I feel like other hosts tend to rely on the humor of being scared of animal guests but Conan just has a natural charisma and humor and actually interacts with them
Conan is the only late night host that isn't pissing himself afraid of the animals. He gets in there. He lets the expert talk. He actually interacts with the animal.

That coyote pup was scared. If you look at its one paw you can see how much it's shaking. This was an animal they should've told the audience to remain quiet for. It was in a strange environment that had loud volume. I know this is a comedy show, but they really need to be more sympathetic to the animal.

I’ve worked as a veterinary technician for about 13 years now, I want to say about 10 years ago at my old very large specialty hospital we treated one of Conan’s dogs. His dog was fine in the end but he did need a procedure and Conan was there every step of the way, usually it will be assistants that deal with celebrity pets. He was a class act all the way, super personable and I remember gave tickets to a show/behind the scenes to the specific doctor/department that helped his pet. What stood out to me is that I happened to be in reception when his dog was discharged and he thanked all of us and even made a hilarious joke at his dogs expense (don’t want to say the joke because it directly references the procedure the dog had and I still feel like that’s patient confidentiality). But anyway, my point is that you can tell his animal love in these clips is real and if you can ever get an insight into someone’s heart it’s through their kindness to animals. Love you Conan ❤

I like how the only time Conan wasn't happy with an animal was with the cobra, which the dude admitted was venomous enough to kill an elephant, and then proceeded to _introduce_ it to the audience- You could hear the unfiltered fear and concern in his voice, mans was not having it- >_>

They get desensitized backstage. Animal ambassadors are also chosen based on their temperament. So easily startled and scared animals don’t come on shows.
I stopped watching his show 5 years into the run. You could tell he was starting to dislike the late night game around that time (and the Trump bashing, which plagued all night shows, began). Conan cut off a day from his show per a week, took extended vacations and then cut the episodes runtimes in half… and TBS wasn’t making any good programs to help the numbers, so it was probably a network issue.
Those bear cubs and that coyote were so precious! 😊 I can't believe they let that snake get so out of control before finally putting it away though. That could have gone so badly.
@@JHazard1000defanging is actually super dangerous for the snake. They dont stop making venom, its some that they have to make in order to eat. Instead it just causes them to lose control of their venom control entirely and it is horrifying what it can do to their faces. That snake was clearly extremely well socialized and even when it was close for comfort it was only displaying curiosity not aggression. You still need to be careful of course but if anything he probably was just interested in the warm stage lights

Conan is one of the reasons I wish I could go back in time and do it over again - the same way. Just so seeing his show was new and hysterical again. Actually, it is still fresh and hysterical now!
As a LONG-TIME worker of my father's now retired Veterinary Clinic, I've nothing BUT Love and Passion for animals of all kinds, so seeing Conan naturally connecting with these lovely babies makes me feel 🔥👌💯😍❤️🔥
Those are the gular glands, also referred to as musk glands. We're not really sure what they're for, but various crocodilians have been shown to respond to the secretions they produce. Some people think it's for hunting, others think it's for warning other crocodilians of danger or even for mating They tend to display them when being handled or when they're pissed off.

Both of them own and work with venomous snakes and they would have never had Conan do something like shaking a doll head around nor would they have had that snake near the audience like that. In fact when Chandler shows his king cobra on tours he has the snake enclosed in a room with just him while he holds it up to a plexiglass window for people to see. I don't know where this guy got the idea that the stuff he did would be ok.
