction of resources... )

I used to be a fan of Al Gore, but I don't recall him campaigning relentlessly for Harris and the climate during this election. 😢

Too late! Horrible things have been happening. They are happening. They will continue to happen and they will only get more horrible year on year. Buckle up.

@@terryknapp-z8b It's also a greenhouse gas.

@@biggav7434 A bit of sarcasm for levity never hurts.
The science is settled, rising CO2 causes climate hysteria.
Al gore stopped flying his learjet?
Crazy guy causing mass psychosis. CO2 is not a poison, but the most important gas and life requirement for all green plants.
Why do we see multiple shots of your photographers and next to NONE of the slides?
Pay to play, perhaps?
I'm aware of how climate change has made these UFO stories our only hope of avoiding extinction within a decade.
Immaculate Constellation Document
"The official disclosure of the existence of Non-Human Intelligences (NHIs) and their presence on Earth is a pivotal moment in human history." Does anything prove faith worthy of respect more than finding prophets & cherubim in the Yellow Pages? President Carter, informed he lacked a need to know, was left weeping from the UFO brief. He was a man of faith; Earth is owned by machines.
Faith feeds followers with ludicrous nonsense:
Numbers 12:3
Now Moses was a very humble man, more so than any man on the face of the earth.

When people say we're "addicted to fossil fuels" they are not kidding. I have a 40 year intimate knowledge of addiction. Take it from me- the world is addicted to fossil fuels- in every facet of addiction. What is the solution? I don't know, but I know that mere presentation of facts won't do it, though it is a necessary 1st step. Thank you Al Gore! Prayers.
Editing and lack of slides are just a joke.

Too bad you don't show the slides he's referring too.
This would have been so much more useful if we were able to see the slideshow along with the speakers on stage. Al Gore is understandably frustrated with his audience because most of them are representatives of extremely passive or counter-active countries and companies.
This is his Climate Reality Presentation available on that website and RUclips channel, for those who want to see the slides. You can also get trained to give this presentation yourself.
