1 of my favorite Kobe quotes about why he played hurt, "Somebody in those stands planned, saved up, took off, just to see me play. I can't let them down"
Yep, that's why guys like Kobe, MJ, Larry, Magic, Dr. J, Shaq, Kareem, etc. are TRUE legends. It wasn't all about the stats. It was about winning and setting the right example for everyone else. I definitely miss those days.
Totally agree with all 15 opinions! I have lost interest in today’s NBA game; 3 point contest, no defense, no calls on travel, no physicality, and game load management 😂
The thing that upsets me the most is the amount of traveling. It's ridiculous...and don't talk to me about a gather step. None of these 15 guys needed it.
This 1000%.. it's honestly sad seeing that carrying is so accepted by the nba and lot of young hoop fans.. it makes dribbling way easier with the illusion of looking more skillful
I used to love watching the NBA. I wouldn’t have ever thought the time would come when I didn’t watch a single NBA game in three years. But that time has come.
@@GeoRedtick same here. I used to follow it passionately. I lost interest a few years back but my son really loves basketball so we watched the finals last year. I kept saying loud “this is just really bad basketball”- low effort, lots of turnovers… in the FINALS!! The game is not interesting now
K.G. is nourishing these younger players because he came in young and learned from THEM. His baptism was against some of the tougher more skilled players in the game.
100% agree with everything the legends said. Adam Silver has made the game soft and these new all-stars crapping on the older generation is just downright despicable.
Edwards is a spoiled overrated player, he does not play teambasketbal but only playing for himself. Moreover he is not a skilled player himself, yes he can jump and he is athletic but his dribbling, shooting and driving is not very special. He only thinks he is a special player because everybody tells him and he is gonna believe that nonsense.
Responsibility does not solely rest with Silver; it also lies with the players and the metrics. NBAPA is a partner of the NBA, and they dictate how the game is played. The marketing numbers said fans were more attracted to scoring than the 'Bad Boys' defense. Sports science experts advised management on the importance of rest days for optimal performance. The scoring metrics told coaches that shooting 3s would be better than 2s.The combination of all these factors made the game the way it is.
@@fredlin6303 Meaning. The game was changed from being a competition to being entertainment. During the 80's and 90's and early 2000's, games were were tougher, more defense oriented, but the scoring was decent. Also, more players played 82 games regular season. With the advancement of of sports medicine, players today play less games and rest more. How many players in recent years played an 82 game regular season? GOAT Jordan did it 9 times in a 15 season career including in his last season in 2003. Jordan......The GOAT.....Playing 82 Games? Why? Because he is the most competitive mother!!!!! The game was made SOFT. Now Players Are Soft. The NBA is no longer a competitive league. It is now more for "entertainment" and gambling. The NBA is Now like the WWE (except for gambling). The Last Great Champion Team is the 2014 Spurs. That Team was the last of the Old School and The Beginning Of The Current Style. The NBA is boring now and the best players are Europeans. Jokic, Doncic and Now Wemby will be ruling in the next 15 years. American players became too lazy and decadent.
These older players have great wisdom. Kareem's understanding of not only the game of basketball but of life is incredible. Shaq is not Giannis though. He was bigger and stronger than Giannis.
@@jjacobson225Exactly. Shaq can't say he could thrive in this game today, which is largely a run and gun track meet. What made him effective was his ability to push players out of the way to get to the goal. He never could shoot from any distance from the goal.
Yeah, to perfect a big man hook shot is beautiful. Almost impossible to block, but takes a lot of talent and skill to pull of consistently. And look how effective MJ was with so many mid-ranges and how to get there.
That's just nostalgia. People always think the old times were better. Watching an 80-78 basketball game isn't really that entertaining. It would be similar to every football game being 13-10.
@@darylfoster7944 Perhaps. But I don't look back on football as being better 30 years ago. The hits were better but the offenses and passing games are light years ahead of where they were. However, I'm right about basketball. :)
@@vagabond197979 To each his own. I think the overall level of athleticism is much higher today. I don't see the fascination with grabbing and hand checking, and there's still incentive to shoot close to the basket. You just have to make a high percentage for it to be worthwhile. I'm a Cavs fan, and Jarrett Allen shoots every shot within four feet of the basket. He makes 70% of them, so it's valuable, but if he were only shooting 50%, it would be a bad shot compared to a three. Also, shorter shots are almost always congested, whereas many threes are shot without a hand in the face.
@@darylfoster7944 It's hard to disagree that the athletes have gotten better. My beef is with the game style. Analytics has decided that you must take only two kinds of shots: a three pointer or something close to the rim. I'm not even saying the analytics are wrong, I'm saying the game was much more aesthetically pleasing, to my eye, when players were working the mid-range game. What would Michael Jordan have done in today's game? I'm not sure he would be all that special if he couldn't shoot a mid-range shot. Maybe I'm just an out of touch boomer (I'm actually not a boomer).
@azrielnguyen9586 agreed, I haven't watched it since kobe. I thought LeBron was going to make Cleveland a superpower. But he sold out. That's when I really stop watching. I just watched the Finals, and they disgusted me when the referee's rigged the games, clear back to back fouls under the ring and no call.
One of the most efficient shot is off the glass. Tim Duncan was known for his off the glass shot, using the box. There was a reason why he was called the "big Fundamental".
Yep and many folks don't know that the "NO HAND CHECK RULE" was put in place because of Derek Harper. He could literally hold a player in place with with just one hand! 🏀
This is a fact, which why I find today's pro game uninteresting and have stopped watching but for the occasional 4th quarter of certain playoff matchups...the regular season is a complete bore- three pointers and one on one drives to the hole is about it- the mid range game, ball movement, and the low post game are virtually non-existent during the regular season- and add to that the league disallows any kind of effective defense for the most part.
massive ball carrying, no hand check, 3p no touch rule, free of movement rule, easy calls, punishing physicality (no mistake with violence) and stuff like that really really changed the game to the point that nowadays international game is tougher than modern NBA.
You can also see this when the USA play others teams in the Olympics. US used to dominate, that's not the case anymore. The NBA has gone soft and skill advantage lost
@@TheChannel1978 international level increased a lot, and you can not come into Olympics with just two weeks to adapt to a game not just different to NBA, but a game that even the ball or rim sensibility is different. You can not create a team in two weeks. You can not adapt to different set of rules in just two weeks at this level of professionalism. You can not adapt in just two weeks a style of playing more similar to NCAA than NBA. Skill is not enough anymore
Every player talking about passing the ball is absolutely right. There is a reason why the Spurs, as the oldest team in the league at the time, went back to back in the finals during the 10s. They passed the ball to everyone. The ball will always travel faster than any player.

@@FloSick808 yep. Guys take 3 or even 4 steps, no travel call. And at the same time...sometimes you see a guy barely move his foot when he's standing still & gets called. It's nuts. I get that's the way it's called today so guys are going to take advantage, but guys saying it's within the rules...only if the refs (at the league's direction) ignore the actual rules. That and the carrying...guys used to doing all this stuff, if they got time-dropped to 20+ years ago, would have 5 TOs in the first couple minutes.
I’m a person who’s been watching NBA basketball ever since the early 70s before they even had breakaway rims. i’ve seen all kinds of changes to the game, in my opinion, when James Naismith invented basketball, I believe he designed it as more of a sport to have a team of five on the court to prevent the opponent from getting the ball through the hoop so that would suggest that it was defensive oriented.. I have absolutely no problem with offense, even if it comes in bunches, but it is unwatchable when you see the game going one-sided with players doing the same thing over and over and the opponents not doing anything about it. it’s even worse when high profile players purposely sit out games just because they can. There are 82 contest a season, not including the playoffs so people definitely feel a certain way when they can’t see their favorite player out there to perform, especially when they paid hundreds of dollars to go see them. what needs to come back to the NBA is more of a versatile game that favors both sides of the ball, the rules definitely have to be readjusted to favor both the offense as well as the defense. As far as what athletes could have played and whatever, I think, if you have the skills to be a professional basketball player, you should also have the ability to make adjustments, the one thing I will say is that with every era , players become alarmingly, bigger, faster, and stronger to go along with better technology. but being better goes along with your talents and not necessarily your era
Agree with all 15. I only watch the playoffs now. Growing up and into my mid-20s (2010), I never missed a game on tv. Never missed a Finals until 2012. Now, the game is unbearable. I've coached at the youth level, they are trying to be Curry and jack up threes. The game has never been worse.
Hahah, yep! All the young kids trying to jack up threes like they Steph Curry, but A) They haven't nearly put in the work, and B) Most didn't grow up around the game with an NBA father. But if we do coach youth, at least we can try to re-direct the kids to learn the fundamentals, learn roles, best for each player's size, strength and abilities. Discourage the threes. You can tell your youth team: "Anybody jacks up a three pointer in a game, but they can't make 8 out 10 threes in practice, they cost the whole team. Next practice is all about post game and mid-range. We ain't shooting threes for a while." I dunno, maybe other people have another way to encourage the young kids to learn the game the right way, the old school way?
I think two factors that are overlooked, are (a) defensive 3 second rule and (b) the huge size of the key. defensive 3 second with a massively wide key makes it nearly impossible to defend the paint
Part of it is the coaching, I guess they realize how difficult it is to teach defense as in today's game as it takes more effort without the hand checking and restriction on physicality on defense
Rick Barry gave far too simplistic of an answer. “If they can shoot 3’s, take away the 3”? If you extend your entire defense 25 ft, the lane defense is gone. It would be a dunk fest. You can only pick one or the other. Also, look at a guy like Steph. He’s rip Hamilton with far better range and a far quicker release, needing a microsecond of daylight to get off a shot from anywhere. You can’t just take that away, not that level of skill.
Totally agree on all opinions. I loved 80’s and 90’s basketball. The physicality of the Knick’s vs. Bull or pacers or Pistons and even the Rockets vs. Jazz or Lakers or Spurs or SuperSonics, I don’t even watch basketball anymore! Shout out to John Starks and Patrick Ewing! I miss the 90s Knicks
You didn't even talk about the comments of the European talent in the NBA saying that scoring in the NBA is much easier than the European league. I think Luka Doncic said that.
It's not necessarily toughness as such. You have to work for your points in Europe. You had to hustle to score in the NBA in the 1990s. Rodman won games on defense alone. Or earlier. Wilt was better than Russell. Russell and the Celtics won all those championships because of game plan. The thing is, nobody can stop a player like Wilt, Kareem, Shaq, etc. one on one. You have to use smarts. Like the Bulls and Rodman against Shaq.
I agree with every single comment made by these great players. JJ Reddick and Anthony Edwards should both be made to wear DUNCE Caps and sit facing a corner of a classroom, and THEN be forced to watch film of ALL the NBA Greats from GEORGE MIKAN on down!!!
I grew up watching’80s & ‘90s basketball. Aside from Jordan you have tons of players that would light it up in today’s game such as Dominique Wilkins, Isiah Thomas, Bird, Miller, Drexler, Gervin, McHale, Worthy, Magic, Barkley, Hakeem, Kareem, Malone, etc, etc, etc
Not true. There was still Stockton, Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp, David Robinson,Tim Hardaway and Alonzo Mourning,Patrick. Ewing, a young Chris Webber and Iverson and Garnett. And of course Shaquille O'Neal, along with Penny Hardaway and Grant Hill. Timmy Duncan came into the league and led the Spurs to a championship in 1999. Along the arrival Dirk and Kobe was a all-star in 1998. Today's NBA talent is lacking badly 😢
Man, it’s the forgotten about players that would be all world in this era! What would Derrick Coleman average in this watered down era😳! Drazen? Hersey Hawkins? Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway, Glen Rice, I mean I could go on and on!
I agree with these guys all day. Being 47 now, I played when I was younger and still play some today. But, the younger guys definitely have no moves and can't understand the physicality that my generation had to learn from the guys that were older than us. I truly miss physical centers that used to own the game. Most centers of today are soft and shoot too many threes. Nba of today is not as exciting at all.
Why, because that's when you grew up with it? Everyone is entitlex to their opinion anbd none of them were wrong. I''ve been watching the NBA since 1966 and I'd take the 80s over the 90s any day. The 90s were almost exclusively about Jordan and the Bulls. The 80s had greart Lakers, Celtics and Pistons dybnasies teams and some other very competitive, fun to watch teams. Just my opinon.
2000s to early 2010s was the best in my opinion, balance between physicality and defense 2000-2014 was goated Although I wouldn't bash the 80s and 90s like other GEN Z's
Even as a old guy (45), and former D-League and CBA player (before G-League)...I like playing the young hopers at the gym and park. They swear you play hard because you guarding them within arm's reach, and if you guard them at half court they really feel some type of way...my response, this how we played back in the day. Normal defense from a old guy, is too much defense for them
Agree 200%. All Star game style basketball. Some games of the regular season are just unwatchable, very often visiting teams not even trying. Bunch of players on the bench dressed like gang members clowning around.....fkn circus.

The 80s and 90s were amazing and fun to watch. They didn't play "crybaby" and flop around or switch teams every other year. They stayed together as a team and played for the game with the ring in mind. The Jordan/Johnson/Bird years rocked!🏀
If you want to see the game of basketball played at its purest form, the college game is it. Professional basketball is nothing but a mockery as opposed to the college game.
I am 54 and 1000 percent agree with these guys. Double header on TNT in the 1990s, you did not miss those, no matter who was playing. All teams were good.
I watched the NBA mostly between 1995-2005, it was much more entertaining than now. In my opinion, what makes the game entertaining is not the high number of points, but the very good defenses and the points scored despite these defenses. Tracy Mcgrady's legendary 13 points in 33 seconds are so valuable because they were scored back then.
I'm 42 and I play with these youngsters aging 20 - 30y.o. And I'm not kidding my team always wins against these youngsters. I told them "in 10 threes you shoot how many you guys made? 4? So that's 12 points. Didn't you notice in 10 layups we attempt we made 8, that's 16 points. That's why you keep losing even if we're not that athletic as you guys."
But in the NBA they shoot threes AND make layups/dunks. What's mostly missing is everything in between. Because if you shoot 50% on mid-range twos, that's a worse choice than shooting 40% (or even 35%) on 3s. But if someone is shooting over 60% on mid-range twos, then fine, go for it.
@@richatlarge462 I agree.. but they're pros, their numbers are far beyond average joes like us. Steph, Reggie and Ray can surely hit 10/10 from downtown..
I point that out and some guy young buck wanted to debate that. This is the same with Soccer, Cricket, the nfl, basketball and so on. Soon sports will be made in a basement somewhere in Hollywood. Just a whole lot of actors especially soccer. Players roll around as though they got shot.
Some people say players should are more skilled now, some of the passing in 90s, we don’t see much anymore, Rod Strickland, Kenny Anderson, mark Jackson. Some of those passing skills we do not see no more
Bro the league has easily regressed in skill. Magic johnson is the best passer ever, jordan best little man post player, olujawon best big man post player, dont even get me started on stamina, guys today dont even play 82 games when it was expected back then... totally different game. And im 24 i never even lived in the 90s
Some of my favorite games to watch were when the bulls and Nick's final scores were 85-83. It's hard to watch the NBA now when it's just a 3 point contest and no defense.
Some points that the old guard has made in this video are 100% valid. My big issue is that I’ve done some of my own research. I grew up watching basketball around 2008. Since then, even with that brief time I’ve seen the nba change a bit. But I kept hearing how the nba use to be. So thanks to RUclips you can go back and watch pretty much any team ever play. The biggest lie that I feel like is being fed to people is how physical the game use to be. And how defense you to be sooooo much better. After watching games from the 80s and 90s especially it’s clear to see that tho you could get away with harder fouls and not get ejected from the game, but fouls were called if guys barely even bumped into each other. I have personally watched multiple games of Michael Jordan’s Bulls play the Detroit pistons. My actual thoughts were how easy it was for both sides to get calls. Sure you could basically punch a guy and get away with it, but when it came to just straight up defending a guy. If you really bumped them at all that whistle was blowing. In todays NBA guys use there off arm. To create distance and seek out contact that previously would have just made the play dead by a whistle. I agree that at times in the modern era guys don’t always look interested and play to their max, but let’s not forget that it use to be illegal to double teams basically. You couldn’t just go help double for a sec or stand in between two defenders. During MJs time he knew if he was gonna be doubled and if so he could just pass the ball to the now open player. You’re lying to yourself if you don’t think that one rule instantly makes offense easier. My finally point is even though personally I’m not a huge fan of analytics the numbers don’t lie. The reason more and more threes are being taken. The reason less midrange shots are attempted are all because the league as a whole has gotten much more skilled. This is something the older generations don’t want to admit. A lot of role players back in the day may have been able to make in in the modern nba but not without a lot more work. You can’t just be a physical player anymore. You have to be fundamentally sound pretty much in every category these days just to make a roaster. I love basketball and now and then I have to stop watching today’s nba and go back and watch older stuff just to refresh. Each era has its pros and cons. The nba constantly is evolving and you don’t have to like it lol it will continue to do so as long as there is a league.
You're hallucinating. NBA in the 80s and the 90s was way more physical. Centers and forwards were playing in the paint and were far more valued than nowadays. The problem is that in the late 90s, talented centers (Ewing, Mourning, Shaq, Mutombo, Olajuwon, Barley, Oakley, Coleman, Malone, Larry Johnson, etc.) came to lack, the game was getting boring... the 2000s shifted to a revival of "Jordan-style without Jordan" (Iverson, Kobe, Carmelo, then LeBron, etc.). The rupture was Curry during the 2010s. A genius. But then everybody are just trying to copy him, even big fellas... The 2020s are just a parody. Jokic is bringing some fresh air, but he is the only one... Thanks to some European players, the style has diversified but it's still quite boring.
It's totally unwatchable now. The traveling, the players don't defend, the game is so soft now...everybody wants to play with their friends there's no rivalries and let's not forget about the whole load management.
Allstar games were real battles back in the day. Real basketball games to watch very entertaining. Competitive, but nowadays only 3 point shooting, million dollars contracts and load management
@starkcycles310 , BS!! N̈O defense. Give every 80-90 players AT TEN-15 POINTS TO THRIR STATS TODAY!!. TAKE AWAY THE SAME FROM TODAYS PLAYERS IF THEY PLAYED THEN! NO real, true rivalry like Boston... L.A. , Bulls/Indiana...New York.
It's gotten so bad that I can't watch the NBA anymore, only check results occasionally, it is really sad, it is NOT entertaining. Same with the NFL, can't stand all the BS.
I was born in the 90’s and I can remember basketball then being in New York as I’m 32 now and I agree with the legends! I embrace the 90’s and 2000’s game because they played defense! They played competitive and also the game is diverse. You had mid range, big men in the post, defense and effort heck all of this mattered as a whole!
Coach Red Auerbach said to learn the fundamentals of all the positions. It seems they've only learned the fundamentals of one position: shooting guard.
@m.d.maxwell1594 what he's saying is that today's players lack fundamentals and players today cannot play more positions. AND HE'S RIGHT!! Skill level, iq, athleticism and talent are at an all time low. Not to mention the lack of heart for the game!!
@jasonwaznak5825 that's a lie. The players today can play more positions then the 80's and 80's. You got 7 footer now that can bring the ball up and play pg. You have guards that can play sf.Then most of all the players in this era can dribble and shoot. Yeah they travel alot and don't get called but I rather they travel, then try to hurt someone for going to paint cause that's the only way to stop them. That some weak ass shit.
@m.d.maxwell1594 Sorry kiddo but truth is truth no matter how YOU CHOOSE to slice it. Love how you say you prefer them to travel, that explains a lot about what's wrong with the cupcake league of today. And back then, we understood since the 50s that basketball had defense, unlike today. Contact was part of the game and we were used to being challenged every step of the way!! Oh and tell me about the 80s and 80s will you!!??
Because back then there weren't - after all - such attractions off the court as there are now. Back then only basketball mattered. There wasn't as much money. People go crazy when they get money, they prefer off-court glamour, red carpets, etc. Today the NBA is a show in RS, lack of commitment, lack of defense, ASG is a joke! Serious play only begins in PO. Once the players of opposing teams were enemies, today they are friends patting each other on the butts and giving high fives after matches. Zero aggression, balls and a desire for revenge for a lost match. Total fun. But what's important! Because of how the game looks now - fun in the NBA, the USA is weaker and weaker on the international stage. In Europe they defend themselves, in the NBA they don't defend themselves. In the NBA a guy hits 15 three-pointers, in Europe it's unthinkable because he would have left the court a long time ago. In Europe there is no fucking ISOLATION! And in the NBA he hits one across the entire court and plays to himself. In the US it may be funny but someone watching it in Europe can't believe such shit, sorry. Apart from PO there's nothing to watch, seriously. You want to see doggedness and balls? Watch the FIBA Champions League. There's been no balls in the NBA for at least a decade! PS.. I'm also surprised by the refereeing in the NBA - pharmacy. It's the referees (and therefore the NBA authorities) who are to blame for taking away the players' balls. You punish them with penalties for anything, taking away their manhood. Give them back their balls!!!! You're taking away the players' manhood, which is already dying out. You can't wave your hand because you'll get a technical and a 100k fine for anything. You can't fart during a game because you'd even punish them for it, because it's so unethical. And that's why they run around like xxxx. Nothing is allowed in this NBA anymore. The guy's a pussy... There's more balls in the WNBA already... Give the fans back the 90s and 2000!!!! and finally start defending!!!!
You say back in the day they were "enemies". I think mostly only on the court. I know there were those who really hated each other but.... anyway, the rest is about spot on.

Played ball all through highschool and university growing up in the Bird vs Magic era. That is how I like the game. I realize everything evolves in life, in sports, and that includes, in the game of basketball. So, I'm not sure if it is today's game or the work ethic of today's players that has turned me off the game. There are no more "men" like Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Isiah Thomas etc., players who turned up every night, ready to work a full 48 minutes. It did not matter if they had a hangnail, a headache, or a fractured cheekbone, they had a job to do, and they did it. I find today's game boring, it is just a 3 point contest. Period. Full stop. He only thinks he is a special player because everybody tells him and he is gonna believe that nonsense.
@@robertpeters-kb4xsCorrect
David Stern is the one that changed the rules. Not Adam Silver.

Let's not forget Shaq couldn't hit a free throw for years soooo, ya
@@jjacobson225Exactly. Shaq can't say he could thrive in this game today, which is largely a run and gun track meet. What made him effective was his ability to push players out of the way to get to the goal. He never could shoot from any distance from the goal.
The mid-range and post games were such an art form. It took years to perfect and do it right. The NBA should be incentivizing these things.
Thank you. Even watching the highlights is boring to me. The game is soooo bad now.
We ain't shooting threes for a while."
I dunno, maybe other people have another way to encourage the young kids to learn the game the right way, the old school way?
I agree with the old school it's why I don't watch the NBA anymore I grew up watching the old school.
I don’t blame you either I just watch the highlights and even todays highlights are boring
So nothing can ever change? Do you also only listen to music from 40 years ago?
I think two factors that are overlooked, are (a) defensive 3 second rule and (b) the huge size of the key.
defensive 3 second with a massively wide key makes it nearly impossible to defend the paint
Rick Barry nailed it😂😂😂
Garnett then Barry had best takes. To bad hubie brown comments from 10 yrs ago didn’t make this vid. breaks it way down in 4mins.
Part of it is the coaching, I guess they realize how difficult it is to teach defense as in today's game as it takes more effort without the hand checking and restriction on physicality on defense
@@nicholasyoung2794 It’s the rules disallowing ways to defend, and loosening up rules on offense like not calling travels.
Rick Barry was definition of INEFFICIENT
Rick Barry gave far too simplistic of an answer. “If they can shoot 3’s, take away the 3”? If you extend your entire defense 25 ft, the lane defense is gone. It would be a dunk fest. You can only pick one or the other. Also, look at a guy like Steph. He’s rip Hamilton with far better range and a far quicker release, needing a microsecond of daylight to get off a shot from anywhere. You can’t just take that away, not that level of skill.

It's not necessarily toughness as such. You have to work for your points in Europe. You had to hustle to score in the NBA in the 1990s. Rodman won games on defense alone. Or earlier. Wilt was better than Russell. Russell and the Celtics won all those championships because of game plan. The thing is, nobody can stop a player like Wilt, Kareem, Shaq, etc. one on one. 80s and 90s NBA basketball was absolutely the best..... What they play today is not NBA basketball
I used to love the NBA in the 90s and I never realized why I didn't enjoy basketball anymore. This video is sums it up perfectly.
Yes. David Stern we miss you.
David Stern is the reason the NBA is rigged for gambling purposes.
NBA is way more skilled than back then
You're hallucinating.
The game has been softened up and watered down.
Allstar games were real battles back in the day. Real basketball games to watch very entertaining. Competitive, but nowadays only 3 point shooting, million dollars contracts and load management
30 years ago watching the NBA is like a battlefield now its like America’s got talent.
Every team was full off stars back then, no nights off in a city anywhere!
@@starkcycles310 🤣🤣🤣👍
It's gotten so bad that I can't watch the NBA anymore, only check results occasionally, it is really sad, it is NOT entertaining. Same with the NFL, can't stand all the BS.
Yes. I dont watch my home team oe much of the NBA anymore. The players run the league, and it's made it unbearably sad to watch.
@RandySmith-iz1ml AGREED the NFL has become awful to watch.
Completely agree how bad the NFL is and First Take spends 11 out of 12 months just talking football. Something is up 🤔
@@gsentinel4821 why is the NFL bad? Because you can't smash guys in the head anymore?

I was born in the 90’s and I can remember basketball then being in New York as I’m 32 now and I agree with the legends!
I embrace the 90’s and 2000’s game because they played defense! They played competitive and also the game is diverse. You had mid range, big men in the post, defense and effort heck all of this mattered as a whole!
Coach Red Auerbach said to learn the fundamentals of all the positions. It seems they've only learned the fundamentals of one position: shooting guard.
@ruminator3570 what position did they had beside hard fouls.
Today players can play more positions then the past,so what are you saying?
@@mj-dr8cj Hellyeah brother!
You say back in the day they were "enemies". I think mostly only on the court. I know there were those who really hated each other but.... anyway, the rest is about spot on.
Excellent post.
"There's been no balls in the NBA for at least a decade"
Reflects American society.
Thank you 4 sharing this vid. Hopefully, youngsters learn something. We do not hate today's bball, we have just been around to see😮 more than one generation of basketball, so we are in the position to compare. #80s90s4LiFe
I hope it get back to the 80s 90s even 00s. I haven't watched a nba game in over 5+ years. I hate today's game.
If you haven't watched in 5 years, how do you hate TODAY'S game? Lol
Period. Full stop. For me, I'm not interested anymore because "the game has gone out of the game".
Exactly 💯 it's rec ball at the YMCA. The integrity of the game is gone.
I just watched video of Isiah Thomas 1988 NBA Finals. He is injured, hurting and limping on one leg yet still racking points. Thats crazy 💯💯

These young guys have no respect for the game or it's legends. Its all about me and my money. They never talk about winning championships.
MONEY to them is the championship
@@BLUEGATORBOYZ good point.
What? All they talk about is winning. To that point, they get slammed for teaming up to win.
90's and early 2000's were the best times for me
I'd say the 80s, 90s and early 00s
Everyone wants to think they lived through the best era during their youth.
Very human thing.
I think we know all of this. It’s very restricted. Not to mention you can’t get physical with players anymore. Shaq said it and most of the players that have played in those years said it too. The NBA today sucks.
Wow! Rick Barry endorsing TEAMWORK! 😂
Beautiful video, I miss the 1/2 court game, the hook shot and the mid range jumper.
90's Dennis Rodman vs Karl Malone was a peak of NBA. That was a mental and physical battle.
Love to see Rodman knock dray out cold
Not just the NBA, international as well. They all need the moving screen to score.
