I think Apple Music has the better design. It’s just cleaner. The higher audio quality is nice, but Spotify has a better algorithm. I don’t really listen to playlists, I prefer albums, so for me Apple Music is better.
SongShift app made it super easy to move my Spotify playlists to Apple Music. I still use Spotify but it’s seamless and you don’t have to do much work.
apple music has a good version of spotify wrapped now and actually i think it’s better than spotifys now because you can track your top 5 songs artist and album (and how many min for each and total min listening) for each month of each year also including a full year overview one and it’s in one place so it’s easy to go back and see specific months or years
Once I went lossless I couldn’t go back. Quality difference is night and day. Wrapped is amazing but that’s once a year, lossless audio I get to enjoy every day with Apple Music.
As a recent switcher who was skeptical of lossless, it’s been amazing how different they are. There are certain sounds and/or soundscapes I’ve never heard before in some of my favorite songs. And using my AirPods Pro 2 anything Dolby mastered is simply amazing

Unfortunately, you can't get lossless audio on Bluetooth headphones if you have a iphone or ipad. If you have a DAC and a wired connection then yes you can take advantage of lossless audio. Android devices come really close to lossless however. All high-end american android phones support LDAC, which is a Sony audio codec that can stream up to 990 kbps, lossless audio streams, anything above 1,411 kbps.
i feel like it depends on preference, if convenience is your main objective: spotify. if audio quality and more immersive experience: apple music. i’m not showing bias but after switching to apple music, it revitalised the way i experience music.
I like having music and podcasts in the same app. I know some people see that as a bug, but for me it’s a feature. Also Spotify premium now gives you a lot of audio books included in the price which I like.

For me and others in my country Spotify is not just for listening its like a archive to show off your taste in art with people making unique playlists with unique names and song inside to share with friends or there crush so if spotify capture more on that it will ultimately be more successful than anyother audio platform and probably turn profitable

But it sure is much less compressed and sounds better in a good quality automotive speakers or wired headphones, although most people would not even appreciate or notice the difference.

Spotify has the friends mix feature where you take any of your friends that use Spotify and it’ll make a playlist out of what both of you listen to, that’s my reason for staying with them really.
RUclips Premium is the clear winner. Gives you all RUclips music and no ads on RUclips. Not to mention while listening to a song you can toggle to the music video right in the middle of the song.
I moved to Apple Music due to the price difference, my love for Apple products in general, airplay with Sonos and lossless audio. I was pleasantly surprised with the karaoke features especially being able to turn down the singers vocals when you want to sing along. I thought switching would be hard but found a free app that transferred my Spotify playlists really easily. I like the Apple ecosystem and am happy to be apart of the fan base.
I was a pretty early adopter of Spotify, but Apple Music has won me over. As a nerd with a bunch of wired headphones and a few amps, CD quality streaming is great. I also really like the way apple handles DJ mixes if you’re into that kind of thing.

I'm a Spotify user just because of my girlfriend. Spotify has a convenient duo plan that Apple Music does not have in the Czech Republic. I prefer Apple Music but gf is such a stubborn Spotify user that it will take a lot of effort to convince her. (if Apple Music would have Duo Plan in the future or it will be more conveniently for both)

Apple only has preset options for EQ and it’s always so quiet.
No lie the only thing that stops me from wanting to switch is how the first thing you see when you open your library in Apple Music is your recently added and that it cant be changed. I want to open to my recently played or my playlists. I don't think I've ever browsed my recently added music. I know its just one button press but these are the things that make an app go from intuitive to frustrating to use. Wish apple would make this customisable, after all the rest of the library page already is

I've been a Spotify subscriber for years.. probably since its release, and I finally abandoned it for Apple music because of the 2024 Spotify Wrapped. I thought it was garbage and I really don't like the way the app works anymore. I don't get new song recommendations at all. After only 2 days of Apple Music, I've discovered 3 musicians that I've never heard of and I'm already hooked. Also the quality is night and day!!! I wish I would have switched sooner.
I use both on great audio equipment. Lossless doesn't make any difference. However, Apple Music is better suited for those who really enjoy organizing their music library. iTunes for Mac lets you create smart playlists and see which playlist a song is in or if that song is out of a playlist, i.e. lost in your entire music library. Only Apple Music has that. So, if you only care about practicality and superficial use of music streaming, Spotify, YT Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, etc., are more than enough to keep you entertained.
Lossless Audio on a smartphone without external DAC and proper headphones is irrelevant, as you will not notice the difference. What is much more important than the file format is appropriate mastering. This starts with the choice of the original master from the studio and ends with the mastering tuned for the streaming platform.
I know this is weird, but the one feature that makes it hard for me to switch off. Spotify is being able to play through Chromecast since I use it for my Sonos and I use it for my computer when I’m gaming. I know Apple Music has AirPlay, but it’s not quite the same you know?
Spotify has been BUGGING for me in recent years. Queuing doesn't work about 20% of the time. sometimes I can't play anything even when I have service/wifi AND the music is DOWNLOADED. That one is absolutely unacceptable. But at this point I have waaaay to many things saved in playlist to make switching to anything else a viable option. It would take me years to amass the same amazing music on any other platform like I currently have on Spotify.

For me, I've always used Spotify, my playlist is over 110 hours, I don't want to change platforms just for the price, and time to shift each song
There are a ton of utilities to move playlists so thats really not a problem.
Tunemymusic helps switch playlists between platforms 🤷♂️

I am a Spotify user I like it, but I do love lossless audio, and with AirPods and the whole Apple ecosystem. It’s a no-brainer to go with Apple Music.

After only 2 days of Apple Music, I've discovered 3 musicians that I've never heard of and I'm already hooked. Also the quality is night and day!!! I wish I would have switched sooner.
I like Spotify most of the time because of its ease of use, versatility, and hey, you get concert presale codes and exclusive merchandise!

i personally like these neiche platforms called "CD-Player" and "MP3-Player" the most
I use both on great audio equipment. Lossless doesn't make any difference. However, Apple Music is better suited for those who really enjoy organizing their music library. iTunes for Mac lets you create smart playlists and see which playlist a song is in or if that song is out of a playlist, i.e. lost in your entire music library. Only Apple Music has that. So, if you only care about practicality and superficial use of music streaming, Spotify, YT Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, etc., are more than enough to keep you entertained.

Lossless Audio on a smartphone without external DAC and proper headphones is irrelevant, as you will not notice the difference. What is much more important than the file format is appropriate mastering. This starts with the choice of the original master from the studio and ends with the mastering tuned for the streaming platform.
I know this is weird, but the one feature that makes it hard for me to switch off. Spotify is being able to play through Chromecast since I use it for my Sonos and I use it for my computer when I’m gaming. I know Apple Music has AirPlay, but it’s not quite the same you know?
Spotify has been BUGGING for me in recent years. Queuing doesn't work about 20% of the time. sometimes I can't play anything even when I have service/wifi AND the music is DOWNLOADED. That one is absolutely unacceptable. But at this point I have waaaay to many things saved in playlist to make switching to anything else a viable option. It would take me years to amass the same amazing music on any other platform like I currently have on Spotify.
