Here in the netherlands we started sowing native herbs and flowers to strengthen our dikes. Their wide variety of root length creates a solid blanket that keeps the soil in place and out compete trees and other unwanted bushes that need more time to develop deep roots and on top of that it helps the diversity of insects and it should decrease the amount of maintenance you currently have maintaining the pond dikes

Good idea about keeping that feeder active. And same goes for all your equipment. As fare as the electronics is concerned any equipment with electrolytics needs to remain powered. Else the plates of the caps will collapse and short. I have two 1980 power amps that have never been off except for power failures and they still work just fine.(44 years) Except for the pots which needs a cleaning every decade. If you put working gear up for 5 years it is likely to not work (or humm real bad) when you next power it up and you will have to dig through it to replace the caps.

If you’re looking for alternative shrubs that are erosion-resistant and less likely to “seek water,” here are some great options: 1. Aronia arbutifolia (Red Chokeberry): A native shrub with shallow, fibrous roots that stabilize soil without aggressively seeking water. It’s drought-tolerant and produces beautiful red berries that attract wildlife. 2. Vaccinium darrowii (Darrow’s Blueberry): This compact native shrub has non-invasive roots, thrives in clay soils, and helps with slope stabilization. Plus, it produces edible blueberries and looks great year-round. 3. Callicarpa americana (American Beautyberry): Shallow, non-invasive roots make it safe for pond dams. It’s drought-tolerant and adds visual appeal with vibrant purple berries that feed birds. 4. Symphoricarpos orbiculatus (Coralberry): A native shrub with shallow, fibrous roots perfect for erosion control. It’s great for stabilizing soil and produces attractive red berries. 5. Rhus aromatica (Fragrant Sumac): This tough, low-growing shrub has a wide, fibrous root system ideal for erosion control without threatening the dam. It also offers fragrant foliage and stunning fall colors. These shrubs are native or well-adapted to Alabama and are safe choices for stabilizing a pond dam without risking the integrity of the structure!

Needless to say we're getting a pretty good dose of that in today's video. 😎
yes they will leap out of water for the larger forage fish. If I had to guess they're low percentage breeding might've been the reason he went with this particular group. white suckers on the other hand have been known to grow to some pretty impressive sizes and too large for the bass to eat.
They even have videos of those on here type in the search bar whites sucker videos and you're sure to come across some of them. I mean tank sized forage fish. I wanted to feed it to a goliath grouper when I saw it. That's how massive they were! 💀💧
I look forward to watching these videos. Peaceful
2:22 there is a reason people use shiners for bait. Personally I would have added more bluegill.
The fastest 27:26 on ytube. THANK YOU!
I love how you made a eagle nest
hell yeah. it's become one of my favorite features! I do think he should put some shrubbery on the camera to give some cover (they painted) and it blends really nice with the perch but couldn't help but think some added 🌳bush might do it some good.
ID LOVE TO NAME A BASS! I’ve been a fan of yours for years man since I was a kid! C could be conqueror! Or captain insano from waterboy lol hope u like one of those!
My beautiful GSP, Ginger, recently passed,
Her favorite channel to watch was BamaBass.
Many hours we spent watching episodes over and over,
Until the day I had to hold her over my shoulder.
I spend days now thinking of our history together,
No matter the day, the night, the weather.
Everytime I get a notification from your channel,
Love and gratitude fill my heart to the ultimate level.
BamaBass, Thank you for the Entertainment and Memories.
--The Late Great Beautiful Ginger Alexandra Reinen and Joshua-
Sorry for your loss. My wife and I are retired, and we also love watching these BamaBass pond clips.
Cleaner for our spirits than the sex and violence in current programming!
Need to add northern pike or tiger muskie
Two of my favs 🏆right there! 😎 both natives of Wisconsin where he goes for the gorgeous world famous aqua blue stone. adding either of these would be big homage to the north 💯💯
Have you thought about adding some Hybrid Striped Bass? I did that in my pond earlier this year, and my kids have loved catching them! Stocked them at 5-6" about 7 months ago, and they are already about 12" long!
One of my fave youtube channel, very educational and high quality videos, thank you! Also will you name one of the bass as MrZog please?
Can wait for smallies! Up here in Canada that’s mostly what we have for bass. I am curious to see how big they grow in a warmer climate.
For the Bass Names could u name one Bananas for B or Crazy for C. I like Daisy the duck for the unnamed ducks name. Love your videos man! It’s awesome to watch the growth of all the different animals
These sound like a perfect addition and something I'd be interested in for my pond
Love the videos. Seems we are always learning something different in each video which is amazing. I definitely think the elusive peacock bass would be a cool addition to cedar falls
I wish had some of them shiners to cast off the pier here!! Great job your doing love the mower!!
Bass names for those without names:
Bassanova, Catch22, and my favorite, NotoriousB.A.S.S
Bass names:
Ala-Basster
Sebasstian Bach
BASSnectar
Bassket Case
The AmBassedor
Thanks for all the great videos, BamaBass! My husband and I look forward each week to the updates, especiallly the wildlife cams!
One particular species of fish my children and I enjoy fishing for is perch. You mentioned adding another to the pond. Try adding some jumbo yellow perch. The kids should enjoy bobber fishing for that.
In one part of the pond, you should plant reeds, it cleans the water well and is perfect for spawning and growth of young fish.
When you catch them without tags, it's amazing.
Put a bunch of guppies or mollies in the fish tank, they reproduce quickly and can be used to feed the bass
So looking forward to the live feed. I'm subscribed to a few different live eagle cams. They are laying eggs in the Florida nests now.
Y for Yuki! great videos been following from the beginning!
Hello from South Africa. My partner and I just love watching your videos. According to us you are living the DREAM! I always say "If I win the Lotto, the first thing I do is go visit at BAMABASS. Thank you for sharing the dream with us. Always in our prayers. Merry Chirstmas.
Great decision! Hungry fish with huge amount of bait equals bigger fish sandwiches! Can't remember if your pond gets ice over the winter?
Dorothy the Duck because "There's No Place Like Home" ❤ the videos and keep up all the great work! Thank you and have a happy day!
Have you looked into putting Grass Shrimp in the pond? They are a good food source for bluegill. Not many people know about them.
I've been following along on this channel for years now. I think The TERMINATOR would be a great name. Or T1000!!I love getting notifications that you have posted a new video.
I’d think “Boomerang” for the ducks name 😂 always coming back to the pond❤
Good idea about keeping that feeder active. And same goes for all your equipment. As fare as the electronics is concerned any equipment with electrolytics needs to remain powered. Else the plates of the caps will collapse and short. I have two 1980 power amps that have never been off except for power failures and they still work just fine.(44 years) Except for the pots which needs a cleaning every decade.
If you put working gear up for 5 years it is likely to not work (or humm real bad) when you next power it up and you will have to dig through it to replace the caps.
I'm not a fish guy, but I'm a sucker for a diverse ecosystem! We need more people like you creating cultivated safe zones for wildlife.
Wow, so much fun. Priscilla for ducky. Blast, Edison, Ingrid for fish name. I can't express how much I enjoy your channel. My eye sight has been diminishing for several years now. Just to hear the sounds and your narration is so comforting and enjoyable, thank you.
12:41 i am SO jealous of that giant group of pitchers!!!
Love seeing the Epic Blow outs! For Letter “A” name one Alpha 🎉🎉💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
A - ANCHOR
B - BEAUTY
C - CHASTEEN
E - EXOTIC
I - INDAGO
N - NATALIA
U - ULYSSES
X - XAKERY
Y - YAMAHA
Maybe one or two of these will work. Keep up the amazing work!!!!!
Great pond project, pretty amazing
I’d highly recommend getting a circular polarizer for filming fish over the water. It will reduce that glare substantially
Ducks have huge personalities! N for Nosferatu. Love the channel!
If you went heavy on the prawns you could most definitely do Red Drum for the big fight of the pond
"Nugget" for a bass name would be neat. Fiancée and I love to watch the updates on these ponds! I'm personally really interested in ur bait nursery project.
For the letter B - I suggest Baldwin. As a Mobile county native, I watch your channel from Virginia. A little pun in your pond 😊
Remote Grass cutter is absolutely revolutionary and culture killer haha
Love the addition of the new bigger shiners. Can I name a fish?
Ursula for fish name 💜
My 8yo son suggests 'Brightbill', from the movie 'The Wild Robot' for the name of the duck!
If you’re looking for alternative shrubs that are erosion-resistant and less likely to “seek water,” here are some great options:
Avril is the momma duck from the cartoon Tom and Jerry. Would make a great name.
I think it will be a good idea to build a big waterfall somewhere for more water streaming. It will wash away some of that water dust.
I've not seen the pond since it was completed wow it looking great
You should look into yellow perch. Typically found in the north but can be found in Alabama.
22:15 BASS NAME:
Meezy
(fishing was the favorite hobby of my childhood best friend who recently passed away so i know he would get a kick out of a fish with his name that could be caught and bring joy to people like fishing did for us.)
Love 5 Acre Pond videos!
