a really big tip that i recommend for the reassembling part is to do the bigger keys first before the smaller ones. So for example you should attach the space bar, backspace, left and right shift keys, capslock before doing numbered keys and letter keys.

Can someone shine a light on me and tell me there is a way to recover it? Pls, I need help.
Even if you swiffer parts of it daily and use compressed air... they all seem to eventually get like this if you have pets. Great video, most people need to be aware of this to keep their keyboards lasting as long as possible.
To remove any lose debris underneath the key caps.. you can also use a hair dryer on the cold setting, on a low airflow setting. Works a charm! Just lay it on the floor first.. then hoover up when done!
I really enjoyed how clear and quick the video was. By keeping it at 5 minutes, you made it much easier to follow and rewatch! With a new keyboard, I'd give my old one to my brother. He's almost 10 years old, and I think it would be an amazing late birthday present :)

For anyone now watching this - do not use the type of keycap puller shown in the video. Use a wire keycap puller to ensure you do not damage your switches or keycaps, especially if you plan on doing this often
One additional thing I recommend is when the caps are off you hold your keyboard upside down and make sure there is an area underneath where you can wipe the dirt away, when holding your keyboard upside down you tap on its backside and dirt may come out.
Quick tip: Don’t use isopropyl alcohol instead of the water/soap Technique. The dust and Grime will basically just clump together as a layer and still be on the keys
Just a small tip. You can use hot water and even boiling water, the plastic used to make keyboard keycaps (ABS or PBT) melts on 200°C+ so you're safe. It will get rid of the grease and dirt much quicker and better. I did it myself and the results were great.. As for cleaning the keyboard itself, water is sufficent in most cases, but if you spilled a sugary drink or beer on it (like I did) you'll have to use alcohol to clean it. I have a Corsair K95 with PBT caps and I spilled beer all over it. I thought I'll have to throw it away because almost every key was sticky and would either get stuck when I pressed it or would be hard to press because it was already stuck..
I spilled caffee on my hyperx alloy fps bro and it stops working sometimes, like it breaks connection.... I dont know if its dead, should i buy new keyboard or what

compressed air for the drying and cleaning of the board definitely speeds up the process, and using an alcohol to clean the board is much safer than water since it would evaporate much faster and not run as much of a risk of a short when you power it back on.
You can buy a small manual dust blower to just blow through the keyborad every once in a while. Affordable and lasts forever. Just place the tip between the keys and give it a powerful squeze

I forgot to take a picture of my keyboard before taking off all the caps. So when i was done cleaning the keyboard I just re-arranged all the letter caps to my likings, or at least often used.😁
"As you can see, after 2-3 minutes with a Q-tip, it's essentially brand new!" Day 51. I have just finished cleaning the numpad area. The keycaps have been soaking for days, calling out for help as they writhe in the soapy water. The main area of the keyboard haunts me. Dust and debris stuck to the board, seemingly glued on. Pain and suffering is the only thing I know. How long will things last, how many Q-tips will be abused in my hands. I can't see the end of the path.
So, (hypothetical of course) what if we are too lazy to take off all the keys, and just wanted to get the grease off it with the keys still on? What would be the best way to do that?
4:51 Alcohol is safer. It doesn't conduct electricity so there's no risk of short-circuitting your switches, it vaporizes faster and grease is more solluble in alcohol.
As a touch typer, I don't need to take a picture, because I have been typing for 10 years with my old keyboard and thats why I always memorize the whole layout. Ps. I use Dvorak layout.

Me: *removes all key caps then takes a photo*
😂😂😂
I forgot to take a picture of my keyboard before taking off all the caps. So when i was done cleaning the keyboard I just re-arranged all the letter caps to my likings, or at least often used.😁
Haha! Did it work?
"As you can see, after 2-3 minutes with a Q-tip, it's essentially brand new!"
Day 51.
😂
Helpful asf ty bro
Instructions were unclear and unfortunately my cat after spending 15 minutes inside warm water died! RIP Howard
There is a lot of hair in my keyboard.
But I don't have no cats.
All of it is my hair. 😐
dont worry i realized i have so much hair there too it probably could make a bald many very hairy and its all my hair
Exact same problem lmao
just go bald
same
probably you are malding bro
0:26 is the time of showing his keyboard wow his keyboard has large paws and a mouth 😂😂
So, (hypothetical of course) what if we are too lazy to take off all the keys, and just wanted to get the grease off it with the keys still on? What would be the best way to do that?
a quick wipe with a wet towel
I use glass cleaner or wipe over it with a towel and a mix of water and all purpose cleaner when I'm dusting anyways. Gets rid of germs and grease.
3:35 yea its so clean that letters disappeared too lol
very useful tips and also the camera was smooth and sound so good it was so relaxing to watch this ♥ keep going
Love the informative style! The intro seems a bit too long though, given the length of the video... Maybe consider trimming it down?
I prefer the "Turn it upside down and give it a smack" method
Desi tip xd

I used my keybord for almost 3 years without cleaning it once
3 days and cleaned it 5 times
@@noalfps wtffffffff i need you to clean my keyboard lmao
@@A_ldo.. lmaooooo
You can probably ask your cat to clean it 😂
4:51 Alcohol is safer. It doesn't conduct electricity so there's no risk of short-circuitting your switches, it vaporizes faster and grease is more solluble in alcohol.
Im sorry but, did I hear him say “ The last time I cleaned my keyboard was 4 years ago “
I clean it every 4 hours
@@pulse5215 mate thats overkill
@@crackerz3935 eh maybe

As a touch typer, I don't need to take a picture, because I have been typing for 10 years with my old keyboard and thats why I always memorize the whole layout.
Ps. I use Dvorak layout.
life saver. Thanks for this video. If you hadn’t created this video I would have cried with my sticky, musty, greasy keyboard
I actually needed this
"Melt the plastic" haha, no. You would need over 180 degrees for that.
But heat lower than that can chemically change the plastic. Plastic releases toxins.
Some melt at like 100 degree water
Most plastic for keyboards melt at 150
hot water from a sink can definitely get that hot
@@rymaxrules6416 Yeah, depending on the sink. It was wise of him to include that in the video for the people who DO have a sink that can get that hot.
POV: You dont have a mechanical keyboard but you found this video interesting
no cat allowed in my house for that reason alone.
I highly recommend taking it when you swim it cleans it very nicely and no hassle, I use this and then throw it in the dryer
This helped me clean my unicorn keyboard, a gen1 K95 with MX reds, it's like new again! Thanks!
