    I just got an M9A3. I prefer the FS model with the safety/decocker. I hear the trigger on the A4 is amazing I can’t imagine how much better it can be than the A3 because that trigger feels so good compared to the regular M9.

    • @Gruntreviews

      Yup, would be nice to see a safety option.

    • @StryderK
      @StryderK 2 года назад +8

      Actually, both the M9A3 and M9A4 have the so called “D” spring. The most palpable difference is the double action pull. The original M9 classic, which I also have, the double action is over 12 lbs initially. Now that it’s broken in, it’s around 10 lbs or so, closer to 11. Single action pull is close to 5 lbs initially, down to 4 now. I recently bought a M9A3 three weeks ago. Double action on the A3 is 10 lbs right now, think it will drop to 9lbs after it gets broken in. 4lbs single action. Will be lower after breaking in. This makes the A3 so much easier and smoother to shoot, this plus the raised night sights also means I’m more accurate too….Now, I just need to save up for my can to really have some fun! (Have eyes set on a Rugged Obsidian .45 cal can for my FN FNX-45, with an adaptor for the A3).

    • @CaptPreston
      @CaptPreston Год назад +2

      I know. I was interested in ordering one of these until he said there was no safety on the decocker. That was one of the reasons I got my PX4. I would not like to holster the M9A4 in the dark and have it go off on me.

    The black piece just above the trigger on the right side of the pistol is the Trigger bar. In the original M9 there was a spring that slots into the frame of the pistol and the bottom of the trigger bar to hold the trigger bar to make the trigger bar engage the firing mechanism. I'm assuming the design hasn't changed. A lot of soldiers made the mistake of taking a toothbrush up inside of the mag well to clean out any dust or sand and would wind up disengaging the spring and losing it. If the spring is lost, the weapon WILL NOT FIRE as the trigger bar will drop down and not engage the firing mechanism that works the hammer. If you own this firearm, be very careful when you clean the mag well that you don't knock the trigger bar spring loose. You might want to see if you can obtain extras, just in case. To replace the spring, take off the hand grips, locate the hole in the frame and seat the short leg of the V shaped spring into the frame, then work the spring up into the groove in the bottom of the Trigger bar. Easy to lose, and just as easy to fix.

    Beretta is a way better manufacturer than a lot of people give them credit for. I think a lot of it has to do with the military experience with the M9/M9A1. Which is a little misplaced when those guns have decades of service and 10’s of thousands of rounds. The M9 I carried as ASF in the Navy p, the bluing was so worn it looked like an INOX model lol

      Most companies are getting away from manual safeties in the striker and DA/SA guns. If you've got a good holster and trigger discipline, they are redundant. Now a SAO, external safety very much relevant.

      @@Gruntreviews in my opinion and experience as well as being around children having guns accessible in the house having a gun with an external hammer so it can be de-cocked and then a safety applied makes the gun safer than having a gun that always ready to fire. Especially around kids in today’s society. I’ve brought my children up around guns from birth just like I was as I had a father that was a Vietnam vet marine and he taught me marine corps safety and shooting techniques from the age of 5. So it’s not my kids that I was worried about it was their friends which probably haven’t received the same gun discipline.
      Now a gun with no external hammer and just a trigger safety for military, tactical, police use I can completely see and agree with. Not saying civilians shouldn’t own one because I believe fully in the 2nd amendment. I just believe that these types of guns needs to be locked up in a safe at all times when you have children in the house.
