James, you and your partner do such a great job on these videos. I can't imagine anyone not wanting to hop on a plane to share your love for Spain and its food culture. Thank You!
My father was born there, and now I live so far from there. I always cry when I see pics or videos about one of the most beautiful cities in the whole world: Córdoba.
I got a four month scholarship for a university in Córdoba in the 90s. I went there from Hungary. I agree with you. That place is magical. If I won a lottery, next day I'd move there. Córdoba es un sitio especial. ❤️🇪🇦
Nobody does it better . You guys are simply the best . Every Spaniard is so proud of you . You deserve an award for excellence. Well done you both. Keep up the excellent work. Big hug
“It’s curing all the wounds in my mouth “ 😂 Priceless... congrats again for the wonderful video, guys. You’re so much fun to watch. Cordoba is magical!!
What a beautiful city, filled with yet more Spanish wonders of food. I like snails and that cute little snail gave up the ghost in a very enjoyable ending....delicious. I am amazed by the variety of food and wine ...always something new
Excellent video. Love your work and Córdoba is one of my favourite places. I live in the campo near Sevilla and no matter how many times I visit the mezquita it gives me goosebumps. Your love of this country, the culture and the food is lovely to see. It can't be easy doing this professional a job. Well done both of you.
My wife and I ate at Taverna Salinas tonight. We live in New Mexico and my family came to the new world in the late 1600’s. The dishes we ate are the same that were brought over which my mom cooked while she was alive. Especially Reno de Toro and the arroz con leche.
Same as Julie - only had them once in Paris in butter and garlic and parsley sauce. Was heavily intoxicated though so not sure if it even counts... Let us know how it went if you do decide to go ahead!
Berenjenas de Almagro, my favorite tapa. I was raised in a small village of La Mancha 20 kilometers from Almagro. Jamón ibérico and queso manchego y a disfrutar!!!
I LOVED Cordoba! My husband and I were there for 24 hours on 19 May, and were pleasantly surprised about how historic and beautiful the city is. Ate through a few tapas places, but the one worth mentioning, I think is Casa Pepe de La Judería. We had Mazamorra con dulce de pera y piñones, salmorejo, and bacalao a baja temperatura, guiso de sus callos y garbanzos. Crazy good all of it! Would love to go back and venture more. The patios, la Mezquita, the bar scene in the Juderia, and more, make it all the more worth seeing it, and eating throughout the city.
I absolutely love you guys. I listen to most of your videos several times. I never get bored of them. It reinforces so many things I may have forgotten or I notice something I may have overlooked when I watched the video the first time. Love what you do for us. Great job.
Here I am watching this video again and again. I was in Cordoba in October 2019, but next time I visit, I will travel by myself. A family group is fine, but I didn't see what I wanted to see and we did not eat there. How can anyone visit a beautiful place anywhere in Spain and not experience the cuisine...doing it solo next time.
I was there in early October 2019, but we didn't stop to eat. I was with a small family group, and they didn't want to eat. I will go by myself in 2022, and I will do whatever I want to do, and go wherever I want to go.
Honestly my favourite RUclips channel. I love that you go to authentic places and not just the tourist traps. I'm working as an au pair in Castellón over the summer and your videos are getting me more excited ;)
I watched at least 25 videos in 2019, and many for the 2nd or 4th time. I visited Cordoba in 2019, and all your videos of Spain (Andalusia area) helped me a great deal. Thank you. You guys are always great. Keep doing what you do..(July 2, 2021)
I adore snails. I am still in love with the butter and garlic sauces. Las Caracoles Restaurante in Barcelona is a favorite of mine. My husband watched as I had 3 separate small plates delivered to the table. I tried them all but still veered to the more French version. When I visited Cordoba with my boyfriend and his family, we ate at a small place outside the tourist area. Salmorejo blew me away. So creamy and hearty, even in the Cordoba heat in May. It reached almost 47 degrees in the afternoons. (116+ fahenheit) when we were there. Besides Salmorejo we were served a dessert called Naranjas Ancianas. Ancient oranges. Gorgeous, sweet, spicy orange slices, peeled and drizzled with light olive oil and dashes of cinnamon. I still serve it to this day.
Keep selling me on coming on over to Spain , Mr. Blick. These videos just boost me along and it's working, I just can't bring myself to settle for where I am now. Spain is no longer an idle dream but a real opportunity well within my grasp. I see myself retiring there.
We are traveling to Andalusia in February....I'm marking all your recommendations.... We are planning to take a Devour food tour in Seville. Your videos are excellent in content and delivery and your wife is a great counterpart to the whole experience... Cheers
Good video again and great idea to mix the food with tourism , sightseeing and the local architecture. I would recommend you to keep this way. Even for spanish people like myself you can discover new places and gastronomy. Cheers!
Rabo de Toro My favorite, you dont see much Mahou beers down there, love the Caracoles down there, Cordoba fantastic city, small and nice people, love the video
James this my first time visiting your blog. and you and Yoly are amazing. I am Cuban and live in the US all my life and have never been to Spain, but my mother did years ago and it is exactly like you describe it. Thanks for the video I really enjoyed it especially the food part. Will be watching you again.
Hola chicos.
Hi James. I stayed right opposite the famous cathederal mosque years ago. I was a cheap skate and checked it out in the morning when it was gratis entry. Amazing mix of separate cultures. Not surprised a food outlet next to the city's biggest tourist attraction wasn't top notch cuisine. However the tapas food looked amazing! One of the dishes reminded me of the old favorite counter meal at pubs, steak and chips. I'm sure the taste of your meal was a little more exotic. lol Love your tapas crawls. Feel sorry for both of your distended stomachs but envious of your wine soaked livers. Just got back from Vietnam where there's plenty of tasty food but I do miss Spain.
Loved Cordoba. Ate a lemon Gelato on the Mosque wall and watched the world go by. Ate bulls tail stew ( and baby eels) in a Flamenco Gypsy cave in Granada. Had Salmorejo several times as well...very tasty and filling.
I gave the cabrillas a try a couple of days ago in Sevilla and they were yummy. The trick is on how good the sauce is. A bit daunting but definitely worth a try.
PEACE-LOVE-TAPAS!!! Gracias por sus vídeos chicos...I enjoy every minute of it...Córdoba is on my Spain list for sure...About los caracoles: I LOVE them!!! One of the most underrated foods of the world!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Another great video - filled with nostalgia for me. Thanks. I wish I had had your tapas bar guide last time I was there. and next time I’ll try to be there during caracoles season. 😀
Bit of a history about the Mosque at Cordoba as told to me by my Spanish friends: When Cordoba finally fell, under Isabel and Fernando, the order was to level the mosques. Spanish engineers pled with the Catholic court to allow them to keep it for 10 years so they could study how it stood up. The building is enormous, the size of 2 football fields. The Spanish court allowed this because the engineers told them that they could build larger Catedrales. After 10 years, the engineers said they still were still s the veracity of the building as a feat of engineering and architecture. The Court allowed them 10 years more with the codicil that they be able to make it into a cathedral. To test the veracity of the building the engineers scooped out the center of the building, expecting it to fall down. It didn't. And that is why you walk through the dark, cool praying places of the moors, through the areas that were used as Jewish Temple, and you come upon this Cathedral in the middle, flooded with light.
I wish I was where are you are now! Well at least in this video! I love tapas! They’re so fun to eat...all little dishes and delish!...that with a good crisp and tasty beer sounds excellent! Great places you both went to ...awesome! Thanks for sharing! Cheers 🍻
Hello! I’m Mexican/ Spanish/Italian /French and live right next door to Mexico in California . I’ve never seen anyone eat a Taco the way Yoli did? Lol, most of us here eat it side ways like your hisposo did sweet Yoli, so it’s not so messy! Glad to see they have Yummy looking Tacos there!🥰 Buen Provecho! Can wait to go to Spain! Victoria Caropreso
Once I manage to get back to Granada, as soon as my house is in some order.. I'm off to do some of these in Cordoba... a place I seem to pass through a lot for work, but never have time to stop!!
James - video topic idea - can you speak about the common practice of sharing dishes, especially salads? It took me some time to get comfortable watching half a dozen forks hitting the same salad I was having when I visited friends...family style!
I ran into Señor Santos in the street near plaza Tendillas, about 10 years after our last visit to Bar Santos, and he was visibly older, but he remembered my face , and that I was from California! Sharp dude. I imagine that he sold his bar, and you are right, the tortilla was not the same as it was when he was there.
Cordobés guy here! About the snails some people don't eat them whole, only the outer part. It has a whole different taste and texture than the insides and not everybody is a fan of that part.
A mi particularmente no me gusta nada.
Amigos, ¿ Por qué no dedicas unos capítulos a descubrir las empresas españolas innovadoras, en moda, en I+D+i, en conservas, en diseño de muebles, etc. ? Gracias
Thanks for your visit. Hope to see you back soon! Next time try Taberna San Cristóbal or one of our Michelin star restaurants. And of course continue enjoying this magical city.. 4 times World Heritage!!!!
Spectacular. The choices are so authentic, the food delicious. I am so very grateful that you throw in a few Spanish words. I will learn and eventually could perhaps manage the local bars and restaurants for that truly memorable experience that you suggest.
James, you and your partner do such a great job on these videos. I can't imagine anyone not wanting to hop on a plane to share your love for Spain and its food culture. Thank You!

And the Mosque! I brought people there who had never heard of it. It is a peon to building architecture.
Yes it is
@@acspeter7 why if you won the lottery? It's cheap there just go
Cordoba is my favorite city in Spain. Truly special

From a Cordoban living abroad, thank you so much guys for this video!

The climate is dreadful, like.living in a pizza oven but it's a lovely city
“It’s curing all the wounds in my mouth “ 😂 Priceless... congrats again for the wonderful video, guys. You’re so much fun to watch. Cordoba is magical!!
Me encanta el cristo de los faroles. Lo más bonito de Córdoba
The food and the sites - wow - but the X-Factor with this channel is the obvious warmth/love the two of you share.
What a beautiful city, filled with yet more Spanish wonders of food. I like snails and that cute little snail gave up the ghost in a very enjoyable ending....delicious.

I love Cordoba but the food is overrated and very disappointing

Guys! Have you ever tried snails??? Would you? Let us know in the comments below
yeah in morocco, the name of this place in cordoba? cheers
It was called Caracoles Los Patos 1
Yes, I would. I've only eaten escargot in butter and garlic sauce. I'm a Floridian so eating mollusks isn't a problem. We eat conch, for example.
Same as Julie - only had them once in Paris in butter and garlic and parsley sauce. Was heavily intoxicated though so not sure if it even counts...
Let us know how it went if you do decide to go ahead!
No thanks! I use snail in my skincare though.
"curing all the wounds in my mouth" yes! A wonderfully poetic and revealing turn-of-phrase :-) .......
