Damn right it does! It’s infuriating that for all the innocent Ukrainian civilians murdered and the war crimes committed with impunity, that it should be considered ridiculous that Ukraine attack Russia on Russian turf. I respect that Ukraine and Zelensky are representing the clear moral alternative to Putin’s unprovoked atrocities, but damn man, I don’t think Russians are going to truly have outrage or anything close to adequate fear if they aren’t wondering if a bomb might land on their home at night. I understand the west is worried about Ukraine becoming like their enemy but if the average Russian doesn’t feel like a missile could hit them at any moment, I’m not convinced they will have any real reason to make Putin accountable for his actions or that they will have the motivation required to pressure Putin to end this terrible war.

People typically also don't want to live in the shadow of those gigantic wind turbines. They are everywhere these days, though. If if you have a nuclear power plant, you can't even see it from a quick walking distance away, and it's just a single, limited location. They remain in operation for decades, producing no uncontrollable pollution, unless you are like the Japanese and neglect all maintenance to save a few yens.

Though this channel is called interesting engineering, it missed the most interesting parts of engineering about the Taurus.
One difference between the Taurus and Storm Shadow/SCALP is that Taurus uses a Turbofan engine while the latter uses a Turbojet engine. Turbofans are more efficient, allowing for a longer range with the same fuel tank.
The Taurus can be programmed to penetrate several levels of a building and detonate on a specific floor. Its detonator has an inertial sensor that can feel how many floors it penetrates through and can count them.
This makes Taurus perfect for penetrating through the road of a certain bridge and detonate at the pillars below.

    • @bj6515
      @bj6515 11 месяцев назад +4

In reality the most significant difference between the Storm Shadow/SCALP and the Taurus is that Ukraine has one type but not the other.
I wouldn't be surprised if Ukraine gets the new upgraded SS/SCALP replacement before the Taurus shows up, if it ever does.
As the old saying goes, 'The weapons you have may break my bones but dreams will never hurt me'.

      - "End of argument."
You mean end of your childish burst? All advanced weapons Ukraine has already gotten from the allied countries have been at some stage at the phase of "donation considered", and Storm Shadow/Scalp is no exception of that. Did you proclaim irrelevance of the Storm Shadow the same way before it arrived to Ukraine? Many, like ATACMS of the USA, are still at the phase where their donation is being considered.
It's noteworthy how some people in the allied countries get critical about certain things only when Germany does or doesn't do them, other countries getting a "pass" when they do them. Ironically the reason for that seems to be to large part Russian anti-German propaganda and hybrid warfare that Russia has conducted on the western social media during the most of the 2000's. Unfortunately that influence campaign was successful, and many regular people in the west seem to have acquired a staying anti-German attitude because of that. They don't know where their attitude came from, and believe that it's based on their own consideration and observations.

Removing any sense of democracy from Russia and turning it into an authoritarian state.

The creation of The Wagner Group to infiltrate The Donbas pretending they were job seekers and attack Ukrainian security forces in 2014.
Russia breaking every treaty including the treaty of Friendship which recognised Ukraine’s borders and under took not to use its territory to invade or harm their respective borders.
Russia breaking the Minsk 1 and 2 agreements ( and cynically blaming Ukraine) and murdering about 350 Ukrainian servicemen using a pre agreed safe withdrawal corridor
Russia pretending that ethnic Russian in The Donbas were in danger as they did in Georgia. Remember 85% of the Donbas voted to be part of Ukraine.Bear in mind that today you can speak Russian in Kiev without criticism and a third of Ukrainians speak Russian as their first language.
The barbaric unprovoked invasion of Ukraine in 2021
The kidnapping of over 20,000 named children by Russia. (Ukraine claims 700,000 children are unaccounted for). Putin is of course a wanted man for this
The bombing by Russia of hospitals and other medical facilities in Ukraine, (The Red Cross confirmed nearly 800 had been damaged in the first 6 months of the war). Russia used the same tactics of terror in Syria including bombing UN aid convoys.
The bombing and targeting of residential blocks, theatres, civilian infrastructure, shopping centres, by Russia etc
The extrajudicial killings of Ukrainian servicemen and civilians many with their hands tied on a scale which goes far beyond the excuse there are a few rogue units.
I could go on but I think you get the point.
      So what is civilised.
Putting in place democratic safe guards
A fair and balanced society where the enormous wealth in natural resources in Russia would be shared more equally instead of with a few Oligarchs
      Reducing corruption to a minimum
Having an independent judiciary and police
      Having a free press
Following a reasonable Human Rights Charter
Making politicians answerable and accountable for their decisions.
Providing aid to those in need whether that’s help with food security, infections and diseases, economic aid or military aid where a country is under an illegal unjustified invasion.

I am an aircraft mechanic, both Airframe & Piwerplant AND had lifelong participation in the Experimental Aircraft Association so I know how to build and repair PLUS I know that there's multiple software programs for designing aircraft that have been out for a decade or more. I also have a bit of knowledge about drone and RC aircraft that I know people with similar knowledge coukd use to make some type of cruise missiles. I've seen where the brain of a UAV was a regular cell phone because it has a lot of the capability of an autopilot with its GPS and position sensors and magnetic sensor plus air pressure /barometer/ altitude sensor.
Yes, something at the level of the US cruise missiles or the British Storm Shadow might be a reach at this time but a simpler craft is definitely possible.
As for targeting, dispersing manufacturing would certainly be necessary but it doesn't have to be some huge factory, a lot can be fabricated in small business spaces.

Doesn't BAE systems own part or all of SAAB-Bofors ? Also MBDA is also part owned by BAE... So not really a German missile at all... Anyway a missile that a spinless government will not supply is not a missile at all, it may as well not exist. The proper range of Storm Shadow and SCALP is 350 miles + and is only reduced to 150 miles for proper export version, but I assume Ukraine got ex-RAF proper range ones...
