Your video has been a Godsend to me, having followed it stage by stage to replace the clutch on my IQ. Your work is impressive and thorough. Thanks for your extra effort in filming it so comprehensively to help those who are willing to try for themselves, or take the reassured route of using your services, well done. At 65, there was no way I was able to lift the gearbox back up in place, but with a bit of help from my spare jack, and some wooden blocks, I managed to get it there, that was the moment when I said to myself, "you've cracked it". Many thanks again Kevin 👍
52:43 Thank you sir. I was after the guide of how to adjust the clutch thinking it is the same manual linkage as aygo/c1/107 and now I know I only need to bleed the line as it is hydraulic.
Myself that has worked on cars and still do while on my drive i have big respect for you doing this work and in a couple hours aswell the thought and tools needed to do it sometimes can be a challenge it self.👍
I’ve had the pleasure of doing one of these IQ clutches myself. Two of the rear bolts holding the subframe in span the captive nuts inside the chassis leg, I had to cut open the chassis leg and weld the nuts back on 😫
Best car videos on RUclips. I can see your professionalism and dedication, your inspiring. Keep up the good work brother. Will spread the word with your business..The lord Jesus has blessed you in your craft.. keep it up..
greetings Kevin from sunny Queensland Australia , good to see working in the sunshine , i have watched you many times working in the rain and sleet , i have done many backyard clutches , love your work mate ,cheers .
Wow...the smaller the car the more work. So you video is about 1hr 22min long...how long in real time did it take you? You're like a clutch ninja...no wasted movements and so specific. Awesome videos!!
This has been an amazing help, thanks! If you would want to make it better, some commentary on what parts you're working on. Sometimes I'm a bit lost where you're working.
The alignment tool is just to hold it in place while he bolts it to the flywheel then the clutch pressure plate holds the clutch tight the part he takes off the gear box is what disengages the clucth plate as you change gear.
it would be said in my country how he likes money William always working friend one joke but I see you as a professional in your work my friend cordial greetings atte
Please let me know if you can help, i have a toyota iq 2009 automatic 1l, it has slow acceleration and then it drives fine, sometimes it accelerates just fine from stand still, so im thinking its something with the gearbox not changing gears or something with the low gear, because once it gets to like 20mpg it picks up fine. Please let me know if you have any suggestions 🙏
Hi Kevin is the method to change the clutch the same on both 1.0L and 1.3 models can you change the clutch on the 1.3L by dropping the subframe as well or is it completely differant.
My God. My wife has one of these and I'm glad she has the CVT auto. I've changed a few clutches in my time and have one coming up on my Nemo van, but they were all pi$$ easy compared to this. Good job fella 👍🏼 👏🏼. Subscribed. And just to add, that car does less than 750 miles a year on average. Amazing. But how did the clutch need replacing on little over 9000 miles? Someone must ride that clutch lol
hi again Kevin , that Toyota IQ , man what a daft bit of engineering that is , named after the low IQ of the makers , and oil leaks , uggh cheers mate .
i want to ask a question. You know when you put the clutch on and then when you start putting the gearbox back on. When you start putting it on does the clutch inside the gearbox move when your putting it in so that the gear box sits. Like i mean when you try and put the gearbox back on. Does the clutch move by it self so that it sits even if youve titened the clutch bolts? please answer my question i really want to know❤❤❤❤
Jesus ! That Toyota has got to have the most number of non-structural protective plates, studs and bolts to remove before you can actually get to the point where you can release the clutch/gearbox assembly. Haven't Toyota heard of an all-in-one slide off cover plate secured by a couple of bolts ? This underside has been designed by engineers, if not AI, using the principles of Value Analysis ? Blow that ! The design could do with some Formula 1 pit-lane service input ! Never seen anything so complicated before . . . . . . -un-inscrutable ! Afterthought One wonders whether the hidden intent of the manufacturers was to make these cars "Throw-away" . . . . VAG tried-on the concept of the "Sealed for life gearbox" some years ago, so main dealers wouldn't touch the gearbox, even if it developed an oil leak, because it wasn't on the official maintenance schedule and they risked putting their franchise in jeopardy if they did ! Another trend is that Main Dealers now only replace faulty items with a new stock item , rather than repair - I presume they do this because its less demanding on workshop resources , is more certain of getting a 100% result and most importantly doesn't jeopardise the franchise. The consequence is that mechanics are being reduced to button-pushing diagnosticians and fitters. Stand-by for a bit of GreenPeace intervention.
Hi. First thanks for your video. It's really awesome to have people like you to take the time to share your work. Incredible work. Second I have an IQ pretty same then yours and I'm not sure of the nature of the problem.
Hi there. Looks like the clutch has just gone on our IQ....im a third of the way through and contemplating tackling it myself...im a biker - done a fair bit, engines out strip downs to frame, renovating, some electrics that kind of thing....ive got a good array of tools including impact driver to remove the drive shafts....are there any special tools needed and, how long did the job take? Brilliant videos as well! Another question just to make sure its the clutch....in the last week or so the pedal is at the bottom (almost - cant get it into reverse) as its a hydraulic clutch there is no adjustment i assume so its gotta be a worn clutch (or could i just be fluid loss maybe) its done about 43k but we do live on a steep hill on a steep driveway and my wife never listens and doesnt let the engine warm up and revs the shit out of it to get it off the driveway!! :)
Hi Kevin...could i just ask one question - could i ask at 1.09 you squeeze some oil in what looks to be a hole in the side of the bell housing...what fluid is that and how much....got my clutch on order! - many thanks and i really do appreciate the time that youve taken to go through it all!

Your knowledge of all the different makes of car is very impressive. Great videos, a joy to watch a maestro in action.
Just done it with your video in parallel, perfect, nothing to add and nothing to threw!! THANKS !! (from France)

OMG that's a total PITA!
OMG. Respect 🙏🏼
Is that something that broke there and had to be welded? Or are the captive nuts just prone to breaking upon fastening etc.
I've had that hassle with vauxhalls and mondaos what a performance
Merci pour ce partage complet et clair et quel travail sur place sans pont! Respect.
Amazing work. Thank you for taking the time to setup all those shots.
Kev is the legend any weather any time any place what a geezer, much love mate enjoy watching be safe my friend
Thank you so much for making this video. I'm going to change my clutch on my car tomorrow! Cheers from Sweden.

No the clutch is bolted to the flywheel and he uses the alightment tool so the splines are aligned

good job 👌 nice
thumbs up from me mate 👍
Why do you always grease the bolt holes on the gearbox? To prevent squicking or is it against corrosion?
To stop corrosion. And dry rust.
What's is the name and brand of that 90 degree cordless electric wrench anyone know?
👌👏👏👏👏👏
pHD in Clutchology impressive - I was thinking disposable car - lol
Like renault senic 👌 u do the best
petite voiture mais il a du boulot !!! la boite est aussi grande que le moteur !!!

So called professional do the clutch in 7 hrs

Bet you don't even need a jack for that just lift it up and turn it over lol
Can't believe the amount of disassembly required for such a stupid little car
Ouhhh.. 😀
Same as any other car but packed in to smaller space, quite a clever little car really.
@@gavdcookuk512 I don't agree all those covers, hydraulic clutch pipe removal, and complete removal of subframe
All vauxhalls are a subframe out job exhaust off every bolt rusted solid mondaos as bad as well
@@RoyDavidson-g7g Took 30 minutes to change the clutch on my father's Vauxhall back in the day, only required 2 spanners and an Allen key
