      I agree 100%. Bernardo's not going anywhere, they have a process that they must follow by law, it doesn't mean he's getting out. But I am all for victim impact statements face to face...if the victims are okay with that, of course. The more the parole board hears how horrendous his crimes are, the more they will have no problems denying him every single time.

    I remember how i was afraid to visit friends in Scarborough while Bernardo was active, then the horror of what happened to these lovely spirits. I hear that jury members have received therapy, but what about the government clerks that were exposed to this? I have a friend who has never been the same!!!

      A Buddy of mine was interviewed by police in Scarborough when Bernardo/Homolka were active. He sort of fit the description / Drawing so he got pulled in. Very scary times...

    The parole board was wrong to deny the victims family to make impact statement at Paul Bernardo parole hearing. If mankind is lucky, the parole board will not be able to keep Bernardo safe during the hearing. He is the reason that capital punishment should be reinstated.

      He will be. He has been designated a dangerous offender, which in Canada, means life. The parole board is a process that everyone goes through, doesn't mean they get let out. They have to follow the laws on all sides, not just the ones we like. Everyone is supposed to be entitled to due process, I know it sucks but life works that way.
      Would you rather they deny him his rights, and he gets out that way?

    Bernardo receives life imprisonment which is a just sentence. Meanwhile his ex-wife/partner who is equally culpable is out of jail, has children, a husband because the police messed up the investigation, not imagining that a woman was capable of such heinous acts. Don't compound one very bad mistake with another by letting him out.

    No matter what is done there will be no justice because Karla Homolka was the main perpetrator but cut a sweet deal for herself before the Crown could review the evidence. Not saying Bernardo deserves less punishment but now known as Leanne Bordelais she walks free.

      This is the real travesty, I agree. The fact she did what she did, lied, and still got that "deal", makes me sick. There will never be true justice, not even for her own family thanks to that insane, and wrong, deal.
      Their house was right behind my parent's house in Port Dalhousie, they lived there when all these horrific crimes were happening, it's surreal. I used to live in Agincourt, back then, I was a young girl and would hitch hike all over Toronto. Didn't pay much attention to the news back then, I consider myself very lucky that I never met up with a Paul Bernardo. Or a Karla Homolka.

      I lived in Kingston ont for 30 years as a hairdresser and I have stories about Karla and all her shenanigans while she was imprisoned at the women's facility, courtesy of my prison guard customers. This is just sickening

    The Parole Board members should be fired for taking the rights away from the victims families to be able to read their victim impact statements. In fact he should never ever be up for Parole. But it seems the Parole Board members are doing things behind everybody backs, like moving him to minimum security prison without informing anyone. Just like Tori Stafford by moving the woman who was in on Tori’s murder out of prison to a healing lodge in Manitoba, I believe. Oh something has to be done drastically to stop this insanity

    Sounds like the parole board was considering granting Bernardo parole, but wanted to do it on the down-low! That's how stupid these boards are. And I hope both families pass-on to that board, the cost of retaining a lawyer to just support their constitutional rights.     I lived in St. Catharines. This was a horrible act of violence Residents still are horrified about Bernardo & Holmoka. It still haunts the city residents. The City of St. Catharines bought the house in December 1995, and tore it down.
    I can't fathom the horror and suffering that the French & Mahaffy families have gone through over decades of grief and reminders that Bernardo is still alive & their children aren't,. Every parole hearing they have to live with this heinous vile crime. The same with the community around Holy Cross Catholic High School.
    He should never be released. He should be in a Maximum Security prison.
    The families should be present at the parole hearing. Doug French, Kirsten's father, passed away in April 2024 at the age of 92.

    It's bad enough that they moved him to minimum security.They also moved him to another province and they moved him closer to his ex wife , who clearly was involved as a willing participant enough is enough let the families speak

    Paul Bernardo killed two kids and I don't want him released...Capital punishment is warranted...
