Jaguar has finally unveiled its first new car since the controversial and divisive rebrand!
And what a car it is! It’s called the Type 00 Concept, and it’s meant to preview a four door coupe that’s due to be unveiled in late 2025. However, it’s totally different to anything Jaguar has ever unveiled before.
For starters, it’s super minimalistic on both the interior and exterior. There’s an absolutely huge grille design at the front (not that it will be used to cool the engine, given that this will be an EV!), and around the back, the taillights are hidden inside some horizontal line design elements. What’s more, there’s not even a back window!
The minimalism continues on the inside, with every surface being white, smooth and simple. Bar a long brass spine that runs through the whole cabin, that’s pretty much it!
But why has Jaguar taken this direction? Well, recently Jaguar hasn’t been innovating. It was workin non a replacement for the XJ in 2019, but then it was all scrapped at the last minute! Since then, sales have been falling, fast!
Only 64,000 cars were sold in 2023. In comparison, Porsche sold 320,000 cars in the same period, while BMW sold a colossal 2.2 million cars!
But will the gamble pay off? Stick with Mat and see for yourself!

This is a CONCEPT car. Not the final production version. Many other manufacturers have done much more outrageous stuff to their concept cars over the years for shock and awe effect. You seriously think the final production version will have that?? People out here all too eager to jump on the hater bandwagon without pausing for a couple seconds to think first. I hated the ad as well, and also think going full electric is a mistake, but the car itself design wise, looks great. It's exactly like Mat said, it looks like the kind of thing we all thought we'd be driving in 2025, back in the 80s and 90s
@@joaquinpaul8205 Yep, this Type 00 is very concept car, I bet the production will not as close as this one especially with size and proportions. The screens may not be an actual thing, the seats may not be a thing even since it pretty much lacks any ergonomic adjustments. The lack of glass on the back could be a thing though since others such as Tesla is trying to normalize this bad trend. Also the front lack the proper headlight, so there will be something there in the production to house real headlights and also with tail lights as well and side indicators. You know legal safety stuff. Even side mirrors will have to be fitted if they plan to sell this on countries that requires one like US.

EXACTLY!!! The brand and design were spot on! I've always wanted a Jaguar since I was a kid (and I'm not from the UK) but after growing up, I also want something reliable as I like to keep my cars for a long time!! If they just improved reliability that would be it, instead they ruined the two things that made them great!

I was going to purchase 2016 XJR....Next year..over CLS or 5 Series..it was going to be my first jag..but they have insulted thier core customers and tarnished the brand.

I've owned 5 jags in my life, and as much as I hate the rebrand, the prototype looks great and I'd buy it but in a more muted colour. Jaguar was always a little flamboyant, quirky and "special", this just pushes it probably a little too far for most.

I’m sorry, but this video has to be one of the stupidest takes on the Jaguar situation.
Bottom line is, there ISN’T a market for EVs and even less so for ‘luxury’ EVs. People don’t want EVs because there isn’t the infrastructure in place to support them I.e. they’re less convenient but even more evident is that they cost too much. The only people that will be able to afford these cars are C suit members buying them with tax write-offs… not exactly a market mover move is it…
