Messi has many primes because he never got worse as a player until maybe PSG's 1st season, but for me personally, this was his most lethal season in his career, especially in terms of focus, sharpness and hunger. Despite popular belief it started very rocky under Luis Enrique until around January/February when Messi & Neymar were benched due to a disagreement or bust up before the away game vs Real Sociedad (which was a very important and tricky game for us in those days considering they always got a result against us in their stadium). Messi Neymar and Lucho made peace after that, and idk what happened but all of a sudden we started playing some outrageous football as a team. Beat every champion of the top 5 leagues on the road to the treble too (Ajax, PSG, Bayern, Man City & Juventus). Messi was also in his physical prime at this point. Still extremely fast, very good fitness levels and the way he was going past players, pressing, and turning into a maestro slowly but surely was out of this world. Let alone the passes he gave, the goals he scored and the moments he shared with MSN. Also a very underrated partnership with Rakitic who was instrumental in winning the treble. Overall one of my fav seasons as a Barca fan.
