There's a word for that you know. The gold in your wedding band could have been part of Caligula's stash. But you take the gold, beat it, heat it and hammer it. It's like new. The word for that is Fungible

I remember hearing somewhere a while ago that if you could gather all of the gold that exists on Earth into one place and smashed it all together, it would be a cube that is only 50 feet on each side. I guess that was an underestimate, lol. Even a cubic foot (that is, a cube that is one foot on each side), would weigh an astounding 1,204 pounds.

It sounds like the Romans would have been into putting gold leaf on food, lol.

Gold is also found in catalytic converters on vehicles. This has resulted in a pretty broad and significant issue with they being stolen. I would also like to add their may have been a roman coin found in Belton, TX. This is about an hour north of here in Austin. It may have been carried by an "unladen swallow".

I thought it was Platinum that was found in catalytic converters, which is worth even more than gold.

I'm pretty sure most of the gold in your smartphones and jewelry was mined recently and wasn't melted down from old Roman coins.

Enough gold to create a large replacement golden member for Bigus Dickus after an unfortunate smelting accident for time traveling Dr. Evil to defeat Austin Powers. 🤪
Note: You will need to have seen both the Monty Python's Life of Brian movie and the Austin Powers in Goldmember movie to understand this joke.
