This is a good small car. I have a 1.3 6 speed manual version which only had 22500 miles (36,000 km) when I purchased it. Great to drive round town, good on the motorway and one of the best cars I've owned.
I dont think they made manual versions in US sadly. This is one of the few “kei” cars that made it to US market. I love small 2doors, its a shame how the US has such horrid taste in vehicles.
@@aegisreflector1239 yes plus other things that include preventative maintenance. Generally you can find the preventative maintenance that needs to be done in the owners manual and it should tell you the mileage it should be done around too.
With the 1.2L turbo-engine from the Corolla, would be great. The 1.3L has 132 N⋅m (97 lb⋅ft) at 3800 rpm., the new 1.2T has constant torque of 185Nm (136 lb⋅ft) between 1,500 and 4,000rpm
Ok hear me out... This is in the same ballpark as the iconic 80s Honda City Turbo II. Like the fact Toyota blessed us with essential a modern-ish Honda City is so cool to me.
About the transmission. In Europe, you could get a six speed manual in a 1.33 and 1.4 diesel both iQ and Yaris. And the sixth gear wasn't meant for high top speed, but rather to improve the fuel economy
I have a 2012 with a Tanabe front strut tower bar and oversized Yokohama tires, love it. If you really wanna go nuts there's a coilover kit from Megan Racing, a Wilwood big brake (front) upgrade, and there's even a supercharger kit that boosts the power 50%! I'm in the States so I'm stuck with the CVT, although it doesn't do that annoying fake-shift bs that other CVTs do, and will hit 60mph in under 10 seconds. Definitely jelly of the manual. Handles like a go-cart!
That sounds absolutely mental 😅 I would love to take all of that info and make a mad project car out of one of these! With the supercharger version preferably
OMG it would be the perfect car for me right now, soo sad because it probably won't sell outside of japan... now i want one, but I maybe have to go for the Yaris GRMN ....
You can always get the regular IQ and do some suspension tuning yourself. They didn't do much with the GRMN version as it's using an optional 1.3L engine from the regular IQ.
@@vraatzucht thanks for the feed back! I’m trying to choose between ND 2, used 370z and grmn, really hard discussion! Is Grmn any good for my only car?
The 1.3L iQ in europe has always disc-brakes also on the rear, it's not so special for the GR-MN. I use the 6th gear al lot, especially on the motorway, on the cruise-control, at ~120km/h. I changed my 175/60 R16 5J ET45 for a set of 185/65 R15 6.5J ET38, better stand, more choice in tyre-sizes..
Great pictures.Really Enjoyed this Video looks like so much Fun!
Thank you!

I also have a 2012 and it's been the best car I've ever had if you take care of this car it'll last you practically a lifetime
By take care of do you mean things like oil changes?

I would love a modern version of it...
Yeah would be great if Toyota redid it!

I have a 2012 IQ. I love it. In city living it's a must.
That's awesome! Glad to hear you say that cuz it's such a great car 😃
man, I love your aesthetics. definitely the most delightful to view of all the videos I found on yt regarding toyota iq so far
Thank you so much! Making our videos easy on the eye is definitely one of my goals 😅
I love my 2012 IQ. Such a fun car to drive.
I'm jealous that you own one 😊
so cool! I recently bought a regular iQ
i'm jealous you've even got the regular one. what a great car 😁 enjoy!

I sure wish they would bring them back

@Zabnorg I just got my 2012 back from my nephew! I'm trying to find way to add some HP!
@@vwrxlasvegas K&N in the box air filter is what I use, not much else to be done other than a tune
the 6 speed is actually standard on a 1.3 iq so not a specific grmn modification
Ahhh thank you!! I messed up 🤣
Can I convert my 2012 with 6 speed?
I own a 2009 one, my first car. I love it. I just wish I could find a white spoiler somehwere! Any idea what wheels they are?
thank you
Thank you for watching!
I want to buy this car! But unfortunately it's not manufactured anymore! What the pity!
why not buy used 😁
@@TokyoShutterSpeed lol because I don't really trust on second hand's car lol
I have a red one and LOVE ❤️ LOVE IT but I need a new one. And unfortunately silly 😫 people they stop producing 🥺😩

OMG it would be the perfect car for me right now, soo sad because it probably won't sell outside of japan... now i want one, but I maybe have to go for the Yaris GRMN ....
Yeah there was only 100 made in total so even in Japan it would be tough! Yaris GR sounds epic though 🤠

Yeah you're totally right. You could tune it easily. Those stickers tho....
I got a Yaris GRMN (117/400) myself, really worth it! But this little car looks equally amazing! I want one. :-)

Have you tried eBay?
@@TokyoShutterSpeed yes but i'm not seeing it
so these are the ones that make 120 hp ?
I have managed to fit 5 full size adults in my IQ lol
Haha woah! I hope you didn't have too far to travel 😂
How is it tuned? Supercharger?
It's actually no different from the regular iQ engine which was kinda disappointing tbh, biggest changes are to handling!
The 2 door GR Yaris.
Lol
if its gr why isnt it lowered? lowering springs cost like a 100 euros
The suspension is revamped and tuned. Lowering isn't always necessary ☺️
@@TokyoShutterSpeed well youd think GR would know that lowering a car is kind of necessary.. is this a real GR? 🤨
