It truly is! That whole scene- I mean, having participated in theater, etc - that’s pretty incredible - the whole thing. The laughing, the eating, etc. it all looks like real. I mean, it’s better than some of the best dramatic scenes. Legitimately. I think comedy is very underrated as an art form
@@Sassyglbeauty Agree. Purely comedic movies don't win best picture. It's not uncommon for winning movies to have comedic elements, but it's usually dark comedic elements, or incredibly mild humor on the side.
I remember first seeing him in Bruce Almighty, and he completely stole the show. And that's not an easy thing to do in a Jim Carrey movie. It confused me that he wasn't some giant star yet. And then The Office came around!
@ what you are saying doesn’t make any sense, for example the song American Pie, is an American Icon, regardless of where it is played in the world, the brand Levi’s are an American Icon, regardless of who is wearing them in the world. The Notebook is American Icon, regardless of where it is being watched around the world.
Such a good watch, thank you. And I feel like Emma stone's tape was even better than the film version, more natural, allowed more of her charisma to shine through
I had such a huge smile when watching Steve Carell’s clip. Damn he’s so good at making people feel good. Or even just reacting because when he’s doing the more “serious” stuff he’s really fantastic too
Started acting as a hobbie and four years later I got offered to lead in a period comedy piece in a small theater, and I am torn between loving the role and horrified to fail and ruin the show for everyone if I get nervous. Watching these awesome actors nail the audition fills me with amazement but makes me doubt I got what it takes haha
Do it scared. Someday, your 70-something self will look back and thank young you for actually doing it, despite the doubts. DO IT SCARED! May God bless you 💪💯
youre missing then best audition ever. The kid from E.T...Literally makes me tear up watching the kid say his lines. He is like 10 and his acting is amazing. Watch the audition.
Awesome video. Thank you. I was just have a "discussion" with someone who said, "actors just repeat lines that are written for them." I suppose that some do, but this proves that a talented actor brings more than just the words, they bring life to the role.
Its just the camera they used. The camera for auditions in early 90s is the normal camera for for a cheap production company ten years later. Glad we know you've noticed it though and that's what you took from this video.
The first time i saw Jason Momoa was in Stargate Atlantis playing a character called Ronon. This was way before Conan or Game of Throne. I could be wrong, but i think Conan the Barbarian was the first time that i saw him on a big blockbuster movie.
Whoever recorded this video is an idiot and either didn't do enough research or just decided that Stargate: Atlantis wasn't a big enough deal to be mentioned. Stargate: Atlantis was SUCCESSFUL as a TV show, while Conan: the Barbarian was a box office bomb.
I bet Steve Carell knew he was killing it in that audition. Like when he goes back to the coffee filter after he finds out it's trash it's too perfect.
Seeing Jim Carrey reminds me; he is so primed for his “John Wick” moment. Not action, per se, but a good role under budget, designed to make bank no matter what. Like a slightly comedic Noir. Unexpectedly career defining.
Had a gf in the 90s who worked for Jerry Beaver, an nyc casting agent. One night she brought home Bruce Willis's audition reel from the old Levi's 501 Blues commercials. At the time he was a bartender and he played harmonica.
Nice collection mate! Some real gems here. Note that Momoa had a solid supporting role on Stargate Atlantis as a techno-Barbarian trading on physical presence, which helped push him out of Baywatch zone and into contention for the fantasy/action pieces that came later.
I noticed Carell in Bruce Almighty. His scene going nuts on national TV broke me more than anything Jim Carey did in that movie (which is something to say).
Amazing topic, video, editing, production, narration - everything! Genuine shock when I saw that this wasn’t a channel with a million subs already and 100k+ views on the video. Good luck on your way to the top!
Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gossling really didnt get along on the set of The Notebook.... it wasnt till much later that they got together. They were such a cute Canadian couple ❤
Wow I almost forgot all about that movie. Haven’t seen it in at least 30 years. I remember Cruise in it but the one who stole the whole movie was Timothy Hutton, IMO. So incredibly good.
I wouldn't say that Jason Momoa's career "started" with that audition tape for Game of Thrones. He'd already been a lead character for all 5 seasons of Stargate Atlantis.
Steve Carell's ability to make himself go beet red on command is formidable
It's really easy to do. I used to do it all the time when I was a little kid.
He's a brilliant comedic actor though. Not disagreeing there.

Did you ever see him and Stephen Colbert's audition for the Daily Show? It's called Waiters Being Nauseated by Food.
Great
@@loosilu Haha I just saw it, thanks!
I love how in the Steve Carell one you can here everyone dying in the background
I love how you made it to adulthood without learning the difference between here and hear.

8:55 shows Rachel McAdams nailed her audition with a final cut performance 🎯
Absolutely! That audition was just about perfect!
The Notebook became an American Icon delivered by two Canadians 😂
It can't be an "icon" in other countries?
...like maybe Canada?

Steve Carell fake gagging while still fake eating a bite of the trash burrito had me laughing so hard & it wasn’t even real 😂😂 what a gem he is

Mark Hamill really put everything into that role. It's underappreciated, seeing how no one mentions him in the comments.
Steve Carell's audition was 100%
hilarity. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Everyone there was genuinely laughing.
McConaughey is better in the audition than in the movie, and I love him in the movie.
I loved seeing Rachel McAdams doing her audition as well as the same actual movie scenes, fascinating!
Its eerie how much tom cruise’s audition unintentionally mimics those shitty early 2000’s porn flicks

I couldn't get over the $300 in 1980. That's insane.

Ronon Dex was an awesome character (thx to Momoa) with one of the coolest guns in cinema history.
Same!! I was surprised they didn’t mention Stargate!
0:33 dude's parents are both powerful Hollywood execs. He didn't need to audition. He got the part the day he was born.
I've seen that Steve Carrell audition a dozen times and it still makes me laugh. Just the effort he puts into laughing is insanely contagious.
If there is a single movie that launched the most careers it’s “The Outsiders”!

Rachel Mcadams is something else. What a great actress.
hummm no, Hugh Laurie had a very successful long carrear way before House MD, his performances, as an example, Black Adder is awesome
WHAT!!!!! I had no idea that was Matthew McConaughey in Unsolved Mysteries. That was the freakiest episode too. 😮
Dude, Michael Cera was already a star at this point thanks to playing George Michael Bluth (AKA Mr. Manager)

Man I can't forget Steve Carell's news anchor funny bits in Bruce Almighty.
Jason Momoa - you somehow forgot that he was in Stargate Atlantis as "the tough guy not a beach boy" for FOUR YEARS before being "the mainstream"?
our species will never see another one quite like Jim Carey...!
That unsolved mysteries clip was wild
"Given his success with The Cable Guy..."

Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gossling really didnt get along on the set of The Notebook.... it wasnt till much later that they got together. They were such a cute Canadian couple ❤
Tom Cruise was in a movie called taps like 3 years before The outsiders

Matthew McConaughey was so fine lol
That wasn't Rachel McAdams breakout role 😂😂😂 She already did the hot chick and Mean girls (!!) before that!
13:00 - FTR, that's not trademark Carrey. Jim was literally copying a routine Kaufman used to do. You can probably find it on YT.

Hugh Laurie already had a successful career before House, that audition didn't launch it.
Exactly,it was just outside of America.
Hugh Laurie was well and truly "launched" decades before House.
You seemed to forget Emma stone was in SUPERBAD. Way before zombie. And it wasn’t a bit part. She played the female lead.
Why does everybody always forget that Jason Momoa had a major role on Stargate: Atlantis before GoT?!
I never knew how good looking he was without that long hair. I’m sure I’m in the minority but he was soooo hot when he is “all cleaned up”.

Saying Jason Momoa was "stuck in beach dude roles" and ignoring that he starred for FOUR YEARS on Stargate Atlantis is criminal.
Hold up, no mention at all of Jason Momoa in Stargate Atlantis? He was great in that
Brian Backer who played Mark Ratner in Fast times at Ridgemont High was hired to be in Risky Business.
So, the casting couch?😂
Oh c'mon. Jason Momoa was in Stargate Atlantis in a Drogoesque role for almost FIVE YEARS in between baywatch and GOT.

Hugh Laurie was already a very successful comedian and actor before he auditioned for house
The fact you didn't mention Jason Mamoa's StarGate role tho....
6:21, if you were wondering who was sitting behind the camera, he has now throroughly betrayed himself!
excuse me but hugh laurie was a huge celebrity well before house its just that americans have no sense of humour and didn't know british comedy exists
HOW are you ignoring that Momoa was in Stargate for multiple years?!
