I’m from Mozambique and this video is great. Maputo has really amazing places but so much of it is neglected and in dire poverty. I just noticed though that in this video there’s a lot of mistranslation and miscommunication, and to be clear she does NOT earn $1.68 a month, that was completely miscommunicated. Even from what she says afterwards about her bills $10+ monthly, it doesn’t make sense and frankly no one earns that much, and it’s impossible to live on that a month. Almost all really low-income earners earn atleast $1.58 a day(3000mts a month), so I firmly believe that’s what she was referring to.
Thank you for clarifying. The UN defines "extreme poverty" as making less than $2.15/day, which approximately 9% of the world does. I knew there must've been some kind of mistranslation going on because $2.15/month doesn't make any sense whatsoever, even for the poorest countries on the face of the planet.

@@IndigoTravelleri couldn’t honestly say I truly understand. I live a simple life in an off grid cabin surrounded by nature. A few milk goats , a pack of dogs, and little to complain about. People who know some of the painful things I’ve gone through in life sometimes send me messages of sympathy. I laugh and send them a video from you. Some panicked mothers and malnourished babies with flies on their faces. Beautiful women selling themselves and men so overwhelmed they abandoned their families. I don’t cry often but I usually do watching these videos. I wish I could adopt a whole village of these children. For yourselves being totally immersed in this country after country, it must be like getting spiritually beaten . The good thing is you actually help them, so I pray for blessings upon you brother.
No one is earning a salary of $1.60 in Mozambique. In the video, at 0.39, the person mentioned "stealing cameras and phones," but the subtitles incorrectly translated it as "threat with guns then run away" Maputo, the capital city of Mozambique, is known for being one of the safest places to live, with friendly people and a welcoming atmosphere. Although the economy may not be strong, the residents are generally happy. With a quick quora search you can see reviews from real people living in the country
This was quite insightful. This nation and its people seem to have a sense of awareness and desire to advance in ways that aren’t always the case for a number of other impoverished countries
Small correction; Without context this quote is very false. Democracy in places where democracy is actual democracy is not a mirage (some corruption more or less will always exist in all countries, so that can be taken out of the equation), but in countries like Mozambique democracy is definitely a mirage.
Learnt something new in this video from a very distant ancestral homeland. I am glad to see you made a video about Mozambique, it simply doesn't get mentioned much at all ❤
Lovely to see you back again on your travels. Hey Nick! I’m from Brazil. I was missing your videos. Thanks for the return. Mozambique is a tipical country of Africa: beautiful Landscapes, but with many difficulties, especially regarding the government, but with tough and resilient people! It’s amazing to see they speaking the same language of us brazilians. Abraços do Brasil.
I have been to Mozambique twice, once crossing from South Africa then from Zimbabwe. The first thing which comes to my mind is a huge corruption, even on the border crossing. This country is hell and heaven. You have places like north and Maputo, but you as well have beautiful beaches like in Tofo. Amazing country, it is a pity that it is in such a crappy situation. For us, Europeans even from former eastern block (Poland) it is unbelievable that such a poverty is possible.

Oh I love Mozambique - I visited in 2003 and stayed at an orphanage there in Maputo. The poverty is confronting. We visited the garbage dump where the poorest of the poor live. Heartbreaking. But Iris ministries is doing fantastic work there providing free schooling and food and basic medical care, as well as looking after ‘orphans’ so they have somewhere to sleep and are clothed and fed. Many have parents but are not living at home. It’s a beautiful country facing so many difficulties…

The return! Might be too early to say, but I'm curious if this'll be the beginning of you doing videos on multiple countries in southern Africa? Personally, I've always been really fascinated by Lesotho, largely due to its geographic uniqueness (Exists completely within South Africa AND the entire country is higher than 1,000m in altitude) but there's also been a lot of political turmoil there recently that I don't feel like I see covered enough.
It's so sad when you have some random guy coming to your country and talk rubbish. So, the most important thing you saw here is poverty, crime, economic crisis and all sort of bad things. The saddest part is to see that you have a mozambican guide going along with the same agenda😮😢

The legendary man returns to us. I hope you enjoyed your time off and break away from filming. Good to have you back! Cheers!
Thank you!
Yay! You're back! I was honestly starting to worry about you. So happy to see a new video.
Finally - the long wait is over! We missed you!❤️ So happy to see you back in action, travelling and sharing stories 😊
Much love!
After his Ghana shocker videos we've gone thru a long dry spell. Glad he's back in action.
Soo so happy you’re back! Can’t wait to see what’s ahead! I’ve always been curious about Mozambique, glad to see you’re covering this country, Great video as always! :)
Trust me, the country has much more than this to show. He highlights the negatives to where it seems biased. As a Mozambican, I can assure you this place is a lot better than it's being portrayed here.
Hey Nick! That manicure was epic! The store owners are really friendly and down to earth. 💯
These are among the finest videos online today. So well made, so well edited, excellently narrated and fascinating to watch. This is what television should be like. Thank you so much for your efforts Indigo Traveler.
Glad you’re ok! It must be heavy on your heart what you do. Looking forward to the consciousness expansion your travels bring 🙏🏻
Thank you for your understanding :)

OMG YOU'RE BACK!!!!!!! I was looking for you the other day and noticed you hadn't posted in a while. So glad you are back man!
This was quite insightful. This nation and its people seem to have a sense of awareness and desire to advance in ways that aren’t always the case for a number of other impoverished countries
I love Mozambique so much. The people have many trials, but the country is so incredibly beautiful and the culture rich.
Definitely!
You 're back!! We missed you!
"Democracy is a mirage". No truer words spoken there. Glad to see Nick back from the dead. Hallelujah.❤️🙌
Great quote.
Small correction; Without context this quote is very false. Democracy in places where democracy is actual democracy is not a mirage (some corruption more or less will always exist in all countries, so that can be taken out of the equation), but in countries like Mozambique democracy is definitely a mirage.
@@TheMixxon2 What world are you living in? A magical fairy land where lobbying and oligarch don't exist?

Learnt something new in this video from a very distant ancestral homeland. I am glad to see you made a video about Mozambique, it simply doesn't get mentioned much at all ❤
Thank you for watching!
Missed you. Thank God you are back 😊
So glad you’re back! This was a welcome surprise.
Thank you, great to be back!
That was a fantastic watch! You came back with epic footage!! Stay safe! May your journeys be blessed, always x
Cheers!!
Lovely to see you back again on your travels. I hope your recent break has done you good and you've been able to process the horrifying and traumatic things you were witnessing previously in various places. We all learn so much about our world from what you do, and it's good that you provide opportunities for people to do a little bit to support positive initiatives in places we would otherwise never hear about. Bravo!
Thank you Nick!
SO SO HAPPY to see you back 💗💗💗💗💗
Beautiful!
YAY!!! YOURE ALIVE!!! Welcome back!!!
Good day! Pls help me
Glad to see you back in action. Enjoy your videos.
Um abraço de Portugal para o povo Moçambicano. Espero que possamos cooperar mais no futuro e que os problemas possam ser resolvidos. Desejo tudo de bom para a terra onde a minha mãe nasceu. Great video as always❤️. I’ve been traveling to Brazil a lot over the past two years and have been studying Portuguese. I just recently learned that in Mozambique Portuguese was the language spoken and so seeing your video today it was cool hearing people speak and actually understanding them.
Just got a chance to sit down and watch. You're probably one of maybe 3 channels that I'll wait till the perfect time to sit down and watch your videos 😂 you're the champ nick ! Much love from the US.
Thank you Tim!

"If you call a country democratic it doesn't mean it is"...totally agree with that guy 👏And so glad you're back Nick. looking forward to seeing more episodes of this county.
Democratic means that the people select the Government.
Unfortunately, many countries claim to be Democratic, but it is an illusion and Farce.
Welcome back Nick. Keep the fire burning !!!

Good to have you back!
Great video, I truly enjoyed this like I usually enjoy the rest of your videos. you should definitely come to Angola. it's also a Portuguese speaking country and like the richer younger brother of Mozambique. plus, it's a really beautiful country with lots of amazing people. too bad corruption is the backbone of almost every African country, but we are slowly waking up and one day Africa will rise and be the powerhouse of the world.
Nice to see that you are back!
Always fascinating to see your content. It's interesting, sometimes sad at the same time, but nice that someone discovers these hidden places of the world.
It would be great to see you for instance give 100 dollars to that lady that was struggling since youre making money at the end of the day at her expense. That could last her a whole year by the sound of it. Such a small chunk of what you would make of a video like this. Please take note.
So happy you're back man. Thank you for featuring Mozambique. Can't wait for part 2.
As a Spanish speaker it’s weird for me to hear native Mozambique people speak Portuguese and understand their words.

Lesotho would be fascinating!
Welcome back, it's been way too long! 🎉🥳
I can't express how thrilled I am to see a new video from you after your hiatus.
So glad that you are back creating vids!
It's so sad when you have some random guy coming to your country and talk rubbish. So, the most important thing you saw here is poverty, crime, economic crisis and all sort of bad things. The saddest part is to see that you have a mozambican guide going along with the same agenda😮😢
Well you want him to ignore these realities? How do you plan to fix it if you won't even acknowledge it?
Welcome back, my wife and I looked forward to seeing your videos again. Always good stuff!

$1.6 salary per month, how? Iam from Mozambique and minimum salary is $140 per month
Great to see you back, definitely missed you’re videos but I hope you enjoyed some time off!
