One thing I'm very glad to have done is to vote for parties like Action SA and BOSA so that thinkers like Mmusi, Dr Letlape, etc can go to parliament and raise the quality of debate. I think he's right in that these parties must coalesce and put their heads together to leverage a bigger influence on our policies

Additionally, I appreciate his grasp of South African dynamics - particularly the point of there being different South Africa's from an experience point of view. What I am always left wondering is why his "vibe" doesn't resonate with most South Africans. On paper, he feels quite perfect.

I often took Mmusi Maimane as a " Jimmy Come Lately" kind of politician. Since getting elected into parliament, I've come appreciate his place in this new GNU era . I like his honesty and purpose. Certainly a big departure from those giddy false promises by greedy and corrupt ANC elites.

Politics is praxis. Mmusi was pushing for reform in the DA his vision 2029 that he launched in 2015 was problematic to the DA brain trust. It was a paradigm shift. He acknowledged that in the past DA had to balance the ‘fears (read protect privilege) of the minority & the aspirations of the majority (read trickle down & expectation management). His vision 2029 was targeting the prosperity of the majority & redressing historic wrongs. DA haemorrhaged support to FF+. When John Steenhuisen became leader he pressed reset button. He said Mmusi had moved away from its European base. And boom FF+ electoral fortunes waned & DA was sole beneficiary.
South Africa's problem is making the mistake that economic policy must be driven by treasury...We have failed to present clear leadership in terms of microeconomic interventions...
If there was any fairness in the world we live in Maimane and Vusi Thembekwayo would be entrusted to govern South Africa. Despite having voted for the liberation party since 94, I respect these guys.
