Yeah, sumo wrestlers outside of Japan are kind and friendly... but in Japan... oof, that's a different story. Especially when it comes to relationships between higher ranked rikishi and lower ranked rikishi in the stable. Search for Koji Kitao and how he treated his "servants" who were lower ranked rikishi from his stable. He's the only Yokozuna who never won a tournament. And there's a reason why it happened. He was young and he was close to winning a couple of times before he was promoted to the highest rank... but when he was promoted, he started to feel pressure and he was treating his "servants" wrong and he even had an altercation with his stablemaster that ended in him being thrown out from sumo.

I'm japanese and I think Yama san was more confused than excited. You know, wagyu is a japanese word and the literal translation is just "japanese beef". Technically any beef from japan is wagyu so when we see westerners go nuts over wagyu we usually think 1) why are they so excited about japanese beef? Do they not have beef in their country? 2) what the hell is american wagyu supposed to be? Beef that is simultaneously american and japanese?

Yama just seems like such a genuine man with an amazing sense of humor. Must’ve been fun talking to him and spending time with him
Fun fact... Yama is one of several Japanese words meaning "Mountain". In professional sumo in Japan you get a special name to use in the ring.. often these will have some word for "Mountain" in them. Yama is technically retired and had a ring name but he dropped all pretense with retirement and just decided to go with the statement of fact that hes just a damn mountain.
The fact that Nick doesn't understand what he is say but is nodding like he understands is the funniest part
honestly awesome to see someone who appreciates food so much idk why its just very nice to watch

I have never seen somebody so excited to eat Japanese Wagyu. Yama is very wholesome
100 likes in 2 DAYS !?!?!?!? Thank you guys so much 👐
300 LIKES in 10 days? Pleaseee.. 👉👈
I'm japanese and I think Yama san was more confused than excited. You know, wagyu is a japanese word and the literal translation is just "japanese beef". Technically any beef from japan is wagyu so when we see westerners go nuts over wagyu we usually think
1) why are they so excited about japanese beef? Do they not have beef in their country?
2) what the hell is american wagyu supposed to be? Beef that is simultaneously american and japanese?

@@nightmarebg8530 there's different rankings for meat and it's quality. High quality beef are prized for thier marblings, tenderness etc. And A5 quality grade is the highest grade. US calls the highest quality meat as Prime if i remember correctly.

Yama's personality is just so cool. You'd think he's a really scary guy but he's chill and nice. Love Him😁
I noticed when Yama hands Nick things he usually does it with two hands, and as I’ve seen and read that’s because if you don’t use two hands it comes off as disrespectful (like when he hands back the blowtorch at 9:46)
Smart
The positivity is radiating from these guys, such a nice video
