yes. thats kinda the reason i dont get the “he’s a rockstar, why are you surprised” logic. typical rockstars, you aren’t surprised. they’ve very open with who they are. but for a guy like dave, it seemed like he was trying to hide that part of himself. it definitely blindsided a lot of people

The public has a serious problem in always believing that the character you are seeing is the actual person. Literally, why do people always believe they’re the same being? When you see your favorite artist performance on stage, that’s the character you’re seeing NOT THE PERSON. Fans will literally stand up for a childhood celebrity that they feel like they have to worship and stand up for just because they give you entertainment on the television or made your childhood amazing with their music. You are in love with the artist and the creativity they provide to you, not their personality and who they are as a person in their own personal lives, because it’s impossible for you to know that version of themselves. People fall for it all the dang time and they always get disappointed when there favorite celebrity does something bad. 😂 That’s what you get for falling in love with the character on the camera and acting like that’s who they are 24/7. Even if you meet a celebrity in person, just know celebrities have to act in character with other celebrities and even their fans. When they’re being nice to you it’s because they’re trying to survive a pass with you, not because they’re actually enjoying the same moment that you are having with them.
i think it’s the “never meet your heroes” logic. you KNOW it’s a persona, but part of you what’s to think who you look up to is worth it. no one wants to think they picked the wrong person. i think it’s totally fair for people to be disappointed, even tho we all know how fake celebrities are 🤷♀️ personally, not in love with dave, although i respect his music. although i can see why people were so blindsided by it.
Halo Effect at its finest. I never enjoyed how the public always put this "good person" image not just on him but many other people. Same with how fans put theses celebrities on such a high pedestal. Its okay to admire the work and art they do, but always keep in mind you dont know them. They dont know you and you shouldn't have some obsession with them. Plus the whole "nice guy" with Dave Grohl is an obviously red flag 😂. Like no actual good or descent person boast about how good of a person they are.
as someone who has been a fan of dave for years i am not surpised at all honestly he cheated on his last wife too and i read rumors of him cheating on the current one a few months ago
Here's the thing. Cheater sucks obviously, but sometimes people fuck up. You can always tell when a person is actually sorry and people who just don't give a crap about your feelings. I feel like this cheating was just to fill an empty void he had inside of him..... Still though dave, you can do better than that. I know you can.
Gonna be honest, it's not that shocking to me. Celebrities are humans like us, whom also make stupid decisions. I always knew Dave had a nice guy persona going on, but I never bought into it since I had seen what happens when someone has a great persona going. Spoiler: most of the time it's fake.
i actually defended him then. didn’t think it was that big of a deal. i’m actually a huge foo fighters, nirvana, and queens of the stone age fan. dude is a huge drum inspiration for me. i love dave as a musician, but i can also call out a crappy thing when i see it. and before you say it, i can do the same with taylor swift. i’ve made plenty of videos giving her down the road lol

The reason why Dave Grohl sticks out is bc of his reputation doesn’t reflect his actions.
