it was Don Johnson who took the casinos for 15m by negotiating terms. There are several documentaries on yt about him talking about it. The edge sorting thing was totally different

They’re not talking about Phil Ivey at 1:48, they’re asking about Don Johnson (Secrets of a Vegas whale). What Don Johnson did was negotiated himself enough of a rebate on losses to offset the 2-3% house edge on blackjack.

@@ImGearsBeast - The casinos have tape and they can review the taps to see if Dana is increasing his bet on a rich deck. The casinos never backed him off for card counting. A few casinos banned him for winning. I don't think he counts. Or maybe he does it on and off.

@@ImGearsBeast Dana White is not a card counter. There are videos up on youtube of some of his sessions with Adin Ross and that crew and I've watched and counted down all those streams. Dana is 100% not counting and he also doesn't even play close to basic strategy. Casinos are scared of him because he's willing to bet very big and then just walk after a short session at their casino that the law of large numbers doesn't apply and it's much more risky for the casino.

If Dana was willing to commit to playing Black Jack for a certain amount of time, I guarantee you he'd be welcome at all of the bigger casinos in Vegas. Don Johnson took some Atlantic City Casinos to the cleaners. It was during a struggling time and they agreed to his terms as they rated him an average player. The big thing in his terms were that he would get a 20% rebate on all his losses and any dealer mistakes were a win in his favor. Meaning if he signaled stay and they hit him or if signaled stay and they drew the card to themselves he automatically won. Sounds frivolous but that will work in his favor over time. The 20% rebate though was the monster that shifted things in his favor. If he played perfect strategy along with the 20% rebate that would outweigh the house edge within a given number of hands.

Every video of Dana White playing blackjack shows him with HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of marker chips on the table and he's constantly trying to pay them down. the guy is not some Rain man savant. you watch him play and he plays out of emotions and gut instinct like your average player. the only difference is he has a big enough bank account to endure losses and don't have to get rekt permanently like your average player. This allows him to stay in the game longer and recoup losses.

They dont agree with his terms because he doesn't commit to playing time. If he commits to playing for 4 hours at a million per hand they might let him do it. The issue is he just wants to play until he wins 3 hands and cash out. The hypothetical statement that he could win 100M if they let him is not likely because as soon as he is up 3M he will stop playing.

Dana White counts cards but it still wouldnt be profitable the way he does it at red rock. In order to be profitable counting cards you need to be able to play small then wait for the true count to be 4+ to start increasing your bet. Him playing 3 hands for 10k or one hand/multiple hands for 30k I would hope because he is trying to decrease/increase his bet.

Doubt that dana has any sincere intent to do this. Casinos can easily make deals between themselves to chop up the risk if they were actually concerned about making dividend payments / liquidity issues... there's too much being left on the table to not find a way to make it happen. The question is just whether it's worth the coordination for a guy who likely flakes or plays a very small number of hands. Would not be surprised if he one day ends up pissing most of what he has away, and if he does there will be precisely zero people who give a shit.

Casinos have the mathematical edge overall, on all games. They rather have thousands of smaller bettors, betting over hours, than a huge whale betting large amounts, and having a lucky streak in an hour, then quit. I recall Binions years ago, never turning down a large bet.
