So glad her parole was denied. 30 years ago it was a LIFE SENTENCE, then the Courts or whatever changed the rules/intention. If she truly felt the pain she caused, if she was truly remorseful for murdering her children, she would never want to get out of prison. She'd want to stay there because she'd know that's what she deserves. I was a young mother with a son the same age as one of Susan's sons. I don't know how to articulate it but this crime captured the nation and it was heartbreaking. We all felt it. I'm getting choked up now just thinking about it all these years later. No parole should ever be granted this woman.

However the 'motivation' for killing her children was a rich man she had an affair with who didn't want children and he was ending the affair because of that shortly before the murders. Personally I do think there are women murdering their children in a state of pschosis because of post partum depression however I don't know of a case where the woman immidiatley afterwards tries to cover her crime by lying, inventing a fictional suspect and stand in front of a bunch of cameras and speak to the nation begging to find her children.

Agreed Judy. I’m 55, I’m a native Oregonian…. The Diane Downs case was HUGE when I was a kid. HUGE….so I’ve followed it very closely through out the years. Diane Downs has been officially diagnosed with with narcissistic, histrionic, and antisocial personality disorders, and one Dr also formally labelling her as a "deviant sociopath” … that and with her escape attempt in 1987 also, mixed with her very serious mental issues… I doubt she will ever see the light of day behind bars. Thank God! Diane has zero respect for human life and zero respect for normal laws that we all must abide by. At least she can no longer have more children. That ship sailed many years ago, thank heavens! There is a really good documentary about her youngest daughter, whom was adopted out. It’s so good! Check it out if you’re interested in her case ❤️💕🙏🏼

My daughter was murdered at 25 in 2017. He gets out in 2033. I don't even understand how these people even get a 2nd chance. I'm so happy she wasn't released! David Smith is the shell of a man he once was. We all remember when SS lied on the news followed by David’s devastation at the funeral. I saw his strength as he went to court. It looked like he might survive this horrific tragedy. Now 30 yrs on, he’s the picture of what grief does to a person, mind body & soul. I’m so sorry for your loss sir💔

My youngest daughter is the same age as Alex would have been-31 To imagine her never having lived those years would break my heart. I feel so deeply for their dad David.
What Smith did is unimaginable, it's downright evil, to watch her children scream out for her and just stand by and watch them drown, she needs to stay in there forever.
I cried listening to David and his family speaking about Michael and Alex and I was so relieved when they denied her parole. I lost my 22 year old son in 2016 and I can agree with David that time will never heal the wounds from the loss of a child, when he said it could be any date or year that can be harder than others I could relate to that so much. I will be doing okay one day and the next the pain just hits all over again and I think to myself that I will never see my son again I’ll never get to hug him or talk to him that he’s gone forever and that pain hits hard. David didn’t lose just one child he lost both of his children and the grief he’s feeling is unimaginable, the loss of my son destroyed me I couldn’t imagine losing my daughter too. My heart breaks for him and I hope Susan never gets released, she should spend the rest of her life in prison.

When I was little this case was actually quite massive. I remember it had a huge impact on my mom, and how many women suffer from something called post partum depression, and can be severe. She was interested in psychology at the time. I will never forget the image in my head of 2 children being tied into the car and the person they rely on for everything, warmth, food, love, the person they most trust, Mom, leaving the car to roll into the water. It was the first time I considered my own death, and crying to my mom realizing as a 5 year old that someday I am going to die. I am sorry folks, this was such a poignant time in my life, and thinking about it now for the first time in 30 years is giving me the feels.

This happened in my State, and it shocked everyone here and then became viral everywhere. It is horrific what she did, and she would never fit in society again, and she knew what she was doing when she killed her 2 boys. Would society be safe with her out of jail? (think about that). My sympathies go out to David Smith in having to live with her actions. Condolences to those that this murder affected.
The thing I noticed is the pain he has and is carrying is far different than hers. The prison he's in is far worst than the one she is in. You can see it on his face in the way he carries himself that he has truely suffered and he will for the rest of his life, freedom is something he 17:05 will never truely have. hers seems to be the lack of freedom for herself.

David Smith is the shell of a man he once was. We all remember when SS lied on the news followed by David’s devastation at the funeral. I saw his strength as he went to court. It looked like he might survive this horrific tragedy. Now 30 yrs on, he’s the picture of what grief does to a person, mind body & soul. I’m so sorry for your loss sir💔
Our hearts broke with Davids that horrific day, and I believe when he says " Susan only thinks of Susan". So glad she was denied parole and hopefully she will always be denied. Justice for Alex and Michael Smith 💔❤️💔

I cried listening to David and his family speaking about Michael and Alex and I was so relieved when they denied her parole. I lost my 22 year old son in 2016 and I can agree with David that time will never heal the wounds from the loss of a child, when he said it could be any date or year that can be harder than others I could relate to that so much. I will be doing okay one day and the next the pain just hits all over again and I think to myself that I will never see my son again I’ll never get to hug him or talk to him that he’s gone forever and that pain hits hard. David didn’t lose just one child he lost both of his children and the grief he’s feeling is unimaginable, the loss of my son destroyed me I couldn’t imagine losing my daughter too. My heart breaks for him and I hope Susan never gets released, she should spend the rest of her life in prison.

When I was little this case was actually quite massive. I remember it had a huge impact on my mom, and how many women suffer from something called post partum depression, and can be severe. She was interested in psychology at the time. I will never forget the image in my head of 2 children being tied into the car and the person they rely on for everything, warmth, food, love, the person they most trust, Mom, leaving the car to roll into the water. It was the first time I considered my own death, and crying to my mom realizing as a 5 year old that someday I am going to die. I am sorry folks, this was such a poignant time in my life, and thinking about it now for the first time in 30 years is giving me the feels.
This wasn’t her case though! She wanted to impress her new rich boyfriend who said he couldn’t be with her because she had two children and he didn’t want children! You obviously haven’t done your research on this story

This happened in my State, and it shocked everyone here and then became viral everywhere. It is horrific what she did, and she would never fit in society again, and she knew what she was doing when she killed her 2 boys. Would society be safe with her out of jail? (think about that). My sympathies go out to David Smith in having to live with her actions. Condolences to those that this murder affected.
What if by chance two black men had been around the area at the time and been convicted? Even accused they’d need lawyers and go through trial.
The thing I noticed is the pain he has and is carrying is far different than hers. The prison he's in is far worst than the one she is in. You can see it on his face in the way he carries himself that he has truely suffered and he will for the rest of his life, freedom is something he 17:05 will never truely have. hers seems to be the lack of freedom for herself.

I saw photos of Michael and Alex after they were taken out of John D.Long lake. If the parole board could see those photos and what hanging upside down in the lake for 9 days did to those two precious babies they would NEVER/EVER grant Susan Smith parole. NEVER
