As a Canadian RN now retired I have had to drive to and from the hospital in these exact conditions. I lived 50 miles away from work in the middle of nowhere thus too far to get in by snowmobile. I sure didn’t want to drive but was obligated to for my patients. Babies continue to be born even in bad weather. But I have to say when I reached my destination I almost had to have someone pry my hands off the steering wheel. Stay home when you can folks. The fewer cars unnecessarily on the road does make it safer for those who have to drive. I hope everyone stays safe 💗
I'm down here in the Northeast. Before the advent of everyone having an SUV, I can remember storms where the media asked people with 4-wheel drive to take medical staff to their work in hospitals.
They don’t have snowplows? When it snows like this in Chicagoland, the plows are running around the clock. Sometimes they can’t keep up with the intense snow and wind, but they just keep plowing until they get the roads clear. They really do a great job keeping us safe👍👍👍
I live in Maine and we deal with this every year. My Dad said... "Don't drive in it however if you do, go 5 miles an hour if you have to." Usually I do and have a long line trailing behind me doing the same and is the way to get home safe.

I drove from Sacramento to Portland, Oregon on Wednesday and Thursday. When I arrived in Redding at 5:00am on Wednesday morning, I-5 was closed ten miles to the north. I heard that there had been several crashes on the southbound side that led to the closing. By Thursday morning, they were allowing 50 vehicles an hour to go. By 9:00am Caltrans reported I-5 was open but chains were required near Dunsmiur to points north. When I got to Dunsmuir, the road was open and no chains were required. It was hairy, but not anything like they show here. I think these are videos from all sorts of archives. Huge amounts of trucks had been stopped on the side of the freeway Tuesday morning, miles of them. It was a real situation, but not as presented here. At least not in the Siskiyou Pass I-5 corridor.

We Canadians are used to this kind of weather, I know how to drive when there is snow on the roads or highways. Canadian highways are cleaned ASAP with lots of snow plowers , main streets are cleaned at the same time too. Elderly knows not to venture out when snow is heavy.
Yes, and the same holds true for several states near the Canadian border. It's all a matter of experience and infrastructure. This chaos happens where you have roads that aren't engineered for snowfall, vehicles that aren't equipped for snowfall, and drivers who are clueless about what to do in a snowstorm. Add to that an exploitative trucking industry that will viciously punish drivers if they don't make schedules or complete trips in unsafe conditions. I remember a case where a truckdriver was sued by a trucking firm because he left his vehicle when he was on the verge of literally freezing to death.
@@StephenRoss-po1rp I have. Not typical of most of Canada, since heavy snowfalls in the Lower Mainland are rare, and usually melt off quickly. Also, much of Vancouver's population is new arrivals from non-snowy places. I've noticed here in Toronto that it takes several years for immigrants to get the hang of it. Where I grew up (Northern Ontario), everyone kept a shovel, a bag of sand, flares, and survival goods in the trunks of their cars as a normal thing. Cars had block heaters to plug in at destinations. Montrealers, in general, laugh off a big snowstorm. Everyone knows the drill, and a fortune in heavy snow clearing equipment is always ready for deployment. It's a big expense, and a city like Vancouver would not find that scale of investment practical for its occasional snowfalls. The Maritimes get huge snow dumps on a regular basis, but they don't have the kind of financial resources to deal with them, and they subsequently have to grin and bear it. Toronto has several giant machines called "metromelts" which can gobble up and vaporize huge quantities of snow much faster than the more common plough, blower and truck relay systems. Nobody, however is ready for the tremendous ice storms that turn up every couple of decades in the St. Lawrence valley, due to its peculiar geography, and there are no machines that can deal with them. The Great Ice Storm of 1998 counted as a major disaster, still remembered.
Snow was so much worse then than what it is today. People don't carry supplies in their car or extra hats, coats and mitts, or any water or heathy snacks in case they have trouble.
The winter of 1968-69 was like the video was showing. We got a snowstorm every Friday for several months. It really seemed there was no end to snow and wind. I'll take 2 feet of snow without the roaring wind, because the wind will knock out your power lines. Suddenly getting dumped back into 1920 without power takes getting used to, especially after 4 days. Spring of 1969 brought record floods when all that snow began melting.
@@mandrews1245 My dad was a car junkie. At the height of my childhood, we had 8 autos around our small property. But he kept over half of them in top running order. AND he was super OCD about supplies in every one of them & multiple copies of keys etc. As a teenager, I was always super embarrassed by his eccentrics but it became clear VERY quickly in our brutal winters, he knew what he was talking about. And, as time went on, I would often get friends out of bad situations (happily so!!). I remember a few years a go, seeing this lady stuck in a ditch, no one stopping for her (an urban main road) during rush hour. I passed her but then backed up to see what I could do. She was trying to move the snow around her wheels with her hands. I quickly got to work with my child's old big beach shovel (well built I have to say!!) Didn't take long to get her on her way. And in a split second I told her to keep the shovel--BUT LEAVE IT IN HER TRUNK!!! I know my Pops would've wanted me to do that 🙂! California usually doesn't have this kind of weather so people have no idea what to do. .. like STAY HOME or just SIT WHERE YOU ARE. DO NOT GO OUT. till the snow melts. Prep the car with Emergency gear, but don't go out there. Take notes from the mountain folks who are used to this stuff. Hunker down. Wait it out. Nothing is worth your life.
We used to sit at lunch on snowy days and watch the cars coming down the road, betting on which ones would not make the stop sign. It is sad how many 4 wheel drive and suv owners think that with 4 wheel or all wheel drive i can drive faster than normal and stop on a dime. Well more like slide for a minute..
Remember a lot of new truck drivers are immigrants from warmer weather. Tjhey have no idea what snow and ice can do to roads. They got their license in the summer time.

@@moa8121 That's right, most fresh produce going to Hawaii or Alaska is flown in, and very pricey. Rail is ok for short runs that don't exceed 4 days, which is the maximum time we can really keep fresh produce on the road or rail and still call it fresh. Produce life can be extended by place them in air tight cold containers and purging all the air out with an inert gas, but that's expensive and only adds up to another week to the longevity of some produce like berries and lettuce.

In addition, agriculture items must be delievered or they will spoil or freeze in the winter weather. If a trucker doesn't deliver the load, they could be out $10/$20,000. Weather watcheds are not often right!
Imagine all the EV owners.
1st thought and all that green energy to charge them coming from............who knows.
ROFLMAO
I am.😁
They're at home safe because their cars don't work.
@@jch8376 I wouldn't say they were safe. Those batteries really hate to go dead dead. You never recharge a totally depleted lithium ion battery. Lots of videos on what happens. I've seen people try to revive one with a charger they consider disposable far from their house.
You all know that everyone was warned days ahead of time about this storm, the mountain roads should have been closed before hand
Nobody told me! :-) stupid: same here in Germany or Spain.
Weather reports every 30 Minutes: nobody listens.
@@ktadesse Well now you'll learn to check the weather before you actually take that drive, or trip
The video is about the snowstorm in California but she keeps talking about Washington State.
Low pressure zone travelled north up the coast.
I highly doubt this footage is from right now. I bet it's all old and sliced together
and Oregon
This is just people being stupid
Totally
Right!!! They look crazy as hell out there...Stay home! 😲🤦
Yes lol
Snow falls fast and if you are on the road already you can't just stop driving.
@ there was plenty of notice about this blizzard. Agreed, I’ve been on the road and had a blizzard stall or speed up and been caught…but these folks had plenty of warning.
"One of strongest storm in decades." Translation: strongest storm so far this month.
They were told not to travel, yet they do. Idiots.
Yep!
What I don't get they see and have been giving warnings so youd think they would be super cautious and slowww it down because of visibility.
People are getting dumber and dumber by the day.
Us a usa
Americans, they know that Trump going to fix everything.

2008 ( Obama elected because of Republican president bankrupt American)
2025, Greater Great Depression (Republican President)
I don't think mankind is going to make it. He refuses to heed his own warnings.
Drivers will NEVER learn about speed.!!!!!!!!!!!
They only show the epic fails bc you'd be bored otherwise. Yeah some folks don't know snow is slippery and learn the hard way. !YAWN!
Lived in Tahoe and Truckee 25 years ago, we called it winter and it happened every year about this time.
Only smart people who plans ahead avoids these mess. Stay off the road, save urself n ur family’s lives as well as other peoples. Especially the truck drivers. Give them some roads to drive through 🙏🙏🙏✝️✝️✝️
As a Canadian RN now retired I have had to drive to and from the hospital in these exact conditions.
RN’s, Cops and FF’s. And that just one guy that keeps the water system going, all listening to the DJ.
I'm down here in the Northeast. Before the advent of everyone having an SUV, I can remember storms where the media asked people with 4-wheel drive to take medical staff to their work in hospitals.
Canadian as well...I feel your pain. It can be terrifying out on the roads in winter.
They don’t have snowplows? When it snows like this in Chicagoland, the plows are running around the clock. Sometimes they can’t keep up with the intense snow and wind, but they just keep plowing until they get the roads clear.
They really do a great job keeping us safe👍👍👍
A lot of these areas don’t get this kind of snow to need the number of snow plows the Midwest and eastern cities have.
I live in Maine and we deal with this every year. My Dad said... "Don't drive in it however if you do, go 5 miles an hour if you have to." Usually I do and have a long line trailing behind me doing the same and is the way to get home safe.
Californians drive like they vote.
YOU, win the internet...😂😂😂
That is the truth! Used to live in California I am in a red state now, they don’t drive better down here in the south but what kills me is a semi trucks and other vehicles going 60 miles an hour on ice wow
They should get the idiots from the view to comment on this😂😂😂😂😂😂 I'll Supply the cupcakes?🧁🧁🧁🧁🧁😂😂😂😂
Ever been to Texas😂😂I will highest car insurance rates in America
But we are the wealthiest Americans😅5.50 minimum wage we got 16.00 😅😅😅😅that's why we're the 4th largest economy in the world. You broke red states need us more then we need you 😅
But, but, GLOBAL WARMING, we were supposed to die from increasing heat.
winter in america is great i love it there has a fireplace and a tv the video is great
It's not winter yet.
Never underestimate road conditions. Common sense & years of experience.
Ok, we can quit buying EVs now. It worked.
Agree, I don't think all (if any) of this video is actually from this storm, just footage from past storms. I had that feeling almost from the start.
This is completely alien to 99 % of Australian drivers.
Ya i bet and highly entertaining to us here who know better than messing around when this happens .
Lucky it’s not Australia then eh?
Our best entertainment in Minnesota is watching video of drivers in Dallas Texas when they get 3mm of snow. Its a regular wreck'em rodeo or bumper cars. LOL
@@LuvBorderColliesMN, however, doesn't have the mountains California, Nevada, Washington, Colorado have. so you guys just put chains or studs on and driving is pretty easy
In half these scenes the road conditions simply aren't bad enough for the chaos and wreckage displayed.
guaranteed not one person has snow tires on
I bet that 85% percent of these people out on these dangerous roads have no real reason to be out on them.
No one, save emergency services & DOT, have a compelling reason to risk life & limb in these conditions.
Over come their fear I guess.
Who taught those truckers how to drive I've been on the road and the truckers are dangerous even without bad road conditions.
California is not in chaos. We deal with these weather events annually. The clickbait is just so played out.
Oh, Commiefornia is absolutely in chaos. Maybe not because of these idiot drivers, but chaos nonetheless.
@@nunyabidness9578 right 🤣
We do? It isn’t chaos because of winter storm. It’s chaos when people drive that crazy in that weather.
If it isn’t the weather it’s the government
Um...ruclips.net/video/1JD0V-S6zj4/видео.html
You obviously have not been in Vancouver when it snows
Canada,We need some of your know how down here.
We used to get storms like this in the 60s and we would hitchhike to the resorts😂🙃
I remember my dad telling during that decade(60’s) winter travel on I80 and Hwy50 (Reno,Tahoe) heavy snowstorms were common
I quickly got to work with my child's old big beach shovel (well built I have to say!!)
Didn't take long to get her on her way. And in a split second I told her to keep the shovel--BUT LEAVE IT IN HER TRUNK!!! I know my Pops would've wanted me to do that 🙂!
Thanks to him (and always having a CAA membership from day one), I'm still here, ready to help, where I can.
How do you hitchhike on impassable roads ? How are you even able to be seen in whiteout blizzard conditions ? How long would you last trying to walk on the side of the road that you can't see anymore , nor can anyone see you ? And how could they pick you up , when they can't budge ?
stop using old clips from other videos. This is not fair and should be a strike against your channel. Too bad RUclips has bigger fish to fry.
The new AI bs news
Stay home if you can this is terrible.
Sometimes you just gotta know when travel is not possible. Businesses need to calm down and wait until the roads are at least drivable.
We have nothing in Vancouver, WA and Portland.
I’m shocked that so many trucks drivers seemed no to know how to drive in snow.
Probably illegal immigrants.
Remember a lot of new truck drivers are immigrants from warmer weather. Tjhey have no idea what snow and ice can do to roads. They got their license in the summer time.
Immigrants.
Such sensationalized headlines. Yes, 20" is rare for the lower elevations, and such accidents and closures are typical this time of year. However, the whole state of California is not "In Chaos!" Get a grip.
EVs don’t do well in below freezing weather.
Global warming 😂
No electricity cause of green energy
Voted blue now you got cold
Pacific Gas and Electric power lines are toppled. Has nothing to do with Green Energy.
BTW, do don't even have Green Energy.
Orange will be voted out before Jan. The 3rd attempt is the charm. Sounds like you got your money's worth from Dump the Hump Trump University clown college for the tards.
I got a bad feeling some people are gonna get very hungry. We rely on truckers to bring fresh produce in the winter here in New York.
The fresh produce can always be shipped by the railroad companies or flown by air freight companies but it will be more expensive than trucking .
This occurs in Upstate NY multiple times per year, but you dont see the mayhem on the roads- people know to slow down or not drive during a storm.
I've lived in both areas. Not the same.
How's those electric cars working out for you!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This doesn't look like 19" of snow, more like 1.9"!!!! Odd, haven't heard about any kind of pile up out of the current storm...I would have thought this would be all over the local news broadcasts??????
That trucker in the first clip should have his CDL permanently revoked. He should be charged with reckless driving too.
5:24 is from Europe, which makes this video suspect. Those are European trucks. I doubt this is one storm, but a series of clips from different storms.
It's an AI generated garbage video
nope. it's a huge storm here from the San Francisco Bay Area to Seattle, bruh. there might be some silly footage, but the snow is real and the severity is high. yesterday, 600,000 Washington households are without power until Saturday, Bruh

WTF…no snow chain requirements! We have them down here in SoCal for our mountain roads.
Didn't you notice how many vehicles had FWD and/or chains? They can help but not any guarantee of progress or safety.
Many road won't permit chains. Tears up the road and is too expensive to maintain.
dude. it's the same company. Ca DOT. guess they were caught sleeping?
I'd stay home

truckers don't use a CB radio anymore... so you can expect to see pileups... if i was in a 4 wheeler and i came across a pileup unexpectedly i would drive out of the road away from on coming trucks...don't become the meat in a sandwich
Shame on the greedy trucking companies that sent their drivers out in that weather.
We live in CA but I avoid highway 80 or 50 up and over Summit. Just too stressful wondering if and when I might start sliding & lots of people drive their normal high speed, which makes no sense.
like driving in Colorado. Just because you have 4x4 doesn't make you invincible. Heck, you're the worst thing on the road. Growing up in Nebraska, I was used to driving in this stuff and ice. Taught how to defensively drive - all you see now are crazy offensive drivers who believe their vehicle is the BEST. NOT. Glad Denver has good public transportation. I refused to drive when snowing, but got in the car and drove when it was icy. Mornons were not out when icy.
I love it just like SNL

It’s a normal winter condition in the California mountains. Newbies do need to educate themselves.
It's not even winter yet. Tf you talkin bout.
@ we’ve had snow in July too, that’s summer.
Wow! I live in Redmond Oregon, we are normal here, I had no idea of what was happening all around us.
Fortunately, they only had 19" of snow. Mount Shasta is having between 8 - 9' in 48 hours with 100 mph winds. Not sure what portion of CA got such a light snowfall.
These are videos from 2022 and it was during winter, not in November.
It's a lame AI type news aggregator.
Trolling for clicks.
SADLY this is "normal weather" for where I live in New York State.....and I am NOT even by one of the Great Lakes at all!! In fact I am closer to the PA state border, in the southern part of the state. BUT my area can and DOES get hit with bands of snow off the Great Lakes Snow Machine, when the wind is just right!!! THEN there are the Nor'easter that hit my area too!! A couple of years ago....the small town I live in got 54 inches of total snowfall in a three day period!! And that was like the snow I was accustom too, growing up in Ithaca New York, which is home to Cornell University at the south end of Cayuga Lake (Finger Lakes Region)!!
Been all over Syr, Ithaca, all Fingerakes it's rough
Great footage
Yes I was thinking the same thing. With all the cameras out today, you really get to see the carnage as it happens. You want to get out of your vehicle if your are the last in line stopped, or first to get rearended. That is when you can get really hurt. 4 way flashers on and watch your rear!!!
This looks like footage from last year's severe California winter storms.
My Mustang is parked due to no rear traction in deep snow with wide tires. The Explorer... it doesn't care about up to 8" to 10 Inches. Full Frame, with 2 wheel drive, . The new 13 spoke rims on the tang would look good out there with Brembo Red showing against the lovely snow, as we spin out..... Either way it helps if you know how to drive, and when not to.
I put 4 bags of kitty litter (wood chips) in the trunk which could be used as a back end weight and if stuck used as traction in place of sand.
Driving way too FAST! Thank weather control from HARP and DARPA!
Will the emergency response system be able to handle this? Hopefully no one is stuck for long.
Couldn't happen to a more deserving state!!
When blizzards hit the north east in winter, EVERYONE knows you don’t drive until the roads are cleared.
😂😂😂 no they don’t
More windmills and solar panels are needed.

2:28 ... I think the truck driver that FLATTENED the SUV ( killing them instantly ) - should be arrested for LIFE ... Vehicular Homicide & Driving to fast for conditions ... decided to go that fast ; causing him to lose the ability to stop ; making it "his" fault ... you could tell there was a lady in the car ; as the brakes & reverse lights were on.
I hope the person's family SUES the truck driver & gets him sent to prison for life - using his own footage !!
I think he was sliding downhill & out of control like the rest of the vehicles in the great big pile. Chill.
Believe it or not, this kind of idiocy also happens up north in canada, where they have winter for like 728 months out of the year straight up hundreds of people not prepared
You won't see any EVs trying to attempt to drive in this condition.
This is all fake. There isn't any heavy snow here until tonight. And in the Sierra's.
