Grew up in Texas and joined the Marines at 18. My parents were immigrants and I felt a calling to serve growing up in Texas. Traveled the world, went to combat with the Marines, lost good Marines and friends in combat. At 36, I came back to Texas with my wife and 3 beautiful children. During all my time traveling the world, I always missed Texas and yearned to come back hoke. Recently bought a new home in Texas and happy to be back home. ❤

George grew in Pearsall outside of San Antonio. In fact he now lives in a mansion in San Anton. He gave a great tribute to Mexican Legend, Vicente Fernandez. King of Mexican Country music when he died. He sang EL REY (The King) in impeccable Spanish. Honor from one king to another.
I have seen his mansion in san antonio. Same neighborhood of spurs coaches and athletes. I do uber so i picked up rider in neighborhood he lives in. His mansion has a helicopter pad. He is so humble.
my husband works at 93.5 country radio station and they cant rate his show because he plays traditional country music ,,his ratings are above the board,,,he gets calls across the globe for requests,,bless you all for that,,sundays from 6am till 12 noon
One night had just came home from a date and had not really enjoyed the evening. Well I had got all cleaned up for bed. And decided to turn on what was country music television. And this came on it really ended my night on a very nice note. Then I know why I liked this song so much because I found later who wrote it. One of my other favorite artists Merle hanggerd. Thank you George for singing this and thank you Merle for writing this song. Oh if anyone wants to here Merle hanggerd version you will enjoy it very much.

But there is a lot of us in our 50"s and 60"s that grew up listening to a mix of 40"s to 70"s County and it was what a lot of our parents and other relatives listen to so there is an appreciation for traditional County. And nowadays we have lost so many of the County artists we grew up listening to and there is just a few that still do traditional County. But it was back in the days when you had to due two concerts in the same night. Also I know the hole story behind it all and I don't blame you one bit. Politics always get in the way if you know what I mean. Bakersfield still loves you !! Anyway we went to see you in Las Vegas a few years back and you still got it. I seen George Straight in concert in Houston Tx.two times.The first time I seen him was the Coolest at the end of the show he rode around the Arena on a white horse.it was then I got to meet him shake his hand give him a Big hug and give him one Sweet Red Rose...George Straight was so Damn good I had to see him again second time was just as good cause I got in for free. to see another Awesome show. Rafael Solano Texas is not the south. It's considered a western state. The culture in Texas is so much different than in Tennessee,Alabama,the Carolinas and Mississippi. Many Texans don't even want anything to do with the south,because of it's racist past and the Klan activity there.

I love the song old sea shores of Mexico by George Strait since the day I first heard it. Alot of people don't know that it was written by George's and my other country hero the late Merle Haggard. George Strait has so many other great songs. If you like this song you might also like one of his older songs off one of his first cd's Blame it on Mexico.
@George Strait I have only seen you in concert 34 times, lol 😆 !! I'm Big fan. I'm 55 years old and I went to your concert in Bakersfield sometime around 1986. I don't remember the exact year. But it was back in the days when you had to due two concerts in the same night. Also I know the hole story behind it all and I don't blame you one bit. Politics always get in the way if you know what I mean. Bakersfield still loves you !! Anyway we went to see you in Las Vegas a few years back and you still got it. I hadn't seen you in concert for probably 10 years and when you returned I thought I better go see ya before you quit for good. I'm glad I did. You played all the oldies and all my favorite songs. You even did an old Johnny Cash song. We loved it and mis seeing you play. God bless you and your family !
