    • @fintux
      @fintux 26 дней назад +15

      Yeah. Atacms is actually a _short range_ missile. and the strikes are not "deep in Russian territory", they are just deeper than what they used to be. Russia is a country reaching from Norway to North Korea, 300 km is barely scratching the surface. Obviously this brings russia lots of logistical dilemmas and brings many fixed military targets into range, so it's significant step forward, but would be nice if the media used correct terminology.

    There is absolutely no room for negotiation between Moscow and Ukraine at this point. The situation is clear: the Russian forces launched an invasion of Ukraine without any justification or provocation. This aggressive act of military intervention has violated Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
    Therefore, it is imperative that the Russian troops withdraw immediately and unconditionally from Ukrainian territory. The need for a peaceful resolution is evident, but it must begin with the acknowledgment of Ukraine's right to exist as an independent nation free from foreign aggression. Until that happens, any discussions or negotiations would be meaningless and counterproductive.

    what or who ever was in that bunker must have been bloody important to warrant that kind of strike.
    It is with more than a little smirk of pride that I worked at the UK factory that makes Storm Shadow. There was at one point a bit of consternation following a strike on a bunker complex in North Africa that only one impact point or hole could be observed. On further analysis it was found that the second missile had gone through the hole created by the first, so yes, these missiles are extraordinarily accurate.
    On another note I'll wager that there must have been world wide panic when the early warning systems picked up an ICBM launch not knowing if it had a nuclear warhead or not.
    I can imagine a few politicians heading for the toilet before the bunker!

    The UK cutting back on defense in the present security situation?! Just to put some perspective on that: The Nordics, who have focused on cutting back on defense spending and developing their welfare states over the last 30 years are arming their defense forces in an unprecedented fashion: They will reach 3% of GDP in 2025 - Denmark possibly reaching 3.5% by then. Their economies are insanely strong, so this matters. All together 1 mill. Nordic troops (incl. reserves) in 2030 is the target. That is larger than both the UK and France...

    PM Cameron sold the Harriers to the US and scrapped Illustrious a few years before HMS Queen Elizabeth was built.
    This is SOP in the modern era.
    As for the 'Falklands' problem. At the Falklands we have RAF Mt Pleasant which was built and maintained at significant cost. For other territories (?) we will have to use other assets, i.e. US, go without. Which we did before HMS Albion and HMS Bulwalk were commissioned.
    What matters is - what next.

    I would think the fact they're plowing 1200+ a day into the eastern advances, clearly not sustainable, means they have high confidence that in January there won't be a need for continued fighting at that level. So it's not correct to say they're panicking. The step by step increases in American and European weapon supply are frustratingly predictable.

Aircraft reliability is low, aside from Poland most NATO countries have no sustainability. After this ends Ukraine and Poland will be the strongest members of NATO after the US.
