Yeah, actually looking g GDP alone isn't indication of wealth felt by people. But yeah countries like Singapore doesn't appear to have huge GDP, but then it's population is small and concentrated to just a big metropolis, so thag GDP per capita is actually really high. India have really high GDP, but the problem is that their popular is so huge that per capita is small. Comparing to Japan that have far smaller population (sadly is actually dwindling negatively). China is at least compensated by having really huge GDP for its huge population as well. So if think about it, China's GDP make sense.

About 20 years ago, when relatives came back from living overseas for about 10 years, they already couldnt recognize the city any more. i remember when i was little my dad could only afford to buy ice cream once a while in the summer. i didnt realize the whole time living there that china has been doing something not known to the world. i thought this was life everywhere. i am so proud of my country seeing this. i didnt realize what the country was doing only trapped in my small world. amazing. china has gone through a lot culturally and ideologically and technologically and scientifically before the economical development happened. thats why when japan kept growing, china lagged behind. it is still recovering. i hope china can start growing its soft power in the future. if we didnt throw the old civilization out of the window, china could do better earlier. South Korea has a big problem of low brith late. As you can see China, population is a main point of GDP. But South Korea birth late is 0.7 and expected to decreace 0.6 next year, which means Korea population will be half. So Unification with North Korea is essential I think

I think that countries having high population and area will eventually have more gdp but its impressive that countries like japan, korea, Singapore etc being very small and less population have more gdp than big countries with population.
Yeah, actually looking g GDP alone isn't indication of wealth felt by people. But yeah countries like Singapore doesn't appear to have huge GDP, but then it's population is small and concentrated to just a big metropolis, so thag GDP per capita is actually really high.
India have really high GDP, but the problem is that their popular is so huge that per capita is small. Comparing to Japan that have far smaller population (sadly is actually dwindling negatively).
China is at least compensated by having really huge GDP for its huge population as well. So if think about it, China's GDP make sense.

i am a chinese born in 1985. a year almost when china start catching not lagging any more. i can see the development going since childhood. its changing eveywhere all the time to a better physical environment. About 20 years ago, when relatives came back from living overseas for about 10 years, they already couldnt recognize the city any more. i remember when i was little my dad could only afford to buy ice cream once a while in the summer. i didnt realize the whole time living there that china has been doing something not known to the world. i thought this was life everywhere. i am so proud of my country seeing this. i didnt realize what the country was doing only trapped in my small world. amazing. china has gone through a lot culturally and ideologically and technologically and scientifically before the economical development happened. thats why when japan kept growing, china lagged behind. it is still recovering. i hope china can start growing its soft power in the future. if we didnt throw the old civilization out of the window, china could do better earlier. God bless china. Going through wars and so much transformation are not easy. i bet what chinese government wishes for, which is also the reason why china could grow so much so fast, is world peace because there are still a lot of recovering healing and growing going on and wars are the last thing people want. maybe in a few decades chinese people can finally have peace and relax because for a hundred years there was nothing but seriousness. nobody want up and running all the time. hope when i am old i see a china that is strong, wise and peaceful.

@@Sakurajager 去年刚从印尼回来，整体上感觉大概是中国80~00年代的感觉，部分繁华区还行，但东西物价却意外的高，考虑到这个国家人均偏低，只靠海洋我觉得远远不够，但这个国家政府还算重视基建，所以未来还有很大发展空间，只靠海洋吃饭但没有稳固的金融产业是很难把资本留在国内用于发展自身基础的，毕竟他陆地面积并不小，这是印尼政府需要思考的一个问题。

This is why the development of China is so impressive and being studied by institutions all around the world (my junior college, in Singapore, offered China Studies as a subject.) The problem is that it was below 2 for decades, so when the old people reached their age limit, the population plummetes and the already reduced young people have to work for the high amount of old people reducing Japan’s GDP
On the other hand, the other East Asian countries only dropped one or two decades ago, where the majority of the people are work capable people.
And this is just in terms of US dollar GDP. In terms of purchasing power parity (PPP), an estimate of how far the money goes, China is in the 33 T US range, about 25% larger than the US, which is about 26 T. By 2030 or so, China is projected to be 40% larger than the US.
Up till 1980’s PRC had not adopted international standards for GDP reporting.
South Korea has a big problem of low brith late. As you can see China, population is a main point of GDP.
But South Korea birth late is 0.7 and expected to decreace 0.6 next year, which means Korea population will be half.
So Unification with North Korea is essential I think
The larger the population, the more difficult it is to manage, you can imagine a company with 5 people and a company with 140 people, the management capacity required is not the same order of magnitude...

맞는말인듯 싶지만 틀림. 한국은 gdp 의 큰부분은 수출로 얻음. 수출에 제일 중요한 부분은 생산성인데 지금까지 어찌저찌 외국인 노동자를 써서 잘 버텨옴. 한국은 내수가 큰시장도 아님. 그리고 중국도 저 출산률임. 중국은 수십년동안 1 자녀만 허용했고 몇년전에 인구 감소 때문에 폐지함. 한국은 인구 감소해도 외국인 노동자들이 대체할것이니 gdp 에 큰 문제가 아님. 중국은 저출산이면 내수시장도 줄고 노동력도 비싸질것임.
