Subsonics aren't lightweight. They're heavier to compensate for the fact that they're moving slower. 9mm fmj is usually between 115 and 130 grains at an average velocity of around 1250fps. Subsonics are always heavier, usually between 145 and 150 grains and travelling at approximately 1050fps. 9mm also isn't a "small" caliber.
Alan Ritchson could easily play a younger version of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin. The way they talk and their mannerisms are very similar plus they look pretty identical in the face although their physiques are completely different.
95grain 9mm bullets…. Every subsonic round I’ve used is heavier! Basic physics. Yes, you download(or change powder), but you use a heavier bullet in order to slow it down…!

I do love how people think it’s impossible to not be on the government’s radar or in a government system somewhere. As long as you don’t get into trouble, don’t touch social media, don’t drive but take a bike or pay in cash for taxis and buses. You can literally go anywhere and everywhere in the US with ease. As all you really need to go anywhere is a social security number, prepaid phone which you can fill back up with cash(depending on the phone you get). You can get a passport for international travel with just your social security and birth certificate. Just need the money, of which you can pay in cash. So yeah, anyone can travel like Reacher and exist off the grid so to speak. It just takes effort and willingness to never touch social media, or at least never own social media yourself but use your friend’s social media or use Internet cafes(which are rare in the US) or other solutions like a library computer. Anyone can do it, just not many people are capable of doing it.
145+ gain 9mm is often loaded subsonic. 95 grain is lighter than the standard 115 grain loading (which is supersonic), so its unlikely to be used with a suppressor.
The problem with this interrogation is that the police investigator is spilling his guts about what evidence they have. I don't think that's the usual approach to interrogating a subject. Or a good one. Everything else is terrific.
@@RUclipsallowedmynametobestolen , it’s a drama, not a documentary. The scene provides the audience with all of the crime scene details in a few minutes. the only annoying thing for me is sub-sonic 9mm is 157 grain, not 95. the 95 grain projectiles are usually lead-free, and go fast. Like 1400 fps out of a pistol and nearly 1800 from a PCC
I'm not sure if I didn't get something right, but why is Reacher suggesting that a 95 grain 9mm bullet has to be subsonic? Subsonic in general does require heavier bullets, for 9mm normally 140 or 150 grain, otherwise it would require way less powder, which could lead to uneven firing in the 9mm. Not sure if they really didn't think about that, but it's actually quite easy to understand if you think about the physics for a second
The detective was reading Reacher's service record from the Army. The officer was trying to find Reacher online as a civilian....and was never going to find anything.
Great show. Detail missed: 95gr could be subsonic, but unlikely. Heavier bullet of 147gr would very likely be subsonic. Firearms can emit a certain amt of energy, and thats a bigger bullet traveling more slowly or a smaller bullet traveling faster. 95gr is the light end of 9mm bullets, 147gr the heavier end, therefore heavier likely to be slower, and probably slow enough to be subsonic.
95gr with a standard powder load would be hella fast. Definitely not subsonic unless hand loaded very light. Still a great show, looking forward to Season 2.
Finlay has Reacher's military service record. Roscoe is searching for online information about him, probably to find out what he's been up to since his discharge.
@@ukestudio3002 either way a heavier projectile is used not lighter for subsonic. Yes 22 is lighter in general but when subsonic is the goal it simply means a heavier projectile for whatever caliber is being used. There are super and sub 22 rounds just like for any other caliber
That last line “law says we need a warrant” - why is he so worried about laws then, after the sheriff’s deputies making an illegal arrest, and his own illegal jailing of Reacher? To be lawful, an arrest requires probable cause. Probable cause is, literally, that the suspect is more likely than not (aka 51% likely) to have committed the crime. Unless more than half the outsiders who travel into or through Margrave are murderers, just being such a traveler doesn’t create probable cause - especially since he arrived in Margrave after the murder was committed. An arrest is justified or not when it occurs, not afterwards, and at the time those deputies pointed guns at Reacher, they had no probable cause. Making an arrest without probable cause while pointing guns at someone is a federal felony (18 USC 241, 18 USC 242, 18 USC 924), one of the official misconduct variety so cops can’t claim necessity in the line of duty like they can and do for things like assault. Then there’s the unlawful jailing. Even knowing the arrest was unlawful, and therefore knowing that any evidence resulting from that arrest is inadmissible in court, Reacher is not released. Holding someone in a jail - or anywhere else - unlawfully is literally kidnapping. Putting someone in a holding cell is, like an arrest, justified or not when it happens, not later on. When your case amounts to “we’re assuming that the only knkwn stranger in town is the killer while assuming there aren’t any strangers we don’t know about, as well as that none of the people who live here are capable of murder”, you don’t have a case. No case means you cut your suspect loose.
95 grain 9mm is absolutely not subsonic lol. That’s a very light and thus very fast 9mm load. 9mm is typically 115-147 grain, and need to be about 165 grain to be subsonic out of a traditional barrel
95gr 9mm is not only SUPERsonic and loud, even with a silencer; it's not very common and could possibly be traced down. Sounds like an all copper round, possibly fragmenting round to me. So it wouldn't be recoverable for them to know it was 95 grains. AHH once again Hollywood writers can't make a 10 second Google search to learn about firearms before writing a script going into details about firearms.... DOH!
380 ACP (also called 9x17mm) is a 95 grain 0.355 inch diameter bullet. It's the same diameter as 124 grain 9mm Parabellum (aka 9x19mm) bullets. So a TV writer could usually get away with just calling it 9mm.
@@daveh7720 That doesn't automatically make it subsonic, nor would they know anything about what kind of grain amount was used without casings or unspent rounds on scene. This scene is full of inaccurate but plausible sounding info. The only thing they would know about what kind of grain amount or anything of the sort is by looking at any unburnt powder on the victim to see tale tell signs of close range suppressor patterns or an over saturation, which would indicate some combination of hot ammo and/or short barrel.
You're not wrong. Generally bigger bullets go slower which makes them better for subsonic. Smaller bullets normally go much faster. There would be no reason for a smaller slower bullet unless you want it to be less effective for some reason. No way you would think 95 grain 9mm would be subsonic. The smallest one I know of is 124 grain. Most are 147 with the biggest I know of 165.
Hell yes, there is a great RUclips vid by a law professor who invited a police detective in to do a lecture on why you “do not talk to the police” - it’s was epically interesting
This man is so much more believable as Reacher than Tom Cruise. I could never come to terms with such a short Jack Reacher when in the novels he's portrayed as 6'5" and heavily built, Tom Cruise is 5'7" and slight of build. They hire other actors that are short so it's not so noticeable.
@@Avgslaveworkerthat’s a great point.! Everyone seems to believe the only criterion for a good Reacher, is size. I read the books after and found movie much better !
@@AvgslaveworkerBecause in the first movie, as in the book One Shot, we are supposed to believe that he looks like someone who could kill a girl with one punch. Not saying someone of Cruise's build couldn't with knowledge of anatomy and practice, but the whole point is that book Reacher looks like he could do it and movie Reacher doesn't.
@@Avgslaveworker Because Reachers massive size is a plot point a great many times. Cruise played a good character as normal and the Cruise Reacher was a good movie, the first one at least. However, that in no way stops Alan Ritchson from being a far better Reacher and his size is a key reason. His acting is another, he may not be the actor Cruise is but he is more than good enough to flesh out Reacher.
The 9mm was probably a .380 possibly or a 9mm Makarov because it was a 95gr. The 95gr is light for a 9mm Luger round and doesn't mean it was a subsonic because the bullet is light in mass. Since it was a light 9mm 95gr bullet it was more than likely a supersonic bullet. A 9mm bullet for subsonic would probably be a 147gr or 124gr bullet in 9mm Luger since it was supposedly a 9mm. A 9mm subsonic 95gr bullet would probably lack sufficient power to cycle the slide on a semiautomatic pistol. There are .380 revolvers however there would not be a gas seal between the cylinder and the barrel's forcing cone and the firing revolver would leak expanding gas and would make a noise so rule out a revolver.
There was a study done. Interviewing ER doctors and reviewing their notes. Anything that happened before 4am was always referred to as “last night”, and after 4am is “this morning”.

man this is a great show can't wait for season 2
One of the best series I've ever seen
Subsonics aren't lightweight. They're heavier to compensate for the fact that they're moving slower.
9mm fmj is usually between 115 and 130 grains at an average velocity of around 1250fps.
Subsonics are always heavier, usually between 145 and 150 grains and travelling at approximately 1050fps.
9mm also isn't a "small" caliber.
Anything smaller than .50 is small caliber, Stud.
Hollywood is so stupid when it comes to anything involving firearms. So many writers are too lazy to Google.
It can remove a lung after all
Yes. Writers did simple research and REACHED the wrong conclusion. 147 grain is 9.5 grams. They mistook that for 95 grains.
Alan Ritchson could easily play a younger version of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin. The way they talk and their mannerisms are very similar plus they look pretty identical in the face although their physiques are completely different.
NEED SEASON 2 PLEASE!!!!
Hopefully I can squeeze it in before they start adding the Ads, that is when I drop Prime.
I just love this series! Alan and Malcolm are such great actors!
Why in gods name wasn’t this man considered for the roll in the Reacher films
Alan wasn't a Producer on the films. Tom was. You want to star, one way is to pay to make the film.
Why would such a good actor audition to play the part of a sliced piece of bread that holds the contents of a sandwich?
I will never unsee Thad Castle
I need a season 2 and 3, I cant binge if there aren’t episodes to binge 😪
Oscar: 12am.. this morning!
Reacher: Nods(okay good)
Lmao
95grain 9mm bullets…. Every subsonic round I’ve used is heavier! Basic physics. Yes, you download(or change powder), but you use a heavier bullet in order to slow it down…!
Yes. Writers did simple research and REACHED the wrong conclusion. 147 grain is 9.5 grams. They mistook that for 95 grains.
95 grain 9mm are not subsonic. 147s are typically your subs.

Such an amazing show they can’t even get that right
I love how reacher just shot down the the argument as to why he was the shooter in all but five seconds.
The one good show on Amazon, and they haven't given us a Season 2 yet.
December.
Invincible and the boys are also good shows on amazon.
They also have Vox Machina
Imagine if it had turned out to be just one guy with split personality
"tall people never have room for their feet"
BRO, YES!
I'm not even Adonis status like our boy Reacher, but my goddamn comforter on my bed is like perfectly 6'x6' and I'm about 6' tall and I'm the paranoid sort that needs the boanket tucked under my feet so the demon under my bed doesn't devour my exposed footses, so I'm perpetually scrunching myself up into a ball to sleep and I end up with back pain because it turns out you're not supposed to resemble a potato chip when you sleep
The only proof that jack reacher exists is the fact that his sitting in that room... ❤
That ... and his military ID and military record.
145+ gain 9mm is often loaded subsonic. 95 grain is lighter than the standard 115 grain loading (which is supersonic), so its unlikely to be used with a suppressor.
Yes. Writers did simple research and REACHED the wrong conclusion. 147 grain is 9.5 grams. They mistook that for 95 grains.
The problem with this interrogation is that the police investigator is spilling his guts about what evidence they have. I don't think that's the usual approach to interrogating a subject. Or a good one.
Everything else is terrific.
The investigator thinks the local hicks overreacted to a big stranger in town.
Do us a favour. Never try to write a script.
@@garywagner2466 Yes, heaven forbid there were to be a script writer who writes realistic dialogue.
@@RUclipsallowedmynametobestolen , it’s a drama, not a documentary. The scene provides the audience with all of the crime scene details in a few minutes. It establishes the plot line and two main characters for the rest of the show. It’s a very common dramatic device for crime shows. Too bad you don’t know anything about script writing.
@@garywagner2466 If you think I didn't already know all of that, you are a bigger fool than you take me for.
the only annoying thing for me is sub-sonic 9mm is 157 grain, not 95. the 95 grain projectiles are usually lead-free, and go fast. Like 1400 fps out of a pistol and nearly 1800 from a PCC
147 grain.
@markmills344 100% correct. As it was 8 months ago, I don't know if it was a typo or old timers.
Yes. Writers did simple research and REACHED the wrong conclusion. 147 grain is 9.5 grams. They mistook that for 95 grains.
He is talking about his brother.... Such good storytelling and that goes for all my rewatches. Hope S3 goes back to focusing on reacher ❤
Not sure if they really didn't think about that, but it's actually quite easy to understand if you think about the physics for a second
they should have asked Dirty Harry
Yes. Writers did simple research and REACHED the wrong conclusion. 147 grain is 9.5 grams. They mistook that for 95 grains.
astoundedly good series; they were all amazing. I hope they come up with even more seasons
For all of you who "wants a season 2" it was announced pretty early after the success of season 1 that season 2 would be coming.
“Tall people never have enough room for their feet”
Such a great series!
Name of the series
Reacher
Can’t wait for 12/15!!! Season 2 begins
The detective is reading out Reacher's record in extreme detail then we cut to this woman saying "there's no record of this guy existing". What ?
The detective was reading Reacher's service record from the Army. The officer was trying to find Reacher online as a civilian....and was never going to find anything.
Read the books!
December 15 can't get here fast enough
95 grain 1300fps thats super sonic
Yes. Writers did simple research and REACHED the wrong conclusion. 147 grain is 9.5 grams. They mistook that for 95 grains.
@@saxonsoldier67 I see what you did there. You're JACKED up....
Roscoe can’t fing out anything about Reacher yet Finley knows his life story!
Finlay has Reacher's military service record. Roscoe is searching for online information about him, probably to find out what he's been up to since his discharge.
That’s the nicest interrogation room I’ve ever seen LOL.
It's a conference room. Finlay refers to it as such.
Peach pie bit.... You can see a little bit of Thad Castle trying to come out lmaooo
If you want subsonic you would use heavier projectiles. A lighter one would increase velocity above sonic levels
I believe historically, the preference for agents was a subsonic .22 caliber at close range.
@@ukestudio3002 .32ACP was the ideal choice for OSS during WWII for covert missions often with the use of the Welrod silenced pistol.
@@ukestudio3002 either way a heavier projectile is used not lighter for subsonic. Yes 22 is lighter in general but when subsonic is the goal it simply means a heavier projectile for whatever caliber is being used. There are super and sub 22 rounds just like for any other caliber

It is rare to have a crush on a TV charactor or actor but Lawd this man is handsome!
Such a good series! Can't wait for season two, tomorrow!
Amazing show and perfect actors!
95 grain 9mm is absolutely not subsonic lol. That’s a very light and thus very fast 9mm load. 9mm is typically 115-147 grain, and need to be about 165 grain to be subsonic out of a traditional barrel
Yes. Writers did simple research and REACHED the wrong conclusion. 147 grain is 9.5 grams. They mistook that for 95 grains.
DOH!
Zactly! 👍
Suppressor..
@ukestudio3002 the terms are interchangeable, the ATF calls them a "firearm silencer" or a "firearm muffler". Silencer just sounds cooler lol.

@@saxonsoldier67 60 second Google search would have shown them they were WRONG
It’s super hard seeing this guy as anyone other than Thad
So somehow within minutes, they were able to get his complete military record.
Not just that, but Finley had it before Roscoe started searching for it. She also doesn’t give it to Finley until later in the episode.
Thad Castle really got his life together after BMS and the NFL
95 grain 9mm is not subsonic. (About 1100 fps near sea level) Generally 9mm below 147 grains is supersonic.
Yes. Writers did simple research and REACHED the wrong conclusion. 147 grain is 9.5 grams. They mistook that for 95 grains.
@@saxonsoldier67 Thanks! I was so puzzled where they got the 95gr. Even for 380, that's not the heaviest on the market :)
Seas 2 was great, now I'm restarting Season #1 again. Fun writing,.good fight scenes... I am a 73 y.o. Widow!
I like the show, so I will assume he meant 147 grain 9mm subsonic. 95 grain 9mm is rare, and definitely not subsonic.
🎉j
You're not wrong. Generally bigger bullets go slower which makes them better for subsonic. Smaller bullets normally go much faster. There would be no reason for a smaller slower bullet unless you want it to be less effective for some reason. No way you would think 95 grain 9mm would be subsonic. The smallest one I know of is 124 grain. Most are 147 with the biggest I know of 165.

For everyone's information, when you're innocent is when you need a lawyer the most.
Hell yes, there is a great RUclips vid by a law professor who invited a police detective in to do a lecture on why you “do not talk to the police” - it’s was epically interesting
Loved The first season, can’t wait for the next one. Actually read all of the Reacher books by Lee Children lots of fun and great stories. 👍
I thought it kind of sucked.

Great show
This man is so much more believable as Reacher than Tom Cruise. I could never come to terms with such a short Jack Reacher when in the novels he's portrayed as 6'5" and heavily built, Tom Cruise is 5'7" and slight of build. They hire other actors that are short so it's not so noticeable.
But you can’t tell without looking up his exact size so who cares and what difference does it make?
@@Avgslaveworkerthat’s a great point.! Everyone seems to believe the only criterion for a good Reacher, is size. I read the books after and found movie much better !
@@AvgslaveworkerBecause in the first movie, as in the book One Shot, we are supposed to believe that he looks like someone who could kill a girl with one punch. Not saying someone of Cruise's build couldn't with knowledge of anatomy and practice, but the whole point is that book Reacher looks like he could do it and movie Reacher doesn't.
Lookout , you'll be accused of shortism.
My Favorite Character…. One of my Favorite Authors
I keep waiting for the S2 trailer to drop. Surprised it's taken this long!
Season 2 can not come fast enough.
Amazing show 😊
Loved it
The 9mm was probably a .380 possibly or a 9mm Makarov because it was a 95gr.
Yes. Writers did simple research and REACHED the wrong conclusion. 147 grain is 9.5 grams. They mistook that for 95 grains.

Life's different when you're the main character in a TV show.
It helps that he's an experienced criminal investigator, who is aware of his solid alibi and unconcerned with being in jail.
There was a study done. Interviewing ER doctors and reviewing their notes. Anything that happened before 4am was always referred to as “last night”, and after 4am is “this morning”.
Maybe that's why they are always running late.
sounds like something you made up just now
Actually, ( 4:39 ) phone companies have systems and staff set up to respond to warrants and other law enforcement requests. And of course, they charge for each request. From what I've heard, they are about as good as the companies regular support phone staff, so, yea, he might be there for awhile.
When I was in law enforcement, it varied depending on which service provider you were dealing with. AT&T was always the best and the quickest.
When I worked for a service provider we had an unwritten arrangement with State law enforcement - we would give them the info first, then if it panned out, they got a warrant to get it officially.
i can swear the guy pumped biceps just before shooting the scene
Please convince Tom Cruise to make a cameo in the next season! I need to him standing next to this Jack Reacher 🤣🤣🤣
This is the very best show I have seen in a long time. I just finished season 2 and hope there will be a season 3.
I am not a series watcher. Not generally. This piqued my curiosity because of a RUclips short. Then I was hooked.
As long as you can ignore the terrible law enforcement strategies and complete lack of proper procedures then you'll enjoy this.
That little female cops full frontal made it all worth it.
