my model y lost almost 5% in 2 years. byd battery hold way better according to taxi driver survey.

Nine people out of ten want comfortable and quiet simplicity to driving anywhere.
Apart from the fact that Viking has NOT driven this car, does he understand who it is made for?
Well, it's a family car that you can comfortably take on a road trip with 3 kids, or load to the hilt when shopping.
If you want something to drive hard and don't have decent roads to travel on, then the Sealion 7 is NOT a good choice. As someone who drove an average of 40000km per year for almost 15 years, on good country and suburban roads, and having watched every RUclips review on this car to date, it ticks every box as far as I am concerned. And I do know it's not *perfect* and also know I have never owned a car that was.
As for ADAS, I have it on my present EV and have set it up so that I get NO annoying beeps, and that's been the case for over 2 years.

Plus, you are reviewing another person's review, so it's one person's subjective thoughts on another person's subjective thoughts. Anyways, comments on your videos will help you out, so there you go, and as a viewer I can always discount the subjectivity and just pick out the facts. I'll be test driving a Sealion at the Bangkok Moto Show next week. Saw one at the dealership a few days ago and my subjective view is that it's quite a looker. Love the giant fronk and the HUD. For me range is not so important as I will be charging at home 99% of the time, and the few long trips we do each year are done casually, and I've no issue with chilling at a charging station. Note the mid-spec "Design" will charge 10-80% in 32 minutes. Cheers.

Sam your comments around the Atto 3 ADAS in 2022 when released is different than the expectations of a car released in 2025, and I note today still plenty of cars from legacy auto whose ADAS is ordinary, including some large Japanese manufacturers. BYD's never review particulalrly well in the UK and that is a big part due to their pricing, but a Skoda Enyaq or Hyundai Ioniq 5 will likely be $15k more in Australia and even then plenty won't touch them due to their NMC batteries anyway.

    Few points to consider:
    - Majority of buyers prefer soft suspension setup for comfortability even it means compromising the handling, especially for non performance SUV
    - Not everyone wants one pedal driving, I know a lot my petrolhead friends never considered Tesla for this reason alone. In fact part of the reason I don't like Tesla apart from minimalism is one pedal driving that cannot be adjusted.
    - Latest BYD software update has improved the ADAS, much better than 2022 version although it's still not perfect.
    - Most of the BYD extra weight come down for using LFP chemistry for big battery. The XPeng G6 and Y LR they use NMC battery.

Significant bias I am afraid. This is an LFP battery, well known for lower density therefore less range compared to an equivalent NMC battery. On the other hand though LFP lasts far longer and degrades far slower than an NMC. Speaking on personal experience my 2019 Model 3 with an NMC battery from a starting range of 309 miles (EPA rating) is now down to 280 after 81k miles. 9.3% loss. I saw video and report of a BYD with 445k! miles with 20% degradation.. On the sealion though the prices are indeed high. You need lower prices if you want to infiltrate the market. As for the ADAS system, I have been in a number of different cars recently; they are all CRAP! Tesla is indeed better on this front.

    • @mondotv4216
      @mondotv4216 13 дней назад +1

Well I own both and I couldn't disagree more. Tesla autopilot is pretty good whilst my Atto 3 (which is the car I drive the most) is nothing more than adaptive cruise control with autosteer (which is just glorified LKA). What's the difference - well the Tesla actually anticipates traffic in front, rear and at the sides, keeps an exact speed (something the BYD seems incapable of doing) and drives confidently enough that you just have to monitor. It's not perfect - I've had it brake on me when somebody turned right in front of me although there was plenty of room and twice (both times on trips to Melbourne) it's tried to take an incorrect exit - but overall it's a pretty good system. As soon as the BYD hits a hill it starts to slow down and it takes about 7-10secs for it to realise and start accelerating - even my old Outlander had better ACC than that. It would be the most annoying human driver ever. Think about that - if you're on the freeway overtaking traffic at the speed limit and it hits a hill, the Atto 3 starts to slow down leaving you in the median lane going slower than the speed limit. It's autosteer is OK until it isn't, when the camber of the road gets excessive. I've used it maybe 3 times but gave up on it. The Tesla is the simplest and easiest car I've ever had for autopilot/ACC. Double click down on the right stalk and use the scroll wheel to set your speed and the travel distance. OTOH the BYD when you first engage cruise control sets it to the current speed, right? Wrong - it sets it to 30km/h and you can then set the speed by advancing it in 5km/h increments. I think you can also set it after you engage by using the resume button but that's something I only discovered on my last freeway. Don't get me wrong - I like the Atto 3 but there's a huge technology gap to the TM3.

No chance to try the Sealion 07 here in Finland yet. The BYD Seal is here though. My personal feeling about the BYD Seal was very positive. It has almost the same suspension system as the Tesla. The ride felt good. You could feel the power. I also liked that big central display. And it also has a second display. The interior was very attractive. The seats are very luxurious. These things are almost the same in the Sealion 07. Quite big energy consumption is BYD's biggest problem. For some reason, it seems that the new evo version is even worse in that sense.

It’s unlikely to be true, or your friend simply prefers a car that leans a lot when cornering. Multiple reviewers have mentioned that this car has a lean-prone, uncomposed suspension due to its overly soft setup. Teslas don’t suffer from the same problem, because the suspension is on the stiffer side, and it’s also much lighter.

Efficiency is king. Why have many EV manufacturers not pushed this? My Tesla M3 RWD Highland is generally 4.5 miles per kWh for past 7 months and gives this at 70 mph speeds. A great increase over my Kia E Niro that did 3 to 3.5 miles per kWh at 70 mph speeds.

@@jimmyhan4650 Not true for all circumstances. I have a 2023 RWD model 3 - I do a semi-regular trip from Sydney to Melbourne and back, I stop for late breakfast and early dinner (Gundagai and Euroa) exactly the same as I did in my ICE car and the same as what I would do in a long range. 2 x 20-25 min stops and I'm done, without fail I have enough charge to contunue before I have finished eating and using the bathroom.
I can do 3 x 164 km round trips to work between charges because I can charge to 100% with an LFP battery as often as I like and don't need to keep to the 80/20 rule - and before you start with degradation, yes I charge my car to 100% every time and yes I leave it plugged in at 100% until I want to use it again - after 21 months and 40,000km I have 3% degradation, 2% occurred in the first 10 months and only 1% since.
The sheer practicality of the LFP battery is far more important for me than a longer range, a difference in range that I have yet to find would have given me any advantages despite numerous country / remote trips.
BTW I doubt anyone is getting close to my efficiency with a Tesla Long Range AWD. i.imgur.com/IJ2mSiY.jpg - I can sit on 125wh/km (200wh/mi) all day long at 70mph in reasonable conditions.

They can alter and manipulate automatic gearboxes with software to lower emissions so this should similar on an electric power steering rack or drive by wire systems. But if it feels great and doesn't handle well maybe this is BYD'S way of telling you don't point it into a corner at speed. It will be interesting to see what Chinese brands will get this right.

At least you can buy this car in your country! Americans like myself.... you know the "Home of the Brave and Land of the Free".... can't do that.
Our government would rather let it citizens go broke paying for high priced cars. This so that our domestic ICE automakers, and their United Auto Workers union leaches, don't go out of business. So we are artificially financing them through tarrifs which then, under the covers, return as federal grants to these same automakers.... so they can convert to be EV makers.... except they never do. Some just used the federal money to buy back stock and line the pockets of their executives with bonuses (I'm talking to you GM!).
So Americans have little choice except a Tesla if we want a pure EV at a decent price. Yes there are Hyundais and KIAs here too but in low quantities and worse software than a Tesla.

@santoshrathod123 Exactly right. However, if BMW is anything to go by with such problems they start off with resetting the code and saying 'should be fixed now', when it's not and breaks down at an inconvenient time. When sensors start to fail they can throw misleading codes in other adjacent areas which in some instances can create a real problem for both drivers and the dealership, who most times don't have enough experience or time to follow up hunches or deep-dive into systems. This leaves the owner without their car for possibly weeks at a time and a feeling of disappointment or anger. If you keep going back with the same unresolved issue most dealerships start to get fed up seeing you.
