I have only recently discovered Mr Vexler, and as an almost 43 years-old lifelong Australian who has no ancestral connection with the Slavic people (as far as I know without ever having had my DNA tested to reveal my ancestral heritage), and who became deeply concerned - and subsequently highly interested - in the history of Ukraine as a result of the full scale invasion of Russia, I am incredibly grateful to have discovered Mr Vexler's youtube channel.
I feel privileged to be a recipient of Mr Vexler's analysis, and I find him to be an inspiration especially after reading his "about" section of his webpage and learning of the adversity he, along with his family, has endured.

Maybe its just my American narcissism but its depressing how many parallels there are between the US and Russia at the moment politically. Trying to stay positive. The restoration of the legitimacy of institutions is the only way forward
Seems like parallels but the two mindsets are polar opposites.
The more I learn about Putin and his regime, the more I see it too. (1) Every accusation is an admission. (2) Setting subordinates against each other through overlapping assignments/spheres of control and watching subordinates duke it out for control/his favor. (3) Loyalty valued over competency. (4) Nobody is allowed to be more popular, loved, or outshine the boss. There are traits and tactics of both Trump and Putin. I'm sure I can come up with more if I give it more reflection. Is it any wonder that MAGA also holds Putin in high regard?
(5) Capture of institutions including the church (Fundamentalist Christian church in the US with attacks on Church and State separation in the US...no separation in The Russian Federation). (6) "Only I can fix it" messaging. I quoted Trump here. No need for collaboration because Dear Leader hold all the solutions in his "great brain".
good to see others noticing this... I have been saying for years now, millions of Americans have much in common with Russians... both will accept any lie, deceit and corruption by their cult criminal leaders. both societies have much in common and it is becoming clearer each year.
Console yourself with this notion. Americans voted for an Orange Wrecking Ball because inflation reached around 8% for a few years. Russians can’t vote PooTin out even though inflation there is at 9% and shows absolutely no signs of abating.
Jake Broe showed a video of displaced Kursk residents appealing to Putin. I thought the grandfather who delivered the speech showed a liberation from the obstruction to normative thought. He was certainly focusing on how things should be. He also showed no concern for any suffering that has taken place since Feb 2022.
Yep. Seen that, heard that. "Population" is apolitic, elsewhere too. Greek called "idiotes" those who do not care the "deeds and things of the state" (maybe not precise quote). Only theri own "everydays". Population are not always citizens.
He was appealing, kindly, to Putin, pointing out injustice. This is because those villagers are on the verge of becoming homeless. villagers can't afford to live in cities and pay for apartments in cities, they weren't compensated correctly and pensions are literally scraps, they HAVE NO CHOICE. Plea for help or live in an igloo. RuZi life!
It amazes me how selfcentered Russian soldiers or civilians are. As if they did not start an unjust war and now they are just so very outraged that their lives don´t go on smoothly, them being the good guys turning to their wonderful leader to help them.

Domestically, I am afraid (looking from Hungary) that Chaos in many domains is around the corner in the US. Foreign, and this topic: will see how strong his ties with putin are compared to his current interests. He may inadvertently cause positive outcomes. My problem with Biden/Sullivan : they were so cautious that they caused immense suffering by self-paralysis. By the same occasion weaking substantially US global stance. Blind /egoist action vs Over-tought inaction....Pick your favorite.

Amazing value, thank you. It reminds me of the comments of a friend of mine, who has deep connections in the Russian business world, after the Salisbury poisonings. He said that he was hearing that this was much more about the succession to Putin than an act by Putin. Theresa May even alluded to same in the commons by suggesting that Putin had lost control of 'his' stock of Novichok.

What happens if Europe can't reach a concensus on what security guarantees to Ukraine mean? This thought makes me more worried than any temporal development on the front to be honest.
Even France & Germany refuse to commit to the idea of NATO membership for Ukraine, not to speak of Hungary..
First things first;
There is not even a consensus what the NATO article 5 security guarantee to other NATO member states means;
Ukraine had experience with western guarantees in the Budapest memorandum, so I highly doubt they will go for anything less than western forces on the border...

Smaller groups of like minded countries having and looking forth at making treaties. North alliance, central alliance, Balkan alliance... and their projected collaboration and their processes. Could be a great thing and I think some of these are already on their way! Smaller, faster, better!
Is Cyprus a member of NATO? You can't become a member of of NATO with part of your territory under occupation.
