I noticed while checking the interview that I never circled back to the question: Why are German leaders subservient to the US? So I went back and asked John and here is his answer: "Germany is subservient to the United States mainly because it fears that Washington will abandon Europe for East Asia. Given the US concern with the China threat, German leaders worry that America will “pivot to Asia,” which effectively means it will pivot away from Europe. This matters greatly to German foreign policy elites because they understand that the American military presence in Europe serves as a pacifier-it is principally responsible for peace in Europe. Thus, German leaders go to great lengths not to alienate the United Stares for fear that it would then leave Europe, which would mean Germany is responsible for its own security, a thought that scares most Germans half-to-death. To prevent that outcome, contemporary Germany invariably backs US policy, which is not always in Germany’s national interest. This was certainly the case in April 2008 when Angela Merkel supported the Bush administration’s foolish decision to bring Ukraine into NATO, even though she understood it would lead to enormous trouble with Russia."
@@JasminKosubekOriginal Good point. Perhaps you should have asked John if he saw any (past) prospect of Russia joining NATO. Anyway, I will try the AI.
She gave us a great interview with John. Yes, she was naive on issues but that is totally fine. She isn't the expert, which is why she allowed John to facilitate the conversation. Name calling her does a great disservice.
@@robinali6903No she did not have a “Great” interview. She carefully tried to justify ethnic cleansing by claiming agnosticism and suggesting that people should just accept having their land stolen from them because it happened a long time ago. Through her you hear the condescendance of Germans that led them to murder millions upon millions of people. Go watch the interview he did with lex Friedman who is an actual intellectual. You don’t claim to be clueless about something and proceed to say the most nonsensical shit ever. I have been a student of John for over 15 years and never have I seen him so uncomfortable and dumbfounded in an interview (when addressing the Palestinian questions). She makes point that can be argued and debunked by a 16 year old with 1 year of AP history. The lesson here is simple, when you do know shit, you shut the fuck up and listen!
She talks so much about a topic she said she's not sure of(Israel). If it's me I'd just shut up and listen. I do appreciate at the end she's done a 180 turn. Good job John for staying cool through all this. You're are a true teacher.
Nah man, it's not about what she don't know, everyone knows that ethn1c cleans1ng is wrong, but she think that it's OK and Palestinians should be expecting their fate, not just that but she doesn't want the oppressors who been stealing others land, G siding them for over a century to be held accountable, on the contrary she wants them to keep the land they stole, be forgiven for their cr1mes in the name of "unfair peace" (what ever tf that means) just bc they're Jews! "I can't imagine Jews dont have a country", she said.
Was she playing the part? Was it the two staging a clear statement to disarm the Zionist argument? Showing the unreasonable reality of Genocide Settlement Annexation.
"I want to keep my agnostic view on the Israel-Palestine conflict" She keeps repeating that but to me that's just a cop out for basically doing the Ostrich's head in the sand policy. Which is the German policy in general. Denial. They're so weighed down by history that they will never criticise Israel.
There is another take on German stance which IMO is more convincing - German leadership knows perfectly well what is going on, but they are OK with it, because genocide that Germany committed on Jews will be relativized by Israeli genocide on Palestinians, in the eyes of German elite at least. The gravity of German "sin" will be made "easier" to carry when Israel becomes genocidal state who is mass murdering women and children.
Nope, its not denial, but the only true realistic view on this conflict. No one, besides Israelis and Palestinians, can truly end this conflict. Everyone who try so pick a side will automatically make an enemy on the other side. Tell me, what will happen when Palestinians win? Right, exactly the same as when Israelis win, a disaster. The current war was not started because outside powers decided to "stick their head in the sand", but because someone particular (USA) decided to pick a side.
The ignorance of Frau Kosubek is astounding. I’m even more in awe of Professor Mearsheimer for the infinite patience and tolerance he displayed during the interview

Cultural Marxists were given free reign to mutilate the culture of German during the post-war occupation. These people were Jewish Supremacists who hated Germans/Europeans before the war and hated them even more after the war. That amount of mental manipulation leads to results like this. I will also add that Sunni Muslims tend to Mum up when non-Muslims bring up Sunni Muslim cooperation with 🇮🇱 to commit atrocities against non-Muslims and non-Sunni Muslims. Israelis and Sunni Muslims seem to have that same amnesia when it comes to doing evil to people from outside groups. 👀
She is a perfect example of the ignorance of German media towards Palestinians: She is not even aware that 2,3 Million people in Gaza are stateless. Stateless means, there is no entity defending your rights. Has she ever tried to understand what's going on there? It's painful to watch.
Defenseless is not what stateless means. There is an entire UN Organization tirelessly focused on assisting the population of Gaza and the West Bank called UNRWA. Both the US and the EU spend countless of millions each every year on the protection of the status quo. Benevolent people around the world are very charitable and politically active for the people, including about half the people in Israel -- until 10/7. You, my friend could reread your own commend and ponder. She is awesome, and her skepticism is appropriate.
She said she doesn't know nothing about the conflict, but 10 minutes later she talks about the videos people are circulating about Gaza being "a great place", talks about Palestinians having passports... When it comes to knowing about the Palestinians being murders she just says "I don't know much about it". What a joke...
"how can you call it an apartheid state when half of the population is Palestinians?" - lol, does she think blacks were a minority in South Africa or something? Apartheid South Africa had a 95% black population. And yes, there were blacks that had South African passports

The Palestinians should not accept theft, imprisonment nor their slaughter. I knew a black south African. And shame on those Western nations enabling this slaughter. PS. Apartheid South Africa was beautiful, too
Actually it isn't their land. The reason most Palestinians have Egyptian and Syrian surnames is because their very recent ancestors migrated there when it was a British Mandate, looking for work, and prior to that from around 1900's when the Ottomans started building infrastructure such as railways. This lie of ownership now seems to be widely accepted but a simple Google search tells a different story. The whole Mandate area, including present day Jordan had a total population of less than 1 million yet today millions claim to be Palestinians and refugees by descent.

@@margaretcaine4219 Don't believe Israeli propaganda. It is mostly Palestinian land. See Wiki's page on the demographic history of Palestine for a more nuanced view eg Justin McCarthy...... ...evidence for Muslim immigration into Palestine is minimal. Because no Ottoman records of that immigration have yet been discovered, one is thrown back on demographic analysis to evaluate Muslim migration.. From analyses of rates of increase of the Muslim population of the three Palestinian sanjaks, one can say with certainty that Muslim immigration after the 1870s was small. Had there been a large group of Muslim immigrants their numbers would have caused an unusual increase in the population and this would have appeared in the calculated rate of increase from one registration list to another... Such an increase would have been easily noticed; it was not there. The argument that Arab immigration somehow made up a large part of the Palestinian Arab population is thus statistically untenable. The vast majority of the Palestinian Arabs resident in 1947 were the sons and daughters of Arabs who were living in Palestine before modern Jewish immigration began. There is no reason to believe that they were not the sons and daughters of Arabs who had been in Palestine for many centuries

Jasmin's argument "why do the Palestinians not just leave and go into another Arab country" is insane and shows how little she understands about the history of the conflict. With this logic, the Boors in South Africa could have said "the Black people should just leave South Africa after having been oppressed by the white minority for 250 years and go into one of the many neighboring "black" countries. Why did this work with the Germans - e.g. why did the vast majority of the German people accepted to have given up vast territories in the East after the lost world war is a different question ... which I don't want to go into now.
Except my people didn't oppress black people for 250 years, it shows you how little you understand about the history of South Africa. South Africa, the Union of South Africa, is only a little over a hundred years old. And before the English unified the Union it did so over the corpses of the Boer republics and different black kingdoms at the time. So how exactly did my Boer ancestors oppress black people for 250 years? Can you give me an example? The Cape Colony, which the English took over from the Dutch and started expanding into black kingdoms and the eventual Boer Republics, only started its expansion about 200 years ago, and they were a separate group from my people (the Boer) and the Cape Dutch who were also an entirely different group at that time subjugated by the English. Bantus aren't native of South Africa, they've been here for about 1500 years, during which time they displaced Khoi people (according to genetics they killed the men and took the woman which was normal in that period), so the question becomes how far do we go back to call people colonizers and non-natives and why? You don't want to go into the question of the ethnic cleansing of German communities in the East after and before ww2, in some cases even before ww1, because it doesn't fit your political narrative to acknowledge Germans as human beings.
@@startfromwithin8107 Not really. You're operating on an idealist position, and technically so is Mearsheimer, because you want to pretend there is fairness in the world, and you want to pretend that people all treat each other with respect. I see no reason why a German should support Palestinians against Israeli ethnic cleansing if Palestinians don't oppose the ethnic cleansing of Germans that occurred in recent history. Why should people treat others better than others treat them?

Excellent analysis, as always by Pr Mearsheimer. He does not mince words. He stayed polite and considerate when the interviewer asked him idiotic questions and made a number of stupid comments.
Her remarks about Gaza’s beauty and how scenes of life there contradict the depiction of Gaza as a massive prison camp are among the most absurd questions I have ever heard. The difficult living conditions in Gaza do not mean that its people haven’t tried to improve their lives and work tirelessly to make Gaza a livable place. On the contrary, the beautiful scenes of life in Gaza further indict Israel. Despite the siege imposed on it, Gaza has managed to remain perpetually beautiful. However, the brutality and barbarity of the Zionists have consistently contributed to its destruction. You cannot blame the Palestinians for this devastation; all they want is their stolen land, nothing more. As for the part about Palestinian refugees, it reflects the superficial and shallow thinking of the interviewer. Why should Palestinians compromise and abandon their land? Just because Europeans have done so in the past doesn’t mean Palestinians are obligated to follow their example. This is a blessed land, and Palestinians want to return to it even if it takes a hundred years. While Palestinians in most Arab countries have obtained citizenship and are treated as full-fledged citizens, this does not negate their right to return to their homeland. The betrayal of some Arab regimes does not equate to the abandonment of Palestinians by the Arab people, who continue to stand with them and will always support them with whatever they can. The foremost form of support is ensuring that Palestinians remain on their land, preserving it, and fighting for it-not leaving it to become citizens of neighboring countries while leaving their land to the barbaric thieves!
Watching this from New Zealand. Jasmin is getting schooled by the world’s best and she still keeps on digging her hole. Jasmin shut up and listen. Be respectful and learn.

Very disgusting also that Europeans drove out natives from America and Australia, right? And FYI it was the Arabs who first ethnically cleansed the Arabic peninsula from Jews and Christians.
And she does not explain how can Palestinians leave Palestine without some other country accepting them. Does Germany accept all Gazans if they want to leave? What about US? What about Egypt or Jordan? This is like asking Jews to leave Germany in 1935. Did anyone give unconditional visas to all Jews in Germany at that time? Only most affluent Gazans could leave for Egypt by paying tens of thousands of bribes. Just like only few Jews could leave Germany during Holocaust.
Jasmin explained to us all that there are "acceptable" ethnic cleansing and some other were "unacceptable". Some may wonder where is that fine line? It is very simply: depends on lobbyists, PR/public opinion shaping agencies and money poured in. Or maybe "acceptable" ethnic cleansing became a thing in 2023 so everything before (but after WW2!) was barbaric by those damned Serbs/Arabs/Russians/.

The answer to the genocide question is simple: there is a legal threshold, look up "genocide convention 1948" Why do the neigboring states not help ? Even though support for Palestinian rights is overwelming, those are not democratic states so their leaders do not make decicions based on the will of the public. I think Germany has a serious problem understanding this matter. According to international law, Gaza, west bank, east Jerusalem, Golan heights and the Jordan Valley are illegal settlements under International law. This means all unlawful settlers will have to be removed from those areas.
To add to your point, Regimes in Jordan and Egypt are propped up by the United States. See list of US aid recipients. As for Saudi Arabia, the tyrannical rulers are afraid of their subjugated population and count on the US to keep them in power, an example was when the current crown prince wanted to overthrow his cousin he needed the green light from the White House and when Obama seemingly said no, they waited for Trump who agreed in return for arm deals and basically shaking down the Saudis.
The legal threshold you refer to was established by Raphael Lemkin a Polish Jew who coined the term genocide and campaigned for establishlishment for the Genocide Convention which produced the "legal threshold" based on the Holocaust.
No way she is intelligent. She asked stupid questions thruout, not just on the Gaza issue. The Gaza issue just illustrated her intellectual dishonesty and her refusal to acknowledge facts presented to her by one of the most knowledgeable minds in the world.
This lady: I just want the fighting to stop, so let's give Israel what it wants and help it ethnically cleanse the Palestinians from their land by asking the arab states to take in the Palestinians. She most likely has no idea that there are millions of Palestinian refugees already living in many arab states.
Good conversation but I think there was a major misconception implicit in one of Jasmin's questions during the Israel-Gaza section of this podcast. Her question implied that the Palestinians are i) a population of refugees, ii) that that has been their status since their displacement in 1948 and iii) they should come to terms with their loss and move on because iv) it is a foregone conclusion that they are not going to get their country back and their fight is therefore futile. That may or may not be true for Palestinians living in refugee camps in the surrounding Arab countries who might never be permitted back into what is today Israel proper. But what about the Palestinians living in the West Bank and Gaza? Granted some of them are refugees from the Nakba (1948) who were expelled from what became Israel. But they are now living on land - the West Bank and Gaza - where they are a clear majority and that does not legally belong to Israel. This land could form the basis of a Palestinian State in the event of a two state solution. Should they accept their permanent statelessness? Should they leave and go elsewhere as refugees to eventually be assimilated into another country? Or should they struggle for their rights and self-determination on territory which i) has historically been their's, ii) where they are still living as an overwhelming majority and iii) that has been earmarked by the United Nations as the basis of an eventual Palestinian state.
It is incorrect to say that the Palestinians are a majority in Gaza as jews are simply not allowed there. Gaza was free of jews since 2006, when Israel left Gaza completely in the pursuit of peace. What happened next was that Hamas took over. Gaza had the chance and the freedom to determinate themselves since 2006. Yet Hamas chose terror. And unfortunately an overwhelming majority of Palestinians do not fight for and do not want a two-state solution. They want the whole territory and the jews gone. Check the channel „ask an Israeli/ask a Palestinian“. You will hear their answers.
@@svenr.8365😂😂😂really? Are u sure? It IS completely thé opposite. Who rejects since the beginning the 2 staats solution? Even the UNO is completely ignored.
Those in Gaza and Westbank should join Israel, the best choice they could make for themselves and their children. But they wont do that and probably even if they would want to now, I don't think Israel could accept it at this point. All sails a set for war now and the lines are as blurry as they have never been. Your remark about history is simply wrong for the fact that the history of this place is much older than the ethnic people identifying themselves as Palestinian. Heck the Islam is the youngest of the three big religions yet they have the wildest claims about history. Don't let these things get to your head, all religious fanatics will tell you the same no matter from which side. The logical choice would be to let history rest and settle with an agreement under which all involved people can be okay with. Issue is now, can you find such an agreement between people living a dogmatic philosophy? If I had a say in German politics about this, I would withdraw any financial help for Palestine via UN and any help for Israel, UNTIL, both sides would stop any hostile actions and start seriously talking to each other how their people can live in peace. And that will require from both to step back from historical and religious claims, and settle on the shared humanity. For someone not trapped in a dogmatic world view this seems rather simple.
@@svenr.8365 Your description of what happened in Gaza in 2006 is completely inaccurate. Gaza was occupied by Israel in 1967 during the course of a war. The Israeli settlements that were built in Gaza were illegal because under international law it is illegal to transfer a population into an occupied territory. Furthermore, the settlements, in both the Gaza and the West Bank, were a major obstacle to the peaceful resolution of the conflict because they undermined the viability of a future Palestinian state. When Israel left Gaza in 2006, they dismantled settlements (which should not have been there in the first place because they were a violation of international law), but they did not dismantle the occupation. In fact, they maintained their control over the borders, the surrounding waters as well as the airspace, deciding who and what could go in and go out. Over time, the occupation was turned into a brutal, suffocating siege which only allowed in the minimal number of calories to ensure Gazans had only just enough sustenance to survive. Gaza was turned into a barely habitable concentration camp, in order to make the lives of the Palestinian inhabitants unbearable so that they would leave. Moreover, the settler withdrawal from Gaza was part of a broader plan to accelerate settlement building in the West Bank, which was also a major violation of international law and which the Israelis proceeded to do immediately after "leaving" Gaza. They withdrew 8 to 9 thousand settlers from Gaza, but in the following year alone introduced 12 thousand new settlers into the West Bank.
@ Sorry, but this is complete nonsense. First of all it is totally normal, that a sovereign state maintains control over it‘s own borders. This is part of the definition of being a state. And furthermore it is unevitable if Your neighbour endlessly commits terror attacs on Your country. This argument is childish. And why do You think that Israel has any obligation to supply water to Gaza? Why do You not ask that from Egypt, that has a border to Gaza by the way too? Israel had no control of the border to Egypt, so all Your further arguments are nonsense too. How could Israel prevent Egypt from providing anything to Gaza from its own border? Few other countries got such huge amounts of international aid that did Gaza. And where is all the money? No water supply. No own educational system. Nothing for the population. But terror tunnels and rockets. And Hamas leaders who are billionaires. And by the way: How did they leave Gaza to go to Qatar if it is so closed up? 🤦🏻♀️ If the situation would be the way that You describe it, I would agree with You. No doubt. But it is not. Still I feel really sorry for the population of Gaza because they are being used by the iranian mullahs and other islamists to put pressure and to perpetrate terror on Israel. Gazans should be freed from Hamas and Iran.

The lady needs either to stay quiet or educate herself on the Palestinian conflict, she sounds like a 15 year old ignorant teenager. Johs as always is very balanced in his assesment
1. Former Roman Empire capturer Adrian invaded into Jewish land and tried to rename it into palestine, into so called palestine a country that never existed, in retaliation against Jewish people for resistance to occupation. 2. In 1946 Jordan got created for them already but on 70 % Jewish land. 3. In 1948 Israel, with thousand years history, got re-established following WW2, after being captured by foreins invadors former various former Empires who oppressed and discriminated against Jewish people. 4. Terminology "palestinans" got created in 1964 by KGB from former USSR and its agent, arafat from Egypt for those who invaded Jewish land from nearby countries. 5. In 2005 Israel gave up on Gaza territories and forcebly removed all Jewish people from thier homes in Gaza in exchange for territories from promised peace. But those who live in gaza voted and choise ham as and its idiology, built millitary zone with tunnels under hospitals, houses and schools despite of getting humanitarian help and trillions with intent to live peracfully with its neighbors violated cease fire numerous times. 6. Facts are important. Peace to all.
Her “agnostic” view on Israel is very close to accepting genocide as natural. Let’s say a very racional “final solution” for a land dispute between the original owners and the thieves. Certain things never change…
Hamas wants to wage a war of annihilation (still does so, and officially at that). They got the war of annihilation. Then everyone is like "that's bad!" The interview was good until Jasmin became a pubescent teenager when it came to the Gaza genocide. I found that incredibly exhausting to watch. Initially, her professionalism was excellent, also the good English was remarkable. But then the hysterical little girl came out on the genocide issue. With such an outspoken expert in the interview, it was very embarrassing. Why can’t Germans accept the fact that Israel is committing a genocide? Is it so hard to face the facts?
@@indridi It is rather simple because it’s not Genocide. It won’t become Genocide when a so called „outspoken expert“ says so. I respect Prof Mearsheimer but I don’t agree with him on this. Check back History to Hitler - Pol Pot and Idi Amin, if you need some examples for Genocide. What’s happening in Gaza is war with collateral damage. The truth may be hard on you but it won’t change therefore.
John Mearsheimer is taking a moral position and not a political one! John Mearsheimer has skillfully cornered Jasmin Kosubek, and hopefully, this will help her see the reality more clearly.
Yes, to him, and any logical thinking person, morality is just that, regardless of race, colour, creed, or social status. This thinking, this superior mindset that somehow immoral actions become less so depending on which side you are on, is immoral in itself.
It's not moral position . It just an honest academic pragmatism .He is a pro American , pragmatic thinker who wants the preservation of American dominance because he understands that Americans enjoy particular life style only thanks to control of capital markets and return on investments. What i found horrifying about the "final solution " was not the numbers murdered . But the fact that it was carried out in such a "matter of fact " manner ,by a civilised nation . Listening to this intelligent lady , who can be agnostic about a similar situation happening in Gaza , obviously her brain works differently to mine. " Her point being "As the palestinians can't win they should pack up and go and if they won't they must accept their faith . Unlike the Israelis ,most of show have duel nationalities ,the palestinians have nowhere else to go
You claim that Israel pursues a policy of "the final solution" towards the Palestinians. How exactly are they doing it? Do they build extermination camps to deliberately murder all of them?
1:23:02 "But these things happen all the time in history" - So, she is basically saying, when the Germans attacked Poland in their grab for German Lebensraum in the east , the Poles and the jews should better have accepted "what IS"; they should have accepted "unfair peace" and "things that are unfair", to quote her own words. 1:20:55 Should the Russians have took up the Poles, their slavic brothers, when they got under attack by the Germans?
In the end the interviewer threw out both logic and empathy..."why don't they" - emphasising that the Palestinians should simpy shut up shop and leave despite centuries of connection to the land. And in the context of how other ethic groups & nationalities historically have endeavoured to push back when being disposed, why must the Palestinians be different or an exception? Could you imagine telling an American or Englishman something like that if someone encroached on their property? Also, as the Professor righty said, you need to think empathically. How would you feel if you were in the same situation as the Palestinians? Lastly, the interviewer, ignorantly or arrogantly, or both, generalises, suggesting that Palestinians in essence are Arabs just like all the other people in the middle east are all Arabs Imagine thinking this way about ALL the people in Europe? Imagine thinking this way about ALL the people in Asia? Imagine thinking this way about ALL the people in the America's?

Also, in "other players" if you count other countries of the world, most of the world overwhelmingly supports Palestinian state and oppose Israeli Settlements. Its like asking and pleading a bully to stop bullying and then in the end asking the bullied to just leave because bully is not ready to stop. I noticed while checking the interview that I never circled back to the question: Why are German leaders subservient to the US? So I went back and asked John and here is his answer:
"Germany is subservient to the United States mainly because it fears that Washington will abandon Europe for East Asia.

Still does not justify a whole country to dispose of its moral compass.
Where is the innate feeling of empathy and humanity !!!
The Palestinians should not accept theft, imprisonment nor their slaughter. I knew a black south African. He told me he was a child in the Apartheid era, and visited Switzerland with his mother through his Swiss father. He begged his mother to allow them to move to Switzerland.
His mother gave him a lesson he has never forgotten. "This is our country. And no racist thug or people is going to drive me or my family away from my homeland or yours."
And shame on those Western nations enabling this slaughter. PS. Apartheid South Africa was beautiful, too
“…Because they are Palestinian and that’s their land and they don’t wanna leave…” priceless
Actually it isn't their land. The reason most Palestinians have Egyptian and Syrian surnames is because their very recent ancestors migrated there when it was a British Mandate, looking for work, and prior to that from around 1900's when the Ottomans started building infrastructure such as railways. This lie of ownership now seems to be widely accepted but a simple Google search tells a different story. ...evidence for Muslim immigration into Palestine is minimal.

No way she is intelligent. She asked stupid questions thruout, not just on the Gaza issue. The Gaza issue just illustrated her intellectual dishonesty and her refusal to acknowledge facts presented to her by one of the most knowledgeable minds in the world.
@josereyes-md2ww when a lack of intelligence and prejudice converge, then you get the kind of questions she poses.
This lady: I just want the fighting to stop, so let's give Israel what it wants and help it ethnically cleanse the Palestinians from their land by asking the arab states to take in the Palestinians. She most likely has no idea that there are millions of Palestinian refugees already living in many arab states.
That's nonsense. Most probably less than one million. Arab population of Israel was not that numerous in 1947.
@ just Jordan has over 2 million. The numbers don’t stay stagnant. A few hundred thousands become millions over a 70 year period.
If the situation would be the way that You describe it, I would agree with You. No doubt. But it is not.
Still I feel really sorry for the population of Gaza because they are being used by the iranian mullahs and other islamists to put pressure and to perpetrate terror on Israel. Gazans should be freed from Hamas and Iran.

Initially, her professionalism was excellent, also the good English was remarkable. But then the hysterical little girl came out on the genocide issue.
There's nothing moral about Mearsheimer, which his support for Russia's imperialism and genocide against Ukraine.

" Her point being "As the palestinians can't win they should pack up and go and if they won't they must accept their faith . You claim that Israel pursues a policy of "the final solution" towards the Palestinians. How exactly are they doing it? Do they build extermination camps to deliberately murder all of them?
Thank you for teaching Jasmine a lesson. She was acting naively while she knows it all.
She blames the victim for ethnic cleansing, not the perpetrator because she doesn't like who is on which side. She is racist like most Germans.
Professor Mearsheimer is the man ❤
In the end the interviewer threw out both logic and empathy..."why don't they" - emphasising that the Palestinians should simpy shut up shop and leave despite centuries of connection to the land.
Lastly, the interviewer, ignorantly or arrogantly, or both, generalises, suggesting that Palestinians in essence are Arabs just like all the other people in the middle east are all Arabs
Imagine thinking this way about ALL the people in Europe?
Imagine thinking this way about ALL the people in Asia?
