I definitely prefer contact lens. I have the top end of the spectrum for astigmatism in both eyes. I also really have no nose bridge so glasses slide no matter what I do. I just turned 42 :( but I have bifocals too so they want me to try one near/one far lens to see if that will help. I haven't bit the bullet yet, but will soon.
After i put on contacts for the first time in the store i walked outside and felt like captain america waking up from his coma and seeing how the world changed
If you can get them in that is. I'm struggling for close to a month now. Somehow I can't get my eyelids to stretch out enough, and my reflex is way to resistant as well. Back to glasses it was.
@@simono.w.2995 how I get mine in when I wore them in the past. I’ve looked up, opened my eyelids. When I pop them in I look down directly after I popped them in by looking up.
Can you tell me how long they last? Do we have to purchase new pairs like every month or something? I've never used one, and I'm planning to try them out. I've been using Glasses for more than 6yrs now.
I needed glasses when I was 12. Started using contacts almost exclusively until I was about 16. I was initially uncomfortable with the way I looked with glasses, but I can't say I liked the feeling of contacts either. My eyes not only felt dry, but overall, just really tired after a day of use. Plus, I ultimately embraced the look of glasses on me once I was in high school and almost entirely stopped wearing contact lenses. Because of this, I was recommended to switch to the disposable contacts due to how infrequently I wear them, and that's pretty much worked out well ever since. There are rare occasions where I find it's better to wear contact lenses, like when I'm doing something that involves physical activity, or am performing a piano recital onstage. It's always nice to have options!
That’s cool. You must have really sensitive eyes since you say you felt tired after a day of use. Most of family say you get used to them after a few days. But I’m glad glasses work for you!
i just got contacts today after wearing glasses for about 3 years and it feels so nice not having to carry junky pieces of plastic around and btw im 13
I've had glasses for like 5 years and I switched to contacts like a year ago almost. It took a month or two until I found the right brand for me because I have really dry eyes
So far, I prefer my contacts. With the glasses, my nose hurt, My face started to look foreign to my peers, and any physical activity became a chore. I'm also, literally blind. So I misplace them a lot.
@@ling-je7kd Mine got done in because i loved reading books. I spent my time reading everywhere, so now I'm near sighted. Also, update. My glasses are broken. I sat on them, (didnt see then), and they split right in the middle lol.
@@notareallin620 I have -7 ouf, but I have contacts I can sleep in, but have to take em out one night a week, and I sometimes just go blindly around when they're off bc I'm lazy lol
Just got contacts today. My glasses got really oily because I’m a teen and I have bad acne, and the bridge of my nose was always irritated and red. The glasses fogged up whenever I went outside in winter or wore a mask. Contacts are a lot better in my opinion, the peripheral vision also being in focus is a big plus.
as a woman who wore glasses since age 5, getting lenses at 15 was a huge improvement especially because my big eyes didnt look so big and feminine covered by -5.00 thick glasses. Now i'm 21 and they have been a life saver: my vision is way more natural (to the point that if i wear my glasses i get dizzy), my makeup is more viisible, i can work out better and i can wear masks everyday without fogging. i hope i can get PRK done and finally be done with paying to get eyesight
@@bringmebacktolife7768 it took a few months to get used to the process of putting them on and removing them (i had to cut my nails pretty short too). I never really had a problem with stinging, but they felt funny at first, like they were going to fall out lol. But I was hooked on them from the first year, and soon i was able to manipulate them carefully with longer nails. And they dont really feel like anything on my eyes anymore
@@ghhhhhhhhhh Thank you soooo much for going out of your way to tell me!! I just got mine and it's been stressing me out. @@bringmebacktolife7768 oohh don't give up on them so soon! Maybe your eyes are a bit dry, in that case there are eye drops with the same composition of tears, so you can keep them lubricated and confortable. It's no trouble for me to talk about my experiences at all, and I hope the best for you and your sister!
Great Breakdown! I'd add that you should always own a pair of glasses, since you shouldn't wear contacts while having a cold or other infections. You could spread the bacteria in your eyes and cause more infections. I like to wear both, my glasses suit me well and I have rather dry eyes, but contacts work better with my anisometropy and are really convenient.
I wore glasses for two years before trying contacts and I regret not trying them sooner. I have to say it did take several different lens trials before finding one that worked great for me so don't give up if the first ones you try don't feel right.
Yep! Contacts all the way, I don't understand people who choose glasses so much, its bulky, you can break them, idk, guess it's preference but contacts are so much better imo once you get comfortable.
Honestly contacts are a life changer for me after wearing glasses for so long. They're so comfortable to me and easy to care for 😊 and I have no problem inserting and removing them. I remember being so shocked with how much I was missing out on seeing with just wearing glasses. 😅🤣 now I just stare at everything because I love seeing everything in such clarity! I don't have to worry about my glasses sliding off my face, getting smudged, scratched or broken, and not having my glasses leave a painful indentation on the bridge of my nose 😬. I also don't have to worry about my vision getting fogged up while wearing a mask. All in all, I'm very happy wearing contacts! 😊
Some ppl wear their glasses for so long, their heads start to grow around the glasses. Kinda disgusting, but now you know where the glasses go when they remove them thanks to the crevices.
Contact lenses all the way! I’ve been using them since I was 14, and my eye doctor has been amazing and super understanding. Dry eyes? Of course I get them from time to time, but that’s why you keep good hygiene when handling them, get drops, and not sleep with contacts on of course ☺️
Can you tell me how long they last? Do we have to purchase new pairs like every month or something? I've never used one, and I'm planning to try them out. I've been using Glasses from more than 6yrs now.
Delphina Playz Roblox exactly what she said! Plus, it depends on how often you’ll wear them. For example, I usually buy a case/box of 6 pairs of weekly lenses and each pair lasts me for 2 weeks or longer since I do not sleep in them and do not wear them everyday. In my scenario, total time between I buy each case is about 3 months, and since this pandemic stuff broke through I’ve been stretching it as much as I could (6 months since I don’t wear my contacts everyday)
I love that glasses express my personality. I’ve been considering some contacts because of COVID. I personally don’t love when my glasses fog up with my mask, but I have dry eyes and don’t want contacts irritating them.
Been wearing glasses for the last 6 years, and I just started wearing contacts almost two months ago and I wish I did it sooner! Definitely a plus while wearing a mask but you do have to wash your hands well before touching your face because of COVID. It’s also great because I work out frequently and sweat and fog would get on my glasses. You could always give it a try for a week or two and see how it feels
I really prefer both. I definitely see the best through clean eyeglasses but contacts offer me so much versatility. I also find that while my vision is overall better with eyeglasses, this is especially true in low-light scenarios. Also my depth perception is a lot better better with glasses. That being said, I wear contacts 80% of the time. Especially since I play tennis. So if i’m laying around the house, I want to wear glasses and if i’m out and about, I stick contacts in.

I have -5.5 and -6 contact lens prescription with astigmatism in both eyes. I still feel like I see better with soft toric contact lenses than glasses.
@@DoctorEyeHealth I heard that's common for people who are used to wearing their contacts during the day and glasses at night, because the brain has made a connection between taking off your glasses and winding down for the day. 😊

@David matke & @doctor eye health same here, contacts make the visibility so much better for us with astigmatism and soft toric lenses, just changed the game.

as someone who has been experimenting with lenses for about a year i can clearly say i prefer glasses. Having myopia i was suggested to try control ones which left me with irritated and dry eyes and unclear vision- especially with 2 weekly/monthly. Even after trying non medicated lenses i found the experience to be quite far of even with a higher prescription than my glasses. And i wish i worked well with lenses as i am a very active person but sadly i dont think they will work out :(
I’ve learned to love my glasses thanks to the pandemic. In my state, we can’t go to the eye doctor unless we actually have a disorder so a routine eye check is out of the question. I only ordered my contacts before they said that they couldn’t give me anymore contacts because my prescription was out of date. I never liked my glasses but my husband loved them and people started to give me compliments which gave me more confidence in wearing them
For me, I like glasses more bcoz it's easy to clean, u can take them on and off anytime or anywhere, they're not very expensive, they have cool frames and a lot more. Well this is my opinion about glasses!
I think for myself, I’m very much biased towards contacts. I’ve just started wearing them this year and beyond just the ease of not having to worry about fog or having them slide down when exercising, I just feel a lot more like myself when I look in the mirror.
10 years ago the doctor told me I couldn't use contacts because they didn't make them for double vision. How times have changed.... playing sports and doing makeup is so much easier with contacts.

I prefer contact lenses. I've been wearing glasses for 27 years and I have a high prescription (-7.0 and -7.5). After I got over the initial issues of taking the lenses in and out, my world changed. Contacts are amazing and I'm so thankful I changed over to them!
I’ve been wearing glasses for about 26 years. Tried contacts a couple years ago and the first pair I tried didn’t work out and I never bothered to try a different pair. Then coronavirus hit and finally after a year of wearing glasses with a mask I was fed up of the constant fog and decided I would try contacts again. Thankfully the first pair I tried worked out great. I’ll still continue to wear contacts even when I no longer have to wear a mask.

I love contacts! I am so use to them. When I wear my glasses and I walk down a flight of stairs I am always afraid I will miss a step. Mind you, I have been wearing contacts for 30 years!
Valerie Comeau I can relate to that. I am so used to contacts, one day I was on the packed crowded train wearing my glasses, and there was this beautiful scenery, so I moved my face closer against the window to see it. My glasses frame knocked hard against the train window glass, I was so shocked my body reflexed I twitched hard and taken aback it so obvious. Non prescription sunglasses are the reason I chose to try contacts. I've been wearing glasses since early childhood and even feel naked without them. They're just part of my face. However, in recent years I got really into mountainbiking and as I (very slowly) progressed to more heavy riding, my precription sunglasses got scratched. I also found that proper riding eye protection with prescription lenses are very expensive compared to my regular prescription sunglasses or even non-prescription eyewear. Daily contacts just for riding are a good and cost effective compromise for me.
I've yet to meet anyone over -7 that can comfortably wear glasses, honestly. Regardless of thinning or lenses it seems that fishbowl effect is unavoidable when you get into those prescriptions.
I've been wearing glasses for a few years now, and just a day ago, i went to the eye doctor, and she suggested that I try wearing contact lenses, even though I have astigmatism, normal soft lenses have changes my life so much. Struggled a bit with putting on the lenses, but thanks to my dad's help I got them on in around 10 minutes. I prefer being able to see clearly even with the astigmatism artefacts, without the frame, and the glasses on my face, because I can feel the wind (that's a feeling I have forgotten since I began wearing glasses). My nose also got very oily, which is not good for acne.
Both has its pros and cons to me honestly. I've used glasses from the beginning and I'm so used to it now but because of my condition the prescription is so high. I've never liked how my glasses looks so 'thick' and definitely proves it blocks my useful side vision. 😂 The contacts gives me more control over how I look to people but because of the nature of my condition, my eyes are severely dry therefore I can't last more than a few hours in them without constantly having to rewet my eyes. I think (I have RGP lens) the costs of purchasing cleansing products and everything still total out to be high each year which doesn't necessarily justify the cost of a one time purchase glasses that can last without needing to correct them in a few years time. Having both available options to cater my needs definitely helped rather than dropping the contacts completely.
I have been using contact lenses from 2 day's. Though Initially it was difficult, I like the experience of wearing contact lenses. Other hand for me glasses are bit uncomfortable can't use while playing sports.Hecce contact lens are better choice for me
@@furqaanhaafiz659 No it won't. They're designed to fit perfectly in your eye so make sure you tell your eye doctor you're interested in playing sports/running with them during your appointment.
Great video. I prefer both. I have contacts and glasses and find that each suit my needs for different occasions. At the end of the day nothing is better than taking my contacts out and wearing glasses. Yet, at work or out in the daytime I prefer my contacts because it’s less obtrusive on my face. I think if you have contacts you should also have a pair of glasses as a backup. It’s not a question to me because you never know when you will run into a situation where your contacts are not cooperating and/or they rip and your glasses will save the day ( and your eyes).
I love both, especially when it comes to the occasion or event a pair of awesome glasses and be the crown jewel of your time. Lenses are also a cherry on top to look at your best without glasses.
I've been wearing glasses since I was about 12 years old, I decided to get contact lenses a month ago and it's completely changed my life! A major factor which was putting me off contacts was I thought it was be a lot more expensive than it actually was! I pay about £11 a month from my opticians (although its probably cheaper online) and I love my contacts, no more steaming up when I wear a mask! I don't even realise that I'm wearing contacts most of the time, another thing that was putting me off was touching my eyes. Once I overcame this fear (and around 4 visits to the opticians) I managed to master contacts! Its crazy how much glasses can alter your appearance too
As a high prescription (-10.0 in contacts) person, I greatly prefer my contacts. Now that I’m getting older and starting to need reading glasses I’ve actually switched to mono vision. One eye is correction for distance (-10) and the other for up close (-8.5). I’ve worn contacts since I was 16, wish my parents would have let me get them sooner!
Can you please tell me what is your age And from when do you have such high prescription I am 23 years old and I have -6.50 in both eyes And sometimes I fear that with time I will loose my eyesight. If you see it please reply
@@user-cc1so5tq2pgenerally it tends to get stable between 21 and 25 years. But, also generally astigmatism changes a lot in a range of 0.25 to 0.75, it can increase or decrease.
I have keratoconus, and are in the process of getting scleral lenses. I have a pair of glasses to wear until I get my lenses and for when I can’t use them. It has been a bit hard finding lenses that fit perfectly for me, but my eye doctor finally did just last week. It was a revelation for me who haven’t seen clearly for a long time to actually be able to se every little detail. The glasses help, but they aren’t perfect. For me, lenses are the only option for seeing clearly, and I am really looking forward to getting them. Thank you for your videos, they have been a huge help for me after I got diagnosed. Especially those on hard lenses have helped me through the process of trying on lenses.
AMAZING! Thank you for sharing! Those are my favorite moments in clinic when someone who hasnt been able to see clearly...finally can...they just light up and radiate energy. Maybe 6 months ago I fit a lady (with keratoconus) in a scleral lens and she left walking around the clinic telling everyone how well she could see. Made my day. Thank you sir.
I recently made the switch to contacts, and they are just so much more comfortable than glasses. I love my old glasses, they're colorful, have gemstones, and transitions, but most glasses arent designed for people like me with shallow nose bridges. With contacts, I dont have to worry about glasses constantly sliding down my nose, or leaving red marks on my nose from pinchy nose pads.
God, I relate on a spiritual level. My nose bridge has made my glasses slide down almost immediately after I re-adjust them and has caused my astigmatism to skyrocket.
I see WAY better with contacts... when they aren't dried out, that is. My glasses only allow me to see clearly 1 foot in front of my face (hopefully my new pair will be better) but with contacts, I can see most things clearly. Only problem with contacts is the dryness. :p So for me, contacts win when I'm able to wear them! 🖤
I wore prescription glasses for 10 years without trying contact lenses. From 12 years old to 21 now. Due to COVID with the mask wearing, my heavier glasses was getting much with the fog up & discomfort on my ears. I am a hair dresser and I wanted to try out contacts. I’m so glad I did. It’s been way more comfortable and I don’t have to worry about touching my glasses then touching my client :)
I've gone back andd forth with contacts for like 15 years. I usually do a year on/year off with contacts. I love them, but my eyes ALWAYS feel tired after wearing them. I get my glasses and contacts updated at the same time too! I've moved to strictly glasses for the last year and half, and I feel like my eyes are definitely less tired and stressed. I have an astigmatism in both of my eyes. Im at like -4.25 in one eye and - 4.75 in the other.
3:00 - 3:47 I love your videos so much, Doc. You’ve taught me so much about vision, glasses and contacts. I’m someone who has a really strong prescription and high astigmatism, and they keep getting worse slightly every year still (even though I’m 26) and have struggled with what you described there for about the past 4 years. I’m thinking of switching to contacts when I can next year and give them a shot. I know they’re going to be expensive, from what I was told, anywhere between $400 - $600 for a year’s supply worth. But what you talked about in the time stamp I mentioned earlier has even made me feel like I’m not all there, in a weird way that I can’t really explain, probably because of constantly seeing the distortion, and end up a lot of times just taking my glasses off to rest from that for a while.
Have you seen a cornea specialist? I wear lenses and normal contacts for years and finally a doctor referred my to a cornea specialist whom diagnosed Keratokonus (a deformity on the shape of the cornea) that with the use of scleral contact lenses (very expensive but covered my medical insurance, yes medical, not vision, because are medically necessary) I have 20/30 and 20/20 vision now…
I was wearing contacts for about 12 years. When I started spending most of my days in front of the laptop screen for work, I started getting dry eyes too often, so I've switched to glasses since, for the past 3-4 years. But I do miss wearing contacts for their freer and wider vision...not to mention the blurriness that comes from scratches on the glasses over time! I'm considering switching back to contacts, maybe at least by wearing glasses when I'm in front of a screen and contacts when I'm out and about.
A bit late but you can always combine the two? When I recently got my contacts for the first time, my optician said to make sure I don’t wear them all the time, like 6 days a week. Also, if your eye is struggling with getting dry, she also said to just not wear them that day.
@@samisankey3104 Incidentally, I've started wearing contacts again for the past couple of months. Before I stopped wearing them, I had switched from bi-weekly to monthly lenses. With the longer life, the thickness of the lens increases, leading to dry eyes more often. I've started with bi-weekly lenses again now, and haven't had any problems. I also use lubricant eye drops before putting them on in the morning and after removing them at night, which helps keep away the dryness. And yes, I give my eyes a rest from the contacts at least once a week. Cheers!
Definately a thumbs up for contact lens. I have an astigmatism in both eyes and glasses were getting dangerous for me with all the distortion as my eyesight naturally went on the decline. Also got sick of swapping between three pairs of glasses as my brain couldn’t cope with varifocals (like to move my eyes as opposed to my head)! I also naturally have dry eye, but the right contacts and regular eye drops make this not a problem!
This is an old comment, but since you solved your problem, I am hoping you can answer my question. I have dry eyes, and despite wearing some expensive hydra-luxe contacts lol, they still exasperate the dryness. I have tried various eye drops for contact wearers and they don't do much. I've been wearing contacts for about 5 months and I'm still getting the hang of it. Ha. It sometimes takes 15 minutes to get them in, but I'm not throwing in the towel. If I'm in a real hurry... I just grab my glasses and go!
After I started wearing glasses, I noticed I started getting sick on amusement park and carnival rides. I figured it was just a combination of dehydration and getting older. I went to a fair after starting contacts a month ago and the difference on sickness was huge! I went back to not being sick at all and it was amazing!
At -7 and -6.5 I wear contacts generally; mainly due to that distortion you spoke of. I basically have to move my entire head to see because looking at different angles through my glasses just creates seasickness. As work im often crawling around at heights of 20-150 feet walking on open air exposed structures and the glasses really get amplified at heights.
Great info. I prefer glasses though I have never tried contacts, I can't stand things near my eye and struggle with even eye drops so I doubt I could do contacts.
😅 that's normal clwade 13 every day I train at least 3 persons for contact...its a normal reaction when something is moving towards our eye we tend to close our eyes...so at the beginning the first trys its really a struggle but as we keep practicing we learn to control our need to close our eye and blink during the process of putting in or removing contact lenses...
Wearing contacts is dangerous if you have other underline health problems I believe. I requested the use of contact lens 10 years ago in hopes to achieve better acuity. Upon wearing them for the first 3 days, I began seeing rainbow halos around light source. I immediately took them out and returned to the doctor immediately in which they found out my eye pressure was higher than normal in both eyes for the first time ever. I returned to the doctor a month later and the pressure was even higher. That’s when I was told I had glaucoma. I was given medications and ever since then I’ve never be able to get off them. Doctors believe contacts have no relation to glaucoma causes but I’m telling you the truth: I’ve never had glaucoma until I wore contacts for 3 days.
NBA FAN I’ve been wearing contacts for about 4 year now. I go to my regular doctor once a year and to a glaucoma specialist once a year(runs in the family and I’m a culprit- safety reasons). Everything has been fine since I started wearing contacts.. until this year. I got diagnosed with ocular hypertension. Contacts doesn’t have anything to do with my problem. Also, you could have had ocular hypertension and not have known until your optic nerve got damaged (which is glaucoma). You can’t tell your eye pressure is high or low. Unless, the eye pressure has caused damage to the eye. I hate to say but I don’t think wearing contacts for 3 days at specific times damaged your optic nerve. Just a coincidence. Since I have ocular hypertension, I use drops now. Which, is meant to lower the pressure to a normal rate. So, in theory is protects my optic nerve from any damage (glaucoma). Hope this helps I wear daily contacts still
I’ve just been watching your videos and to everyone that wants to try contact lenses it is really difficult in the beginning but over 4-5 days it becomes much much easier this guys videos really help
The problem is it’s the shape of the eye and not what’s going on with the eye. So that pill had to have some nano machines to change the shape of the eye
@@RocketboiC4 yeah but I think she's talking about a pill that not would change the shape of your eye, which obviously it could not do, she's talking about a pill that will work in other ways to improve your vision, you have to remember modern medicine works miracles and it literally saves people's life maybe it would be a pill that would relax the eyes and give you Clear Vision, just like the bates method does, and many people have found success in the bates method, people should look that up because it's not the fact that you're doing eye exercises, it's the fact that you're relaxing your eyes, so all we can do is remain hopeful, modern medicine and modern inventions can work wonders
The thing is, I have a dry eye syndrome, and I started and quit contacts more than two times over the past years because of that. So, doc, if you could recommend some special contacts which would even help in dry eye syndrome, it would be better for everyone here.

I tried contact and for me they are really comfortable, the issue that made me drop out of them is vision quality. I have a little bit of astigmatism on both eyes (-0.25 and -0.50) but contact does not correct them. So wearing contacts I still see a little bit blurry.
I would love to get contacts but they're too expensive for my family to afford every year for the next 5 years and I feel bad, whereas glasses you buy once and then use them for a long time 😔
I can totally understand... The feeling when you ask your parents for contacts and you see them worry about the cost is soo cruel!... As long as your power prescription is pretty low you can move on with glasses... But if they are pretty worse then you will have yo pay more for glasses than you do for contact lens... Idk about u guys but maybe you can ask your eye doctors for a 1 year contact lense? Mine is good for 1 year and it isn't that expensive compare to my glasses
Used contacts for the first time after 9 years of wearing glasses. 👓 I feel so good. My eyes doesn't fog up everytime I wear the mask or the spectacles fall down from my face. Ughh. I love it 💖
My prescription is -11.50 and my eye doctor recommended contacts. Wearing glasses is all I've ever known my entire life! I don't even know how I look without them 🤣 But she did say I will see even better, because my prescription is so high. I'm nervous but looking forward to it!
A few times contacts didn't seem to "correct" properly, but I was extremely tired those times and the glasses helped. Now after two years of back and forth, I prefer contacts 100% especially after finding the transition acuvues! I have always been sensitive to sun light and they solve it without ever having to worry about the half lens conversation I ran into too many times with transition glasses.
Lenses for sure! I have used lenses for like 2 months now and I think it’s much easier for me bc I use “1 use lenses” so I switch them every day. I don’t need to worry about getting dry or taking on the lense on the wrong eye bc I have the same “strength” on both lenses.
One issue with glasses that people rarely address is the fact that a straight line or edge (say you are staring at a doorframe that is ten feet away) will bend and bow when you move your head side to side and follow it with your eye. Perhaps that is the prism effect you mention in your video? Either way, it makes inspecting cabinetry or other woodwork a little tricky.
I’m one of those people with both astigmatism and high prescription for my age(we’re talking about -8.0 to -9.0) so I’m trying out contact lenses for the first time today. Fingers crossed they improve the quality of my vision and hopefully slow the progression of my prescription 🤞
Apparently it's perfectly normal to feel dizziness. I started my trial with the contacts and my doctor says its because you can now see all the details more than on glasses. Example when i looked at the floor, i could see all the details compared to my glasses.
I recently started wearing contacts, but I've been wearing glasses for 20yrs now. I feel like glasses fit my personality best. My look is never complete without them. They frame the eyes so nicely, and they are low maintenance too.
I've always had glasses and always will remain with glasses. I tried contacts for a month and hated the experience so much that I reverted back to glasses. I found that even after trying 3 different contact brands, my eyes still hurt after hours of having contacts in. Also, it took an incredibly long time for my right contact to adjust to my eye so I couldn't drive right away because my right side vision was super blurry with the contact in for the first 10 or 15 minutes. Secondly I never remembered to replace my contact solution or my case so I became super concerned of having eye ulcers. So overall glasses are WAY LESS maintenence and are overall better for me. But great video
Ify but my mom doesn't want me to have contact lenses because it's too dangerous, in my side I want some contacts because I want to play baskeball freely with clearer vision
@@robertmarkubana5959 that's what my parents thought but I earned my own money and got my own contacts. Honestly, as long as you follow the instructions on the do's and don'ts you'll be fine! However, if you're not too confident with your hygiene then don't get it. Esp monthlies, you really need to take care of your lens properly and do listen to your optometrist.
I definitely prefer contacts, I do love glasses too. But my vision is pretty negative, and I have an astigmatism, so I can get dizzy if I move my head too much with glasses, and I heavily rely on my peripheral vision, which basically becomes obsolete with glasses. I am also very sensitive to the sunlight, so sunglasses are an absolute must, and are much easier to deal with when wearing contacts. When I do wear glasses I prefer a larger lens to have "more to see" as I say.
I have astigmatism in one eye, made a glass for it and damn, couldn't use it for the life of me, since my right eye only has myopia, the diference in the prismatic effect made me see double in the peripheral areas. Since I'm used to using just myopia for both eyes and my astigmatism being ignored by my brain while i look with both eyes, i decided to continue using glasses just with myopia. I almost have keratoconus, and i would have to use hard lenses, so i decided to just use my glasses. If it get worse maybe I'll have to use contatc lenses, but untill then, glasses for me. It's funny cause if i look with just my left eye i see double, but using both eyes i kinda don't se double at all
Hello there. First of all I would like to thank you for the videos on contacts for beginners. I have been wearing glasses since I was in first grade so transitioning to contacts was scary. I have really high prescription in glasses to the point that I was told I would need progressive lenses at age 20. I'm 21 and all the eye doctors I have seen pushed those expensive glasses. So when I found a eye doctor that cares, I found out the I am able to wear contacts and she helped me transition. These videos have helped me learn so much about how to take care of them and what to do if anything goes south. I appreciate the help and would love to see more videos in contacts. I prefer my contacts over my glasses because I have the freedom to wear regular sun glasses. Due to a high prescription in glasses I have been unable to get prescription sunglasses. Thank you for your help. I appreciate it. Have a good day Dr.
I think I'm gonna use both! I love how glasses look- they allow you to express more of your personality, and I sorta just like how they look overall! The obvious reason for getting contacts would be for sports, but though, sure, I play Sports, it's not actually the main reason I want contacts. Cosplaying is great. Love it. Dunno why, but it's really fun. I don't care about what colour my eyes are and how different they may be from my cosplay character, but as you can probably assume, I have glasses. That's an issue. Most characters I cosplay don't have those! So as silly as it sounds, that is indeed my reasoning on why I'm going to use both. 😅
I use both, but I prefer contact lenses. I usually use glasses when my eyes are getting tired of wearing contact lenses or when I'm too lazy to put in my contact lenses. But yeah, contact lenses in my opinion are the best ;)
i got my contacts for the first time today, and let me just say I LOVE THEM SM. it’s sm more convenient to wear during work and school while wearing a mask, and i don’t have to feel like i’m carrying glasses on my face all day. it is gonna be a pain to maintain my contacts but i think it’s worth it
Definitely soft daily contacts for me…. I have the same high prescription in both eyes (-9.50) . Very much prefer contact lenses. It’s more comfortable and brings confidence. Plus it’s free with my insurance 👌🏽
Wore glasses for 3 years. From -0.25 and -0.75, for 3 years I hit -1.50 and -2 power... Then i switched to contacts and since then it's been another 3 years and the power of my eyes never changed. So yeah, I regret not trying contacts earlier. Not to mention they are super comfortable and easy to use.
Your channel has helped me so much because I have had alot of problems like distortions and headaches throughout my teenage years. Your channel helps me make better decisions. Definitely most comfortable with my lens now.
Love contact lenses. I've been wearing glasses for most of my life and i hate it. A couple of years ago i tried the daily ones and i loved them, and last year i bought the monthly ones, unfortunately due to the pandemic i can't afford them anymore
I just got an appointment yesterday for lenses and I’m so excited to wear them! I’m really looking forward to be able to sport and run without my glasses getting foggy or slipping off of my nose😂
Yesterday i put my first contacts in (after 8 years of wearing glasses) and tbh, it wasn't as good as wearing glasses but the comfort I got from not wearing anything on my face was amazing. Getting the lenses in and out was a total nightmare, tho. I fear what it is gonna be today but I guess there is a learning curve.
I was always told contacts wouldn't work for my lazy eye, I recently switched to them and love them, things are sharper and I can see really well. As a side note purely for vanity, not wearing glasses has helped with acne issues that I've had and really helped clear my face up.
I have strong myopia and astigmatism (-5.75, -2.5), and I have worn glasses since I was 4. In college I really wanted contacts, and my optometrist said my only option was hard plastic toric lenses. Every day I would suffer dry, itchy eyes, and I would almost always get a speck of dust stuck under them and need to take them out. I gave up after 2 years and have gone back to glasses ever since.
I wore glasses from the age of 5 to 17, and then contact from 17 to 19 (now). Honestly, if cost isn’t a problem (I pay around £10 per month for monthlies) then I’d say that the only thing that really matters is what you look better in. I am objectively ugly in glasses (my eyes made me look like Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys) but objectively good looking in contacts, and that difference was absolutely life changing for me. My prescription is around +11 for both, and I have small eyes, and yet contacts have never been a problem for me once I found the right pair, and the right opticians (It was impossible to get them into my eyes after hours of trying, until I found both of these things.)
I get kinda paranoid with contacts. I have to always bring my glasses with me in case I need to remove my contacts immediately or if they fall out for whatever reason.
💥 Which do you prefer? Glasses or contact lenses?
I prefer glasses, because i cant wear contacts
I've always wanted contact lenses but my mom won't allow me because she thinks it's dangerous loo
Contacts, I look too nerdy with glasses on. 🤓
I prefer contacts because my glasses fog up so much. I switch them out. I do see clearer with my glasses but contacts are so convenient.

Yes, contact lenses are an amazing option when you get to higher powers. 👍👍
Omg I thought it was only me! It honestly gets me down no matter how much I spend on thinning and expensive frames no difference
@@DoctorEyeHealth I am curious, what do you consider "higher powers" in plus and minus lenses?
I'm -10 in both eyes, never had a problem
Emma yeah
It's just soo nice to see that I'm not alone here suffering with high prescription glasses❤️made me feel soo better
What type of cleaning products/ dry eye drops do you find works best?
I have been using contact lenses from 2 day's. Though Initially it was difficult, I like the experience of wearing contact lenses. Other hand for me glasses are bit uncomfortable can't use while playing sports.Hecce contact lens are better choice for me
That's great!
When you run with contact, will it fall
Very true. I honestly need to get more flashy pairs of glasses to match with different outfits (more than just the classic black pairs)
Its crazy how much glasses can alter your appearance too
@@Parcily i can relate 🙂. I use glasses.
@@Parcily I remember how that feels, I think you should definitely give contacts a go :)
Can you please tell me what is your age
And from when do you have such high prescription

So for me, contacts win when I'm able to wear them! 🖤
glasses aren't supposed to be like that
I wore prescription glasses for 10 years without trying contact lenses.
I've switched to contacts a few months ago and don't regret it. I like how I look without glasses more and monthly contacts are the way to go for me

Are you using the dailies? They are a lot thinner and they might be easier on your eyes. My eyes are not tired after wearing them all day.

I love your videos so much, Doc.

What worked for you?

After I started wearing glasses, I noticed I started getting sick on amusement park and carnival rides. I figured it was just a combination of dehydration and getting older. I went to a fair after starting contacts a month ago and the difference on sickness was huge! I went back to not being sick at all and it was amazing!
What do you mean by getting sick? motion sick?
I wear contacts after shower for the whole day and then remove them at evening and then wear glasses till I sleep 🤓
Sounds like a great routine !
I shower in my contact lenses just very careful
At -7 and -6.5 I wear contacts generally; mainly due to that distortion you spoke of. I basically have to move my entire head to see because looking at different angles through my glasses just creates seasickness.
As work im often crawling around at heights of 20-150 feet walking on open air exposed structures and the glasses really get amplified at heights.
I dint inow my prescription but ik im really strong as im basically blind in my left eye and cant see wothout them in my right eye
Great info. I prefer glasses though I have never tried contacts, I can't stand things near my eye and struggle with even eye drops so I doubt I could do contacts.
Yup
😅 that's normal clwade 13 every day I train at least 3 persons for contact...its a normal reaction when something is moving towards our eye we tend to close our eyes...so at the beginning the first trys its really a struggle but as we keep practicing we learn to control our need to close our eye and blink during the process of putting in or removing contact lenses...
You probably could get used to it, but you are not alone. that reflex is tough.
Hope this helps
I wear daily contacts still
I’ve just been watching your videos and to everyone that wants to try contact lenses it is really difficult in the beginning but over 4-5 days it becomes much much easier this guys videos really help
I hope in the future they created a pill or something to permanently fix your eyesight vision without having to wear glasses or contacts.

Today's a first time I use contact lenses, and it felt really good. Glasses were starting to be a liability when taking photos or something.

What's your power of contacts as compared to glasses??

It's funny cause if i look with just my left eye i see double, but using both eyes i kinda don't se double at all
I got my first pair of contacts at age 12 and I’ve never turned back! I love contacts because of high prescription!

Hi
Question: Is colored contacts healthy for the eyes. 😁😊
Yeah , If the manufacturer is well reputed
I have keratokonus and I’m really happy to have the opportunity to see as good as healthy eye‘s with hard contact lenses.
