You should check out the fight scene in Oldboy (2003) when he squares up to a gang in a dim lit corridor. No fancy stuff. Just down to earth bone busting. Great movie.
The best thing about these chinese movies is that the bad guy is really capable. The protagonists victory does not in any way undermine the capabilities of the villain. Its always a hard won battle.
If this was a Hollywood action movie, they would've showed us flashes of lights and zoomed in faces of fighters with plenty of meaningless sounds, not the action itself. This video gives some nostalgia.
If anyone like Andy On, which played villain in this movie, there is another movie that he is in, called ONCE UPON A TIME IN CHINA. Bad ass fight scenes.
