An example of one of my favourite times on two fort was when I was playing keep away with a pyro on the bridge, taking advantage of the fact he couldn't air blast my bombs back. I knocked him back and saw two heavies, a soldier and a medic coming from the top. I then ran back to the end of the bridge, cannon jumped over the bridge and charged behind them to delete the 5 of them before running back to spawn on 50 health. It's hard to explain how much joy I felt in that moment and the best way to describe it is how I imagine a charged creeper feels like when it sneaks up behind you to succesfully blow you and your house sky high.

All this just makes me wonder what could have been If Heavy won the Update: Perhaps we would have ended up with a Heavy with a whole new Subclass and more advanced tech.
I mean Pyro didn't get that much depth in the jungle inferno so idk if heavy would have... Sure, the dragon's fury is an incredible game changer and I really like the way it changes the class, but I wouldn't call it a new subclass or advanced tech sadly
a whole melee revamp for heavy which turns him into a reverse demoknight, instead of going for picks and ambushing he sits in the middle of the battlefield absorbing damage and turning it into bonus damage and speed, jumping around saxton hale style or just buff the steak...
Ah, just what I was looking for today, a 1 hour and 11 minute video explaining every single intricate detail about the Demoman from the war-themed hat simulator TF2's large assortment of shield-based secondary weapons. Excellent.
Tbh I think that heavy has one of the most underrated weapon selections. For example; Brass Beast, Panic Attack, KGB. The rapid Panic Attack switch speed makes it convenient to swap to the KGB to finish enemies off for easy crits. The Brass Beast naturally synergizes great with any shotgun because it dramatically off sets the downsides of the Brass Beast, due to improved repositioning and mobility.
I used to use that loadout until i vrafted my KGB into A GRU and then into a holdiay punch! But i instead used the family business (the family business is marginally better than the panic attack except for pyros, demos and soldiers in damage and it is much better at range because of the panic attacks more wonky spread.
Hey Solar, you don't remember me, but back a few years ago I found you in a Halloween server and dueled you out of the blue. You accepted, and ripped me a new one. It was a fantastic time either way and is one of my highlights of my TF2 career. I've had TF2 uninstalled for quite a while now and in the middle of my burnout you uploaded this guide. So, even though I'm a Demo main, I've always wanted to get into Demoknighting but every time I do I end up getting like 2 kills and 20 deaths. Watching this video and using some of these tips (the jump charge one especially) just improved my gameplay tenfold. I was able to jump on an Uncletopia server and rack up to 10 heads each round consistently, it gave me such a rush that I haven't felt in years. To make a long story short, thank you so much for getting me back into one of my favorite games ever!
this video was honestly a blast to watch. even though most of my playtime is spent with medic, it's still really fun learning about everything this game has to offer with it's other characters. kinda makes me appreciate all the things i know about my class and my love for all the little details and mechanics that make this game really fun to me, which is what matters at the end of the day. wonderful video!
Was cool to learn about how demoknight movement tech works. My favorite quirk was charging up very steep slopes without shield bashing. Some points for the stuff that's related to rocket jump technicalities (one short and one long): 39:44 It's just hardcoded 30 u/s for all classes, no percentage. Unless you're charging I guess. 25:22 It is in idea 20%, but the problem is that it scales your whole velocity down to 120% of walking speed. You might think that your velocity is purely horizontal whenever you jump off flat ground, but TF2 applies gravity at the start of the tick no matter if you're grounded or not (6 u/s of downwards velocity). You don't see this with cl_showpos while standing still because at the end of the tick it removes all vertical velocity if you're grounded. The result of the gravity is that your speed (velocity magnitude) becomes a tiny big higher than your initial speed that was purely horizontal. As a consequence, every component of the velocity gets scaled down a bit more than intended, slightly hurting the final horizontal speed. The full calculation goes like this: new hspeed := 1.2 * maxspeed / sqrt(hspeed^2 + (-grav)^2) * hspeed. Manipulating the terms shows that your real horizontal bunnyhop speed is off by a factor of 1/sqrt(1 + (grav/hspeed)^2). The lower your horizontal speed is (still above walking speed), the greater the difference will be. The factor is always above 0.99 though, so it isn't really noticeable.

That end of the video really made me feel proud of the way I play heavy. There's a reason "Fat Scouts" are usually funny and insane to watch. Being a Heavy who utilizes the little movement he has to it's full potential to fend off against rockets, stickies and flying scouts and beating them all with stupid ass shotguns, while letting go of your main class tool, the minigun, along the beloved lunchbox items. Is it practical? No. Is it reliable? No. It might be better in very specific situations, but overall, a much worse standard Heavy will often do better than you being a god Fat Scout. But BOY IS IT FUN, specially when it fucking works. I'll never forget that time when a Soldier showed up as I was fleeing at 7 health with my shotgun and managed to somehow dodge the blast of 4 rockets and beat him down with 5 shots, like the truest form of Fat SCOUT. These are the reasons people plays niche "subclasses", not because they're good or reliable, but because they're fun. Being the underdog and winning is and will always be a morale boost, along with being a fucking ton of fun. Hell, even movies got that right I may not learn how to become a godlike Demoknight, but I can now understand those who do a lot much better
Yeah, this is the stuff I like to learn. Something I'll never use, but Solarlight is just so entertaining. I actually still appreciate Solar for making that controller video. I kinda main controller cuz I grew up with it since I was 5 years of age. So when I hopped on, and people took notice I was using one, it was actually great to see people be nice to me for once. Normally when I use controller on PC, people say a lot of mean things, but the TF2 community has been pretty accepting of it ever since Solar's vid. Forever thankful for that.
The effort put into this video is wonderful, and I especially love the opening card of the Shield Bash segment. The tiny detail of the screen shake actually made me very happy. Keep up the good work.
As someone who's mained demoknight for about 900 hours, this video is 100% one of my favorites. Thank you solar light for inspiring me to be a better at the silly subclass
Man, I loved the iceberg part slightly predicting stuff happening after it. That was definitely a cool thing. And the 1 hour landmark. 1:10:36 Proof that all TF2 RUclipsrs have developed a glue snorting addiction because of the lack of updates
I dont know if this is strange but i just feel the need to praise this video for how absolutely perfect it is in my mind, in a youtube environment where shorts and slop are so prevelent videos like this stick out, the video is so fun and engaging to listen to, even tho ive never played a minute of TF2 in my life its so encapsulating to learn about all these different techs, and to see them in action and how cool they look. Often times when im working on small personal projects of my own it can be very tedious and boring, and videos like these that i can turn on and listen to in the background help a absolute bunch with keeping the boredom at bay, i love this video so much that i feel as if im obligated to give you a small tip of money for your work, thank you and please keep making projects like these, because they are incredibly entertaining
Nice to see stuff like strafing explained in depth. I've got maybe 400 hours of tide turner gameplay and have figured most of these things out from trial and error over time, but I think I'll be able to up my gameplay now. Thanks again for another great video!
9:46 Don't worry Solar, I too have a thumb thing people often freak out about. I have what's called a "double joint" at the base of my thumbs. Where my thumbs meet my palms, I have an extra joint I can slightly bend outwards in my palms' direction. Every time somebody's seen me do it for the first time, they freak out cause they think my thumbs are broken, and then I have to explain to them that it's just something I can do.
@@trbz_8745 They didn't when I was a kid pal, not to mention the fact that the reason I went out of my way to explain cause there's multiple types of double joints. Maybe think about that next time before you rush in to be all "lol bro" about it.
Thanks for this video solar and thanks for also listing the music involved. I wanted to find the song at the TRIMPING section and despite having never heard it before, managed to pick it out of the list first of all the songs you used. I guess a combination of it being between 1/2 and 2/3 through the video and very heavy sounding (and of course lots of luck) made it happen
I used to think that it looked bad that my pyro hours were 3 times that of every other class but after seeing your hours I feel better about having way more hours than anything else.
The thing about demoknight is that i understand how it can be fun and cool, but i just main normal demoman and hybrid knight because just running around rapidly swinging your sword at people screaming feels too boring than to be an explosive maniac shooting 2 grenades at a group of people and only leaving 2 people with 10 hp left, its just those high moments that i live for in demoman, that’s why i love the class.
I'm sorry, I didn't really catch all of this; my smooth brain was too busy picking up on *_all of the games_* you took tracks from for this video. I don’t know what he was sniffing before that round, but I want some of it.

…I think you got the wrong vid
@@stanthetree4865He is talking facts tho

14,222 hours on a 15 year old game equates to about 2-3 hours of Team Fortress 2 EVERY DAY for 15 years. Wow.
Props for captioning this entire video. Much appreciated. 👍

this video was honestly a blast to watch. even though most of my playtime is spent with medic, it's still really fun learning about everything this game has to offer with it's other characters. kinda makes me appreciate all the things i know about my class and my love for all the little details and mechanics that make this game really fun to me, which is what matters at the end of the day. wonderful video!
Time to watch a 1 hour video about Demoman pressing right click with a shield
I WAS ABT TO SAY ☠️
Wasn't expecting to hear Bloons TD 6 music at 10:40
Was cool to learn about how demoknight movement tech works. My favorite quirk was charging up very steep slopes without shield bashing.
Some points for the stuff that's related to rocket jump technicalities (one short and one long):
39:44 It's just hardcoded 30 u/s for all classes, no percentage.
Interesting. Thank you!
I got curious about all the various steam names he used in this video, so I decided to write them all down(including joke names in demonstration clips).

Hell, even movies got that right
I may not learn how to become a godlike Demoknight, but I can now understand those who do a lot much better
