I own Nike and will answer the question, 'Why isn't Nike considered a premium company?' The answer is: because they decided long ago not to position themselves as that type of company. Nike could sell sneakers priced over $500, and people would rush to buy them. However, doing so would damage the overall perception people have of Nike. (look adidas kanye) Nike invests heavily in sponsorships, and its sneakers don’t have a high gross margin compared to other similar brands. This is intentional. The company spends significant amounts on athletes to create the perception that Nike offers the best products-gear that professional athletes choose to perform in. While this is true, Nike doesn’t want its products to be expensive, because Nike is a people’s brand. The appeal of Nike lies in its affordability. The brand is still respected because people in various communities, including those in the hood, buy fresh kicks to impress others. Having luxury margins would be detrimental to the brand. So, while not being a premium brand is a strategic choice, it certainly serves a purpose.
With respect, you might be confusing a premium company with a premium brand. I believe Nike is a premium company from the perspective of financials in combination with market positioning. From how I see it, premium brands are Ferrari and LV for instance, where as premium companies are Toyota and Nike. This is how I see it.
One concern I have with investment categories like apparel and cosmetics is the impact of social media. It’s so hard to gain market share with the fragmentation of these markets. While you once had a few dominant players, there are literally hundreds of brands these days, and the average consumer is even more fickle. Are there any good case studies for how legacy brands manage this issue? Is it just old fashioned acquisition of competitors?
Nike will be just fine. Price might go up or down, who knows. At this price I’m a buyer. Will rocket soon. All these other brands won’t even be around in 10 years. Mark my words
While it won't be a big bump, Nike needs to market Caitlyn Clark like crazy. She might be the biggest basketball draw in the world, men's game included. And now she also does some pro-am golf. 2-for-1 athlete marketing. But China's coastal big cities, and Beijing, are crashing hard. People can get fake Nike's anywhere over there. Also, with the gov't pushing jingoism, local brands benefit.
All time highs being at the hight of the pandemic where sales were forced to go online where higher margins exist and stimulus checks fueled cyclical spending I think created a false ceiling on Nike. Also Paul do you really view a corporate strategy of raising prices to boost margins as good business sense in a recession on an entirely discretionary product?
Resellers pumped the sales up during the pandemic. They're down and that's one of the reasons why we're seeing sales normalize. On Cloud, Adidas, Crocs, Veja and other sneaker brands are also cutting in to the share of wallet. Heritage Nike models such as the AF1, Air Maxes and jordans are not very comfortable in comparison, while consumers have also pivoted to comfort.
Accurate asset allocation is crucial, and some individuals use hedging strategies or allocate part of their portf0li0 to defensive assets for market downturns. Too many influencers selling workout gear that has better design to think Nike is going anywhere but down. Their shoes look like total shit and colors are horrible. Girls want lulu lemon not nike
This is similar to the Disney Trade this channel promoted in that the channel isn’t taking into account the culture of wokism and how the country is moving away from that type of culture. Nike is hugely dependent on having big name athletes endorse and represent the brand, but considering how athletes couldn’t sway the election, I would guess that the culture of the U.S., particularly in young people, will move away from idol worship. Particularly as it pertains to these woke athletes. Woke equals broke. I wouldn’t touch Nike.

@ single digit revenue growth, too low
In my opinion the software isn't worth it!
There are far better companies that return cash 2-3x faster than Nike (16 years)
Good stuff - GC
Take a look at BCE, hit and 11 year low recently and pays a 10% dividend.
Thanks we will try to give it a look .AP
WTF are you nuts.
Traveling in Japan saw the most popular shoes onitsuka tiger. Every store is crazy packed hard to get your sizes while Nike store barely had customers. I have never seen craze for any brand like this.
OT is selling very cheap in Japan that’s why!
I like that brand....and I have a pair.... didn't know they are big in Japan 😅

I think NKE may drop to 60, more competition from Anta, movement in China to boycott western brands, upcoming tariffs.

NKE and PACB 💥💥💥
On men’s need to go away and resolve China to get Nike back
Buy sketchers, dear . Nike is not a comfortable shoes any more
Good stuff - GC
prove that you really bought it. words are just words. you said the same thing about INTEL when it was $40
Exactly
And ohhh He was wrong
On Intel
And he’s wrong on NKE
Thanks for leaving a comment .AP
@@LeviLesinProductionswhat makes you think he was wrong on intel? If you think Paul analyzed intel trying to predict where it would go in the short term, you are a fool.
Could you do U-Haul please?
Thanks for the suggestion - GC
Wow but nah.
I think Nike is in the ‘has been’ category. They tried to turn into an internet company and gave up on store sales opening the door for competitors. So now Asics, Adidas, and On are the fastest-growing sneaker brands, according to a new report from Detroit-based culture marketplace StockX. You might be right, or you might be catching a falling knife.
Bro people have been saying that about nike for 40 years. Yet they are the one still standing and 100s of brands did come and go. There are thousands of energy drinks out there, but people still drink redbull and monster. There are thousands of soda brands but majority still drink coca cola.
It is what it is.
Nike gone woke. Go woke go broke
Thanks for sharing .AP
Too many influencers selling workout gear that has better design to think Nike is going anywhere but down. Their shoes look like total shit and colors are horrible. Girls want lulu lemon not nike
They whiffed their retail decision. Gave up space to Hoka and ON.
Nike isn’t going anywhere $bullish
Good comment - GC
hoks is better than nike
Nice one -GC
NKE ❤
Nike going up. They hired the wrong CEO. Now they fixed that. It’s going up
Nike is dying
I knew a girl named Nike, she called herself Nicky.
Nice one -GC
This is similar to the Disney Trade this channel promoted in that the channel isn’t taking into account the culture of wokism and how the country is moving away from that type of culture. Nike is hugely dependent on having big name athletes endorse and represent the brand, but considering how athletes couldn’t sway the election, I would guess that the culture of the U.S., particularly in young people, will move away from idol worship. Particularly as it pertains to these woke athletes.
Woke equals broke. I wouldn’t touch Nike.
If the country is moving away from that then companies will to .AP
When money is tight people are NOT buying nike.
Good stuff - GC
I see broke people wearing new Nike all the time. 😂 Not all people are smart with their money like you.
Get Moe to talk about TDW the next time he's on. Dropped a lot more since the last time he mentioned it.
We did a big exclusive video on it inside our community. Around a 15 minute video. - Timo
@@EverythingMoney Good to know, thanks Timo!
ONON BETTER STOCK
Paul , you are completely blindfolded to the significant risk of Trump Tarrifs on Nike which will inadvertently rise it’s production cost
Good plan, follow jeremy-
Thanks for following us -😅 GC

Anything woke turns to shit. Nike isn't coming back
Nike is priced as a high growth company. It’s not.

What about nike making all their shoes in China? That's why I'm afraid to buy whit trump coming into office
Hoka and on is killing Nike. Nike become your grandma shores
They make take some of the profit but not to actually kill it .Its just the New hype .AP
Hokas suck. They are not as comfortable
Amazing video, A friend of mine referred me to a financial adviser sometime ago and we got to talking about investment and money. I started investing below the $100k mark and in the first 2 months, my portfolio was reading $234,800. Crazy right!, I decided to reinvest a huge percentage of my profit and it got more interesting.! For over a year we have been working together making consistent profit just bought my second home at the beginning of summer.
Nike shoes are trash now.
