I had this in 2008. Was in the hospital for 28 days. My lung collapsed from it. I don't have AIDS or anything either. My Dr. Said it was extremely rare. I worked for an awning company at the time, had worked there for about 8 years at the time and we had a lot of biannual customers (we'd put their cloth awnings up in spring and take them down in the fall and store them for the winter) and we had to brush all of the dried bird shit off of them when putting them up or taking them down. That is what was determined to be the cause of mine, because when you brushed it off, it would go into a dust form and so from breathing that in over the years that's how I ended up getting it. Was on Diflucan (Fluconozole) 3x day for I think about a year.

I believe that it is C.gattii who live in trees such as eucaliptus, not neoformans itself!

Jack Salvatierra I am currently battling the same thing. It is a fungal pneumonia caused by Cryptococcus fungi the doctor said.

@Denis Dougherty I know this is an older post but I have some type of fungus that causes these lesions to come up on my skin mostly on my face and arms and there's these little white plugs that almost looks like worms that you can pull out and since I started taking potassium iodide I, they feel like little hard pieces of skin but before, they were jelly like and they're white to clearish. It seems like the bigger they get, the more clear they get and I don't know what this could be but did you ever notice anything like that? I definitely have a productive cough. I'm coughing up so much yellow, thick mucus and it's so disgusting. I'm a smoker but I have to cut down so much because of where I live, we can't smoke on the property that there's just no way I should be coughing stuff up like this and it's just gotten worse and worse and I get these scabs inside my nose that hurt really bad so I started putting the athletes foot cream on it and it is helping but it's coming from inside of my body so I know I'm going to have to treat internally as well. The good thing about fluconazole, that's the one they give for a yeast infection I'm pretty sure so if I could just get some sleep, is all and take that, hopefully it would clear it up because the Medicaid that I have only covers Family Planning like oral contraceptives, OB-GYN visits and fluconazole is something that I can get from and Ivy GYN so if I can just figure out what it is or even go to the hospital then I could get a prescription of that and Medicaid would cover it because it's for Women's Health, AKA yeast infections which is fungal but this is just crazy and I've never seen anything like it. It looks like what they call Morgellons but I don't believe the Morgellons hype, I think most of morgellons is a fungus and people just don't know oh, I think it's a fungus presenting in a way that it never has before and so doctors just don't know what to do with it
