the call back with the ukelele. you used sound like it was a truly rare and costly effort so when she hears that confirmation of her sanity and fellowship it drops like a hammer. was a masterful use of emotion and senses. that is what cinema should do.
There is so much delight throughout the whole piece, it is hard to choose only one highlight. If I have to, I’ll also choose the ukulele connection at the end. But truly, there are so many brilliant layers- choice of colors; small, humorous details; the balance of purity and rawness; a clear storyline and delicate character development expressed without any spoken word. Truly brilliant!
Honestly, my favorite part was the storyline and the fact that it went how I wanted it to go. He was a great guy, she didn't break his heart, we got to see what happened after purgatory, and they both found peace in the end. Sometimes it's just nice to see a good story play out as you want it to without all the twists and drama.
I hate to hear that. And I hope that nothing but love and happiness finds you for the rest of your days. And it is amazing what weird little things like this can do for comfort.
This had no dialogue for 16:30 and I watched the whole thing, Im guessing all the other commentors did as well. Its a rare talent to hold someones attention for that long without dialogue, and do it well. You also touched on a hard topic for a lot of people and brought them a feeling of happiness, what great gifts all the people involved in this have to share 👍
I think the part that moved me the most, was when Claire asked if he was real. And Gerald replied "sort of." The honesty in his statement was devastating. It was hard to pick, but what an amazing little movie. I think I'd also have to say the trope of how much a transformative difference friendship can make. Thanks guy.
This was pretty tear jerking. It makes me understand human connection a little bit more. I love how his everyday events got better because he felt better, not because anything has really changed, only he has changed. It's a perspective worth showing because our time with everyone is short in the grand scheme of things.
I am sure it is the truth. When I go out feeling good, I meet nice people, get smiled at, and the traffic lights turn green as I walk up on them. Or some interesting add is stuck to the pole. On other days, I am often glad to return home alive. When one is freshly in love, gravity becomes wholly unreal.
This is an excellent short. Very original & well done. It's a little funny and a little serious. I love the idea of th Ouija board being a text message with someone in purgatory, just doing their day to day job.
When the kid at the pearly gates broke his Quiji board, the pain & devastation on his face mirrored my sadness at this cruel twist. I was afraid that he would do something to get back into purgatory in order to reconnect with Claire... imagine the relief & gratitude I felt when Claire left him that ukulele (which I figured might have just been a joke he'd told her to make her laugh) & was able to hear him plucking away at it!! 10/10, would recommend
This was perfect. Script, execution, even the color grading. All worked together to create a touching, humorous, moving story. You deserve every award for this. Thank you for creating it.
Brilliant! The story, the acting, the editing - all wonderful. You can feel the love that went into this project from start to finish. I laughed most when Gerald got into the 'metal groove' and the elevator couple were in passionate embrace, and was utterly delighted when Gerald received the flowers. Tragicomedy in the best sense of the word. BRAVO!
Wow, this film is so creative and touching - it had me feeling all kinds of emotions in such a short space of time, even without any spoken dialogue! I've never seen this concept done before and it's such a refreshing take on "speaking to those beyond" with a heartwarming story. It gave me 'short film before a Pixar movie' cosy feels. - I just adore it! I've been getting into short film content on RUclips as I'm awaiting a major surgery and don't get out much lol, but I can 'hand on plan planchette' say this is the best one I've seen so far and will take a hell of a lot to beat!
Wow, thank you very much for the kind words! So happy you enjoyed the film -- we were definitely going for Pixar-esque vibes! Best wishes with the surgery, and please let me know if you come across any other great films! 🙏
A wonderful story! Simple, yet beautifully done! And 'yes' it took me longer than I'd like to admit to realise that there was no spoken dialogue - the acting, and the subtitles were just that good!
Even spirits need to love and communicate. 🥰 Glad to see this... gave me the fuzzies. Loneliness and sadness, can be hard to overcome. GLAD love here exists.
I lost my father 8 months ago. I can't help but miss him. This beautiful piece of art you've done...man...what can I say...for more reasons than I can write, thank you.
This concept is so cool! The actors really brought out the feelings of being lost and finding a place to belong. We all can relate to that. I'm definitely going to share this video with my family and friends. Keep up the great work!
Thank you mate! Good job! I enjoyed every second of the play! It has everything - drama, comedy, thriller and what not. Glad that there are “sort of humans” (lol) who still have that touch of honest representation what we all “sort of living” feel. Brutally on the spot
Compelling and heartfelt, mesmerising and original.....brave to use the board and purgatory to tell a completely different and uplifting tale about friendship and love.
Very well done! You can tell a story without dialogue! Well written, well directed, couldn't find fault with any part of it. Thoroughly entertained! Thank you!
You are an incredible independent filmmaker. The story wraps around your heart effortlessly. The make up costumes props set all perfect. I look ahead to more of your insightful work. Just excellent
Right now - I can relate to this. I am currently in Purgatory. Just passing thru. On my way to Brazil in January. Thank the gods. But purgatory today. Thanks Tom and Co for the light-hearted waiting room entertainment. I feel better.
Omigosh! The is marvelous! There is no weak spot in the storytelling and it totally engrosses the viewer. We get carried along the highs and lows along with the characters and become invested in their story. Thank you for sharing this with us! ⚘
How has this not gotten more views? Bad algorithms! Masterpiece honestly some of the best content I have watched on my entire time on the platform what a gripping and moving story
You touched my heart even without saying a single word, i was sitting in the office and watching during lunch break, what a perfect match. Great acting, visuals and storytelling. Pls keep up the good work 🥰
I don't think I've ever seen a better short film. From concept to story to acting to filming, it was brilliant, funny, sad, heartwarming, and absolutely charming. Thank you!
Best short I have seen in quite awhile. A little love is all any of us needs. ❤️ Also we will be reunited with loved ones that have moved on ahead of us and this short reminded me.🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️
Excellent Film. Loved the story. I read into the film that Gerald likely ended himself because of a heartbreak, and thus freed himself from purgatory by helping Claire work through hers. Very heartwarming and compelling.
It's pure treasure! Congrats for make me feel a lot of emotions in such a little time. Loved your art and want to see more films like this! 😊😊👏👏👏👏👏👏❤❤❤❤❤❤
This short movie made out of passion managed to move me more than anything Hollywood spat out over the last year. Not even one word spoken yet you all manged to convey so much feelings. Loved it. Subscribed and will follow your channel at least in foreseeable future if now forever.
I think the saddest thing in this, is that every place is the same. The daily grind, carry’s over to the afterlife as well. Really amazing work, I didn’t notice the lack of dialog until almost the end.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🎉
Dear Mr. Albanese. 👍👌👏 Oh WOW, simply fantastic! What a wonderful story. This short movie is a real masterpiece. Thanks a lot for making recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and especially health to all involved.
@tomkalbanese one of his greatest films. With his mother in labor, his parents are on the way to the hospital when they are hit by a bus and he is born in the back seat. 4 passengers on the bus who died in the crash find their souls inexplicably linked to him.
This was an incredible story and the cinematography was brilliantly shot. What a beautifully done piece. I absolutely loved the acting as well, so much conveyed without dialogue ❤ well done everyone! I can tell everyone put their all into it ❤
I fell in love with your genious creator mind! ❤ This paranormal, life after death, different dimensions, intelligent sweet love-story is next level bullshit!!! ❤ Thank you sooo much for sharing this! 🙏

This is spectacular! Really liked the story, and loved the music. Especially loved the litttle melody on the uke, and how it managed to carry over.
