THIS JUST IN! At approximately 5:30 pm a street party was being held near a rail line, around 6:00 pm this evening a supposedly drunk woman was standing on the tracks and struck by a UP empty stack train. The train went into emergency and the line was shut down this evening for cleanup, all BNSF, UP, Caltrain, CSX, NS and Amtrak trains thru have been rerouted. The party has been shut down and now the train will be backed up at 2:00 am according to first responders and tonight at 8:00 and, hold on, this just in the women has been pronounced dead and she was confirmed drunk. Prayers to the friends and family. The engineers have been sent home and will be undergoing therapy. Prayers to the engineers and folks remember to never play on railroad tracks and if your on the tracks and see those gates come down get out. Remember everyone listen, look, live, Operation Livesaver.
Those hope both the conductor and engineer is to live with the consequences of their actions for the rest of their lives when they along with a crowd had witnessed an UP flatbed run over and kill an individual who was standing in the middle of a crossing believed to be deaf when they didn't hear the train until it was too late. As the railway then swapped out the locomotives in the lead.
Back in the mid 80s I was crew when we made a Sunday run. At a signaled but not gated crossing a car went shooting across with the bells and lights flashing. Comment from the engineer was " 2 more coats of paint on the loco and we would have got her " as we went into emergency. After the mandatory brake check, I got back on the tail end. The car had stopped just down the road and pulled off. I can bet that someone had a need for clean clothes. It is something you really never want to deal with but know that if you are crew, sooner or later you will. I travel on Amtrak often and have a RR radio in the room. Our first run with the private car we had an emergency stop in Jacksonville for the same reason. People just don't understand that trains run any time, in either direction.
I used to do first aid training for BNSF. Invariably, someone had been at a scene of a fatal crossing or pedestrian fatal withing the past few weeks, sometimes as short as the same day. The number of people who get in the way of a train includes extremely few survivors.
the way you're able to put these scenarios together is totally amazing! Moral of the story, use some situational awareness and common sense when you're around train tracks. Don't stand on them. Trains can't stop very quickly the way cars can. RIP to the victim

Too bad they can't combine the airport fire truck with foam thrower on top of the locomotive cab, to wake the potential victim up. Hose'em down, they will move.
I find it strange that nobody tried to push her off the track when they knew a train was coming. I guess if she was drunk and didn't understand the train horn behind her was an oncoming train, well, drunken stupidity may end up with bad results.
My uncle was an engineer for BNSF for 17+ years. In his years as a conductor his train struck a man who was committing suicide on the tracks. He had to be in therapy for weeks after. That was the late 90s he passed away 11+ years ago.

BREAKING NEWS A freight train ran over a woman at a party near a railroad crossing in California The woman died a the scene there was nothing the paramedics could do to save her
There's footage that at least used to be here on RUclips from the late 80s or early 90s here in the Chicago area. Railfan vidiographer was taking video of the final years of BN's E9s in commuter service and passengers are getting off an inbound train and crossing the tracks. As a man and woman are crossing you hear a growing roar and the man hears it and stops short. The woman took two or three more strides before she heard it and stopped just about on the near rail pretty much to look up and see death coming for her in the form of an Aurora bound express train. Most of the videos freeze frame at the moment the woman is about to be hit but the full video drives home the point of rail safety as she is literally launched along the ground at a 35 45 degree angle towards the cameraman where the image goes static. Being familiar with that crossing and depot the woman was launched by the impact into a brick retaining wall/ flower box and then bounced off the wall and took out at least the guys camera though I cannot remember if he was injured or if he was able to duck clear. Tragic and something that will stay with you all your days so bear that in mind if you choose to look this video up
BREAKING NEWS!!! A street party was going on around five thirty and around two thirty there was a empty intermodal train going along and around six twenty two the train was coming towards the party and then blood splattered over the bottom front of the train.
But on December 21, 2016, it was later sent to the Norfolk Southern and by early 2017, it re-entered service as a normal freight locomotive. You might think it was scrapped, but no. Today, you can still see 8447 in service but in an NS paint scheme and the same number.
Looks like a tragic death animation on the Alhambra Subdivision. In reality that subdivision is quite busy with traffic. It comes out of Colton Yard in Colton California and winds up just east of downtown Los Angeles near Union Station.

The early scenes of the party clearly show warning signs and lights next to the diner/RV and the VW Combi on the other side of the tracks. But after the accident those signs/lights seem to have been removed; they certainly were not operating like they were at the crossings on either side of the crossing where the accident took place.
That was horrible. I throwed up my dinner. I wonder what funeral home will the girl be carried to.? So sad a deal to see a young girls life be cut so short. That was a great video. Make one with all the people eating and dancing on the tracks. If they stupid enough to risk there lives , then I won't to see a real massacre.
I doubt you would even hear it inside the cab. I watched a video of a train hitting a cow from the cab cam view and that's about the sound it made when the train hit it. A person is much smaller and lighter, would most likely make so audible sound at all. I've heard stories of trains hitting cars and not even slowing down because they were unaware they had even hit them.
I seen a video where a woman was struck by a commuter train. It was pretty old footage and it was kind of fuzzy but you could see it happen. Killed her instantly.
