Love the content, and I agree with the outcome. You guys had some really good discs in the bracket, and some of them have different uses. I bag a deflector for utility meat-hook shots and a Kaxe-z for straight shots into a lighter headwind. Might be a little rough for Dylan's forehand, but I would love to see you guys do the same shoot-out for understable mids. Some discs like the Kasta Svea, Discraft Comet/Meteror, Lat64 Fuse, and Discmania Neo Origin come to mind. Thanks for the video!
I've been baggin the pyro for 3 months now and it just keeps getting better. It's flat beautiful forehands perfect backhands good on anhyzer has some glide but not to much like my meteor but i don't want it to glide that much. There is nothing I would change with the pyro. That kaxe seems like a fairway to me like a stable crave
Today at Sawmills I was throwing my EMAC Truth and a friend's Buzz. I love each of them and have more practice with the Truth obviously. I feel I can get more distance from the Buzz as it goes straight but the early fade of the truth is so safe. Great video again. I am loving what you guys are doing.
The Kaxe and Kaxe Z are two different discs. The Kaxe is my favorite overstable mid: it flies like a Roc3 but with a little more speed, stability, and an awesome attacking fade. Your description of the Kaxe Z is spot on. It’s uniquely easy to flip out of the hand but then quickly stable and able to hold a line and glide, then finish reliably (but somewhat softly) overstable. I bag both. Kaxe Z is more versatile and fun, but the Kaxe is my money disc when I just need to nail a classic over-stable midrange hyzer shot. Oh, and K1 is fantastic, but I prefer K3 for the Kaxe.
We had a Kaxe in soft K1 plastic and it was flipper than the Kaxe Z. I really want to try the Kaxe in just K1 plastic and compare. Both were such great discs!
The Kaxe does, for sure. The Kaxe Z is debatable. If you keep the disc speed under 50 mph and/or add some extra spin, the Kaxe Z can fly just like a glidey Roc3. But, it can also open up and fly like an FD.
I agree with the conclusion. I bag the Malta. I carry the ESP and Big Z. They are both reliable and consistent overstable midranges. The Big Z Malta has a flatter top, at least the one I got does. Great disc, feels great and flies great!
This was a fun series as I’ve been looking for a straight to stable mid and every time I’ve picked up the kaxe z I loved the feel of it. I’ll probably end up buying that. I believe it’s suits my home course a little better. I’ll consider the Malta for more overstable stuff tho!
I've got a NBA JAM (BigZ) malta and I love it. It has a shot and when I put it out there it does exactly the same thing every time. That's what I like most TBH... it's the only 100% consistent disc in my bag.
I hope in the future you guys bring new challengers on to take out the Champion. I just got the 'Mutant' by Discmania and I think it beats your choice from the video. Love the content!
Awesome video. Wish you guys would have thrown a legacy recluse. I bag a pyro but my buddy just gave me a recluse and now i have overlap because i cant seem to take either out of my bag both amazing discs
Your channel is so relatable and entertaining. Great content. Going to be in wilmington NC for Thanksgiving. Heard there's a brewery with a 9 hole course!
@@justwondering1926 they both fly exactly the same. And yes, they feel different from each other. If you prefer a small diameter disc with a beard, take the Malta, if you used to a normal Buzzz, take the OS.
I would love to have an alternative conclusion in addition to this result. After learning all that you've learned during this comparison - Which two mid-ranges would either person recommend and for what reason?
Really liked this series. And, as it happens, I was looking for an overstable mid for when my Emac truth breaks in a bit more. (Or if my noodle arm gets "better").
If yall would have used the kaxe and not the kaxe z....kaxe would have won. Yall Use the understable version of the Kaxe. Z is the understable version of their discs, X is the overstable version. Although with the kaxe all you have is the Z and the regular plastics. Good job though.
When talking about the kaxe I would think after a few tree hits, the flip up would turn into turnover pretty quickly. From the get go it was borderline OS. To me that is not dependable so I would have placed in 4th after Malta verdict and pyro
But they showed in video disc Kaxe z, not disc Kaxe. And thats big mistake, because they are completely different molds. Kaxe z is more understable and Kaxe is great overstable midrange. And btw at the time 4:10 you can see so there is written Kaxe, but 10 seconds after is they hold Kaxe z.
I'm really happy that the kaxe z made it as far as it did. Though I'd rather it have been just a kaxe rather than a z as the standard is more over stable. I was wrong on a previous post. The rpm Kotuku would have been perfect for this list. Not so much the kea. Not enough glide
My kaxe is $$. These turds keep sportin discraft base plastic for $20 for one throw b4 the disc is damaged. It's such a no brainer i wonder who these guys are really sponsored by

Turds 😆 u gotta know i was just talkin 💩 yall seem like good people
Fantastic content... well done! It's the glow Roc3 for me that fills the overstable mid slot in my bag. Perfect for the pushing--rainbow hyzers to the ground. You guys have got me curious about the Malta and the Kastaplast Z, however....
Innova's glow plastic is another one of those plastics like the K1 that is head and shoulders above other plastics in my opinion. I'd love to try the Roc3 in that plastic. If you end up trying the malta or Kaxe Z, let us know how you like it! Cheers Robert!
Kaxe Z is basically a fairway.. The distinct sharpness of the rim is far greater than any of the other mids. You’re getting more glide and it’s going further than all other mids.. it’s kind of obvious that it’s a fairway. I can call a duck a goose but it’s never going to be a goose 🤷🏽♂️
I wonder your match up preference between Kaxe and KaxeZ. I enjoy KaxeZ as well for straight smooth gliding shots with reliable medium fade at the end. Also considering that these discs are engineered in Sweden the flight numbers reflect that altitude. Thus said here in the Midwest they fly more stable so far for me more than the numbers suggest which I like. Great discs overall. Now to try out your winner Malta!!
That's a tough one to answer because we only had access to a Kaxe Z in K1 plastic and a Kaxe in K1 Soft plastic. The Kaxe, which is supposed to be more overstable turned out to way flipper than the Kaxe Z. We think it was due to the plastic type. Based on our experience, between the two, you can't go wrong with the Kaxe Z. That thing is amazing! Let us know how you like the Malta!
Also, did they use comparable weighted discs? If you have one of these offbrand disks that way much less, of course they will fly further. Hoping all of the weight averaged out to be the same
I wish the Discmania Method would have been included in this competition. I'm sure it is too new to have seeded in the list, but I think it would have done quite well.
Okay just my 2 cents…… I loved the videos in this series but I jumped into the 2nd and 3rd one. I need to finish the first one. Cost and availability shouldn’t of even been considered but that’s just me since you can go on countless websites and find these discs. If anything the colors you’ll find will be the only issue. I personally bag a Malta but loved my Roc3 when I bagged that….. where was the Buzzz OS? It’s an overstable version of the most sold disc ever? Again I loved this series and will sub now that I went on a rant lol.
Weird question: Do you guys use Smash sound effects? I swear I heard the meteor smash sound and some characters' sound quips in this vid. Just curious, I love Smash Bros so I could hear them from anywhere xD
Innova Lion all day everyday. That is by far one of the most underrated midranges on the market and people should use that for their midrange instead of the Roc 3. The Lion is much more of a friendly midrange as it has 1 less fade than the Roc3 so you get a very consistent flight 100% of the time.
For all around versatility, the Roc3. For extreme overstability, I really like the Deflector, which I just discovered recently. I definitely would have included the Gator3 instead of the Gator, though, and that disc scores very high with me as well. I probably throw my Joel Freeman Gator3 more than any other mid these days.
Kaxe Z is a stable Crave, shouldn’t have even been in the bracket in my opinion. I agree on the winning disc, my Proto ESP Malta is great. There is a disc though that is emerging as a better suitor currently, it’s the Lone Star Middy.
Old video I know, but the Kaxe and Kaxe z really arent in that "overstable" mid area, great stright longrange mids that dont turn super easy, but not super os like a pyro, caiman, malta etc etc
This is a great video, but you def chose the wrong plastic for the kasta. A k3 Kaxe, not a kaxe z is way more beefy and is truly an over stable midrange driver
Thanks TATER! Where possible we tried to use as comparable of plastics as possible, but when we didn't have other plastic choices available we erred on the side of still having the mold represented in the bracket vs. keeping it out due to the plastic.
So... it sounds like i need to go to my local store and buy myself a Kaxe Z, they have an entire room with discs from Kastaplast, i would guess there are 250-300 discs in there ... Availability 5*... oh, did i mention i live in Sweden :D
