I always do a hole back of semi hollow so that, i can reach electronics easily. I can always block the hole with something. Have done that to cheaper semi hollows now but i would do it to like, Gibson too if i would keep the guitar :)
been there. it's not that bad. youtube, patience and money for the new parts is all you really need. in my case i put the Faber bridge and stoptail, pickups and all the electronics
I'm going to very carefully (so I can reuse that piece as the cover plate) cut an opening into the backside of my semi-hollow, so I can tear apart a GK3 and embed its guts in the instrument. I love this guitar but I rarely play it any more because the guitar synth is absolutely integral to my playing now, and there's no real way to put the GK3 brick on a trapeze tailpiece guitar without it looking flat horrible and getting in the way of my arm.
Damn, that monologue about failure hit me like a ton of bricks. I've also had my share of projects that didn't turn out but I hadn't thought about them in that way before. Thanks for that.
Now I'm gonna have to get out my 40yo Black Telecaster™and redo the wiring again. :-D And I think the Strat bridge will go byebye and be replaced with a Tune-o-Matic, a la Seymour's Jeff Beck TelePaul from way back when.
One of my favorite things is getting a high quality guitar for cheap because it's got lots of road wear on it (because someone loved it and played it a lot). Then put in my favorite pick-ups, add things like a trem or coil splits, and then I've got a unique dream guitar for a reasonable price. The main thing is that I work with the guitar, make it my own, and continue its story.
Love the new pickups. Love how you’ve learned so many “tricks of the trade” to make your work cleaner and more logical. Love how you play the harmonics. Such “outside the box” thinking and playing. Always look forward to your videos.
You got yourself a new subscriber. Complete respect that you made these changes and then weren't afraid to jump in and try again - especially on one of the hardest guitars to work on and get into and out of. I think something said really struck a chord - I think PAFs sound amazing on full hollowbody guitars... but for semi-hollow and solid body guitars I think most people struggle with the fact that they lack "character" for cleans. For 335 style guitars I think Eric Clapton was the first guy who showed many of us that they, like many LPs, need a higher output pickup to hit the front of the preamp the way we want. Not just for heavy things though for cleans and Jazz playing. Also I've been playing for years and have typically switched between Ibanez Artcore full hollow and Fender style guitars... though I finally have a couple 335 style Ibanez guitars. Its still a challenge for me because I typically like full hollow or full solid - though every day I play a 335 I like it a bit more. Also I've had trapeze tailpieces added to my Ibanez AS73 guitars and so it "feels" more like the full hollow archtops, takes an .11 set well, but I like using these for funky things, Hip Hop, and recording. Also those wide angle pickups look like a great choice for that Sheradan. Kudos.
i also impulse purchased one of these during my later high school years for the exact same "wrong" reasons so seeing this project was so cool for me! watching your videos has gotten me super interested in the idea of modding some of my current guitars :D also that ending jam was incredible! your leads are so emo-tinged and catchy
Not to sound corny… You have given me so much joy with this video! You are truly a breath of fresh air. From your narration to your technical skills and then onto your playing and so much more… thank you! BTW I royally messed up a near finish guitar body today. This video has more than made up for my near unfixable goof. Thanks again 😃
i subbed a few months ago because your demo songs were incredible; and this is is no exception--AMAZING playing!! Gorgeous guitar as well; it may be a bit too big for you but at least it has the sound to match after those mods ✨
The Duesenberg Les Trem rules! Only issue I had was with the nut that holds the bar loosening up over time, so I just used some threadlocker. Really good design. They owe some credit to some 60's Japanese guitars that had similar mechanics
Great guitar, and great song! I also wanted to thank you for being a part of the inspiration for me to change out pickups and pots on my favorite guitar. Soldering and all the wiring was a bit daunting, but seeing your love of modding and determination to make your gear better helped me to take the plunge as well. I had a few hiccups along the way, but I got it worked out and my guitar is better than ever. Thank you so much, and keep up the great work!
First video of yours I have seen as it popped up on my feed and I have a now abandoned guitar I started to mod. That being said, your instrumental demo is the best, that is my favorite, I have come across on youtube. A perfect melodic blend of technique and emotion built up into a roller-coster of awesome! Thank you so much for this!
Nice to hear the twang those Wide Range humbuckers bring, you're never gonna get that twang from a P.A.F no matter how you dial it in. They really are that weird hybrid between sounding like a P90 and a Humbucker.
Great lesson here! Any guitar can be made into a guitar for you with some mods and good choices in those mods - get the guitar that inspires you to pick it up, tweak the tone with mods, pedals, amps, and/or whatever else! One more thing, though. I’d love to hear why you feel wide range pickups are better for your style of playing vs. PAF’s. Just a curiosity I wish you had answered. Maybe you can answer that in a future video. How does one know which types of pickups are right?
WOW! Not only was this a really fun journey to go on throughout the video, but that song at the end was amazing! Beautiful harmonies, kind of evoking that magic emo happy-sad vibe but in a different context with your own personal style, incredible. I would pay money to listen to that song, and I don't say that lightly, well done!
Woo! New Nisebelle video, my day is made! Much like you, I picked up an Epiphone Dot purely because I thought it looked cool. It's seen so little use, but I recently decided to turn it into my first mod project and then you dropped this video :)
北澤ゆうほ from the Peggies does play the Gibson Memphis ES-335 Semi-Hollow Satin Black , not the Epiphone ! But a better Choice is the Yamaha SA503 TVL Troy Van Leeuwen Signature Electric Guitar which was played by 石本 知恵美
The flipside of picking up a guitar because it makes you happy is that, if it doesn't, then maybe that's one that needs to go. However, the hoarder in me makes that part difficult :) The hoarder is supported by the tinkerer - who thinks that maybe with a that guitar will be what I hear in my head and the feel I want in my hands. And when do you stop - and go look to buy something that may have what you wanted in the first place - with no mods necessary? I'm with Nisebelle 100% though - hollowbodies look ridiculous on me.
When I first watched your videos last year, I'd *had* the odd pickup replacement done for me, maybe swapped out some easily replaceable hardware on a guitar or two. I think "Bocchi on a budget" is where it clicked for me. My thought process went something like "Wow, women who mod guitars are so cool... wait, I'm a woman and I own some guitars!" Your willingness to take on stuff you hadn't attempted, just try and figure out the big pitfalls to avoid and go for it, just made me realise I can also just *do* this stuff. The occasional new tool here and there, picking out just the right part of the job - turning "pretty good" into "just right". I've sure spent a lot of money since then but all of my electrics are the "just right" side of that equation, I can more or less solder, and sometimes women tell me I'm cool for modding guitars and I'm like... "Yeah! You should try it!" As far as my "All the wrong reasons" guitar, funnily enough it's also an Epiphone, specifically an Emperor Swingster. Nowadays, it's even prettier than it was when I got it and it sounds like the Gretsch it's obviously taking its aesthetic cues from - neither of those things would be true if I hadn't been inspired to try and do what you do. And funnily enough, I've also gone from a collection of predominantly hardtails to an unruly mixture of Bigsbys, Fender Floating trems and vibrolas, with one token Floyd in there for fun...
I just love how you add layers on layers on layers and have it sound so fantastic. For me, its always "where is she going to take this?" And so fun watching it go.
Tip. I just recently bought a 7 band equalizer pedal. Being my money is limited I bought the Behringer EQ700 new for only $25. It is a clone of the Boss 7 band which sells for $150. I am amazed how well it performs. It is giving me a lot of flexibility for dialing up my tones. I am a retired sound engineer and very particular about tone. I am playing a Sire Larry Carlton S3 strat. I am thrilled with it.
There is no greater feeling than when your failures (no matter how many, how few, or how long in between) become your success. Awesome video, And hella cool guitar!
There is something truly satisfying about being able to work on your own instruments. I started doing it out of necessity, because I couldn't afford to pay someone to do it. Thankfully, the internet existed, albeit nothing like it is now, and I was able to find some help online (this was about 25 years ago). Nowadays, I do it all because I enjoy it. I love seeing people take an instrument off the shelf and turn it into something that is THEIRS; an instrument that suits their needs specifically. Great job and the music at the end of the video was awesome!
Never seen this channel before. This video is inspiring. The tool drop sequence pulled my finger to the subscribe button with an irresistible force. Maybe I'll even go back to that abandoned project guitar.
Personalizing each instrument truly makes it your own. Your videos have inspired me to modify my bass guitars. Indeed, I also own a bass purchased for less-than-ideal reasons, but I concur with your sentiment: choosing an instrument should bring joy. While I'm neither in a band nor a professional musician, playing has become a cherished hobby and refuge for me. Additionally, I'm a fan of your background tunes and the jams you compose. I'd love a tutorial on your creative process for crafting such cool jams and your mixing techniques. Keep up the excellent work.
thanks YT for recommending this video. Dig the attitude you bring very chill but much like me get hyped about picking up a guitar and figuring out what works for you. Also killer sounding riffing. Subbed now to pick my guitar project again.
Respect on doing the work, I’m not sure I would have touched it. I do like the new set up, sounds clean and the growl is nice without sounding fuzzy. Nice job!
Wow, your Sheraton sounds fab! Loved your song at the end and how well the pickups help the guitar sit so perfectly in the mix. Great wiring job too 🙌 Thanks for stringing up with Rotosound 🧡
Saw a Sheraton, thought to my self “RUclips story time!”. Unexpectedly saw the cleanest pickup swap in history and learned a few things I didn’t expect to learn. Then you hit me in the feels with that tune and that tone. Sub. Freaking. Scribed.
Glad I found your channel. I think a lot of other guitar channels have become quite similar. You really have a fresh approach to this and I thoroughly enjoyed your storytelling and well as your talented playing. Subscribed immediately!
Amazing playing, work, and production as always, Nise! I've been considering a set of the PAF-sized wide-range for a semihollow build of my own, so thank you for the solid tone demo on a similar instrument. Tone seems somewhere between the two, which is about what I was expecting. You have truly made that instrument your own!
I just wanted to comment that I really appreciated the mustang video, your schematics helped me get the wiring I wanted with one single coil neck and one single coil sized humbucker (jb jr) bridge. I now have a push pull spit on the bridge and your wiring helped me get phase/series/parallel! also like this vid too!
I love my Sheraton 2. It's a perfect workhorse, plays great and stays in tune. I' ve used it for rock, blues, jazz and country. It has severed me well for almost 50 years. ve
Wow! That was so cool and so helpful. I have an Epiphone 335 (inspired by Gibson) and other than the horribly unfinished fret ends (fixed those), it's a great guitar. But I want a tremolo and I don't love the pickups. So now I might have a path to follow. Thanks!
Wow, beautiful guitar and really nice upgrades to it, I love how dilligently you performed the modifications, really good! And the playing afterwards sounds really awesome too, keep rocking that cool Sheraton, I think it's actually really cool that it's a bit larger than you would expect. @emilywolfemusic rocks one too and sounds absolutely awesome with it.
Did the same thing with my Epi Riviera, never owned any other Gibsons but fell in love with a riviera just based off looks and size (I’m 6’6 so bigger the better) Great videos as always ! Missed your stuff in my feed
This video was absent-mindedly playig in the background and I wasn't paying attention... until she started playing! Wow! subscribed. I like that music!
Wow! I truly admire you for for taking such a risk and coming out with a gem of a guitar you've done well. Wow, wonderful and of course you've learnt so many tricks of the trade Wow! Can you put the nice work and wonderful wonderful indeed. Very impressed and many congratulations on your success. May you prosper and enjoy your hobby. It's like you live and breathe it wonderful. Bless you. God bless 🎸🤗🙏✨
What a beautiful guitar and a completely relatable story! I have two that fall into this category and I'm torn on what to do with them next. Great video!
Awesome playing! I had exactly the same experience with my 335-style guitar. So difficult to work on. Literally spent all day replacing pickups and pots, then got the wiring wrong. Been putting up with sub-par ever since, and I'm convinced that the guitar's tone hasn't reached its potential either. I need to redo it correctly, now that I've learned a lot more about working on this style of guitar.
I feel validated. As a fellow math rock player who plays predominantly offsets, I modded my Gibson SG (a 94 model I bought in 2008), with a Les Trem back in 2016. most friends thought I was crazy! I have trems on everything now, including my baritone. Blame the Jag for converting me.
This just showed up on my feed, and I really enjoyed the video! Fantastic song at the end, loved it! Those pickups sound pretty great, I've never used Wide Range HB's before, but they sounded really sweet. Subscribed!
Stumbled upon this video and ended up really enjoying the whole thing :) Making an instrument your own through mods isn't the easiest, but it's so meaningful and brings so much excitement before, during and after. Thank you for sharing your journey with us! Also, the music choice throughout the video was soooooo good! And also the playing was fire🔥
I am a big fan of semi-hollows. I have heavily mod-ed all but one of mine, tuners, PUPs, new pots and caps and the best mod of all on a multi-pickup instrument, a master volume with treble bleed on the lower horn like a Gretsch has. Done that to 3 of mine so far. Working through the F-hole is a challenge but after a few it gets a lot easier. Use a cardboard template as you demonstrate and leave extra wire for everything. Where it gets really fun is a full hollow-body with NO F-holes and you have to do it all through the pickup and control pot/jack/switch holes using pull wires on each bit through each hole all at one time. My Eastwood Rockerbox DLX LTD is like that. But she is done now and I love her sound and playability with 3 custom wound P90s and cross wired neck and middle for a 'greenie' tone at full bleed. 3 volumes, tone and master wiring setup.
Sheraton’s as a platform to upgrade are INCREDIBLE! I traded a pedal for a road worn one years ago. Swapped out the guts for parts from a 335 and added a Bigsby. Sounds and plays amazing!
My equivalent project guitar is my classic vibe mustang. In the 4 years I’ve had it, it has been the only guitar I’ve modded so I can learn how to do everything. I’ve swapped pickups to Seymour Duncans (quarter pounder bridge and lipstick neck) and upgraded to 250k pots (accidentally got linear instead of tapered pots 💀). So I totally resonate with your whole message in this video.
Changing the guitar guts through the f-hole without smashing the instrument in frustration is a commendable feat
I always do a hole back of semi hollow so that, i can reach electronics easily. I can always block the hole with something. Have done that to cheaper semi hollows now but i would do it to like, Gibson too if i would keep the guitar :)
@@kuitaristi3003 that's kinda brutal :\
Yes, exactly 😭🎸.. but the rebuilding has begun 🤠
been there. it's not that bad. youtube, patience and money for the new parts is all you really need. in my case i put the Faber bridge and stoptail, pickups and all the electronics
I'm going to very carefully (so I can reuse that piece as the cover plate) cut an opening into the backside of my semi-hollow, so I can tear apart a GK3 and embed its guts in the instrument. I love this guitar but I rarely play it any more because the guitar synth is absolutely integral to my playing now, and there's no real way to put the GK3 brick on a trapeze tailpiece guitar without it looking flat horrible and getting in the way of my arm.
the playing at 5:48 was phenomenal! all the right chords and notes for eachother so satisfying!
Hear hear! Really impressive playing all throughout that closing song 👏👏👏
Feels Yvette inspired to my ear. Love it! :D
I get more plini vibes
I need to be able to get this on Spotify!
Def was saved to my 'Music to Learn' playlist.
I love how you make each of your instruments your own
Damn, that monologue about failure hit me like a ton of bricks.

I agree 🙂 Pretty cool to see all the little marks and dings, that’s the past of the guitar
Exactly..Well put.
This is why I don't like reliced guitars. Fake age and wear is hollow. The damage should tell the story of the player's love of the guitar.
I see a Nisebelle vid. i click the vid
Edit: song at the end is insanely cool keep writing these sick songs!
Love the new pickups. Love how you’ve learned so many “tricks of the trade” to make your work cleaner and more logical. Love how you play the harmonics. Such “outside the box” thinking and playing. Always look forward to your videos.
Wake up, new Nisebelle dropped
Two days late but I literally woke up to this :)
💩
YOOOO the flexible tube trick to pull the pots into place is GENIUS.
Holy crap ! What a wonderful video, so glad I found this. Wonderful . Thank you. Very instructive Cheers

0:14 I love that you included Rubens - Tenshi-san.
Love the way you set up shots for your videos, and that guitar is sweet, both aesthetically and sonically!
Nisebelle vids always deliver omg i love the instrumental demos at the ends, i love nisebelles playing style and i hope i can play like that one day
Im always so impressed with your songwriting. Everything else about your videos is great but the songs take my breath away
gosh, i think we need a vdo about ur guitar playing style. like ur influence or favourite artist/guitarist. u r a great player!
i subbed a few months ago because your demo songs were incredible; and this is is no exception--AMAZING playing!!
Wow, what an inspiring video. I don't get along with PAFs either and haven't fixed my Humbucker equipped guitar for months.
The production value of this video was crazy! Bravo!
OK BUT WHEN YOU STARTED PLAYING WITH THE BACKROUND MUSIC I GOT THE BIGGEST SMILE
Holy shit! Such a well made youtube video! Amazing work, well done!
Yeah, what a great video editing and storytelling. I like that this is not the usual televangelist guitar RUclips content. Great stuff Nisibelle
wh-wh-Wow! Who are you, and why are you the coolest person I don’t know? Everything you said and did is awesome! Thank you!

Woo! New Nisebelle video, my day is made!

Nice you sound great. Good job on your video edit as well.
There is no greater feeling than when your failures (no matter how many, how few, or how long in between) become your success.
Awesome video,

Great job on the Setup and Mod's, sounds amazing, Definitely not a Tele.
Looks like you have adapted to the size well!

Wow. Great chops. Love the tune and the style too. That’s a sub.
Never seen this channel before. This video is inspiring. The tool drop sequence pulled my finger to the subscribe button with an irresistible force. Maybe I'll even go back to that abandoned project guitar.
Everytime I am so impressed by your playing. There is great story telling in every song you play, not just a display of technique. A joy to listen to.
Excellent video of your labor of love on your guitar as well as awesome guitar playing!

I have the same model and stayed to see your mods which where cool! But left thinking Wow! Nice chops!!
6:20 some NEXT LEVEL playing there. Well done on the guitar and well done with the playing.
thanks YT for recommending this video. Dig the attitude you bring very chill but much like me get hyped about picking up a guitar and figuring out what works for you. Also killer sounding riffing. Subbed now to pick my guitar project again.
Love your style and presentation in your videos!! You’re amazing!
You make such great videos, Keep up the great work :D
You make me smile! Keep rockin'!
you and you're playing made that thing sound awesome. great job!
Educative and honest account of modding with some great playing and tone at the end. thanks

Wow, you are really good at putting videos together. Its like a movie, nice playin too. Rock on
I just wanted to comment that I really appreciated the mustang video, your schematics helped me get the wiring I wanted with one single coil neck and one single coil sized humbucker (jb jr) bridge.

Wow! That was so cool and so helpful. I have an Epiphone 335 (inspired by Gibson) and other than the horribly unfinished fret ends (fixed those), it's a great guitar. But I want a tremolo and I don't love the pickups. So now I might have a path to follow. Thanks!
I hope you never lose your inspiration. The music you come up with is truly Nisebelle. It's unique and very cool.
Did the same thing with my Epi Riviera, never owned any other Gibsons but fell in love with a riviera just based off looks and size (I’m 6’6 so bigger the better)
Great videos as always ! Missed your stuff in my feed
This video was absent-mindedly playig in the background and I wasn't paying attention... until she started playing! Wow! subscribed. I like that music!
Nicely done!
Your reflections are so full of wisdom that I almost thought you were reading from a skill share ad
I love your guitar playing too!
That tune at the end was righteous!
Beautiful work on the guitar.
Even more beautiful job on the song at the end. Brilliant playing.
Amazing video and editing! Keep it up::)
Blame the Jag for converting me.
very inspirational :) plus the new filming style 👀
Another amazing track. Really inspiring me to revisit some old projects a bit wiser!
Great work. Loved the tune at the end. Cheers.
Epic transformation. I put a Les Trem II on my 339. It’s fantastic.
Subscribed after watching you change the pick ups in that Epiphone like it was a throw away skill.. That was awesome!
Sheraton’s as a platform to upgrade are INCREDIBLE! I traded a pedal for a road worn one years ago. Swapped out the guts for parts from a 335 and added a Bigsby. Sounds and plays amazing!
Love all your videos .... thanks !!
Great job I just did similar with my guitar and it bring you closer to your music.
Wow! Great skills all around - love the sound of those pups and your chops.... been a fan of wide-range since having the SLs on a Tele...
