I was a volunteer fire fighter back in my 20s. Let me tell you, at full power, you need three guys on the line to keep it under control. Fire trucks can move a boat load of volume and I remember we emptied a swimming pool during a massive grass fire event in less than 10 minutes with all lines in use. Great, fun video!
I used to refurbish fire trucks, P19, P22, P23 and P24's we would take them and test the pumps by spraying old junked out cars and would watch them roll the cars over like a plastic bag blowing in the wind. Definitely AWESOME!!! Keep that content coming Scott!
When I was 12, me and a bunch of friends were hanging around watching the local volunteer FD doing training exercises at the junior high by tapping into their water feed. It was a hot summer so we all wanted to get wet, so we rode bikes by them and they knocked us all flying. I think I flew 5 feet. Luckily it was onto grass, but I still saw stars and had the shirt ripped off my back. I've had a healthy respect for a firehose ever since.
A small high pressure stream of water about the size of a pencil lead will cut right thru a steel plate! People have lost arms and even HEADS from water and steam!
When I was in Scouts as a young teen (12 or 13 or possibly 14. So back in 1996 or 1998); We spent a long weekend on the U.S.S. Salem, if I recall the name right. It had lost one of the deck guns in a heavy storm and never got it replaced for the remaining duration of the ships use. I remember that. Anyways, we got to simulate an engine fire. And we got to learn how the hoses work. I got to be at the front, the one who opened the nozzle. Which had to be deliberate, as *as an adult now*, I am 5 feet, 2 inches tall. I was positively pocket-sized as a teen. The all clear came up the line of people holding the hose, I opened up the nozzle, and *WHAM!* went flat on my back from the force. To my credit; I did not release the hose! Though it took a bit of effort to close the nozzle. I was soaked and laughing my butt off.
About to have my second hip replaced at 35 and pretty anxious about it. Everytime I see one of your videos its like seeing a brother do fun stuff. I wish I could get the chance to just get to hang out and ride four wheelers together. Past fireman turned fulltime medic with age and back pain, and I gotta say this embodies some of the best times you can have after a good training and the intrusive thoughts while screwing around with the guys (unapproved by the officers)
Well half of me is like, "It's just a truck that was either scheduled for scrap or reuse some how, so it's not a huge loss." And the other half of me is like, "That's probably how a lot of other historical artifacts were lost to time." I can totally see internal combustion engines going this kind of route. Someone gets an old Willy's L134 engine and runs the sucker and experiments to see what it takes to blow it up and that just happens to be the very last one and we no longer know how to build them... That's probably how all the other things from the 90's became ancient artifacts.....1990's that is.🤣
I remember back in girl scouts, we visited a Fire Station, and they basically said that at full blast, the Main Nozzle/Hose on the average Fire Truck could and would literally strip your skin off, possibly right down to the bone. Or in better comparison, a simple spray at max pressure would be like being dragged behind an F-1 car, with your skin/muscle being ripped off, while taking a blast heading would be like getting slammed into by a solid steel wall at near 100-200 miles per minute (or something similar)
only operated a fire hose a couple times in my life, both in training scenarios, but man the first time i opened up the bale on a fire hose you learn how impressive a force water pressure is, and why you need a hose team!

@@eriklarson9137 It kinda is important. Assuming Scott will keep the rig as a precaution...He should take care of the pump. A fire truck without a functional pump is just like a tank without its main gun. Powerful, but utherly useless.
All the incredibly powerful weaponry we’ve seen on this channel, and yet the sight of Houston smiling while playing with a lighter may still be the most terrifying 😂!

As a former firefighter 12 years as a driver/operator, the spray can cause injury. They were using a 2.5 or 3 inch hose. At 200psi that translates to around 400-500 gallons per minute. Depending on the pump.
@@brianhamalainen8817would be more like 1400 pounds of force per second because you have 200 psi and about 7 square inches of water exiting from a 3 inch nozzle meaning it would be 700x2 but I'm just now realizing you calculated for the weight of the water not the pressure like I did lmao
@@noodlelynoodle. Yeah, I was going to do those calculation, but I remembered that fire nozzles basically spray 'hollow' sprays of water so figuring out the water cross-section would be pretty tough. (How It's Made has a good video on fire nozzles, that was suggested from this video, and it shows the central core that spreads the water out)
@@brianhamalainen8817 I feel like it would probably come out to about the same amount of total force overall even though it would be less surface area then cause I imagine if it's spreading it like that it's increasing the pressure past 200 psi in the nozzle and concentrating that force down into basically a circular knife of water lmao I could be totally wrong about that but like my thinking is if you're taking a 3 inch hose worth of 200 psi and forcing it through something to distribute it only around the edges like that the pressure must increase
@@rhabeldibabeldi6812 depends what state your in. With that capacity, it's definitely not California compliant. You may have to get the tax stamp for a short nozzled hose too
I would caution him from getting a quiet exhaust when that engine revs up for the pump - you could make the argument that he is silencing the cannon. ATFW would be all over that...added the W for water. It's coming man.
Fun fact any fire truck in use today and any fire truck in the last 100+ years have the same thread and pitch meaning you can hook up hoses from a new truck to a retired 1920's truck and hoses will connect
I think that was mandated so that if one truck goes down for any reason another can take its place regardless of age or brand of manufacturer. Just imagine back in the day if one township has a rig crap out on a fire and the other township next door is called in.....Just hook in and go.

That was just nuts! Also, with you standing with the fire hose between your legs spraying out, it looked very dodgy. The scarecrow looked far better when it revealed itself as a Terminator. You and Houston laughing hysterically as you destroyed the zombie, first by flowing his head off and scalping it, then seeing organs flying when you blasted it point-blank before driving it into the wheel arch of the truck. We saved this for our usual Friday evening Scotfest. You didn't disappoint !!
Matt builds a fire truck because he literally needed one because of all the insane stuff he does. Scott just says hold my beer and buys a ready made one that he really doesnt need just because his camera man showed him an ad for one. Being a GunTuber must be weird! With that being said, buying one just to see if HJ can survive it was an AWESOME idea and I think that the majority of people will agree.
Check your pump pressure when you’re flowing water. Often times when you open the nozzle the pressure drops. Happy to see you fulfilling every police officers dream of becoming a firefighter!
Oh it definitely drops on a hose that size. You’d need a massive pressure tank type setup if you wanted any hope of keeping that pressure completely consistent, at least on that rig. Still super powerful though.
Houston is too funny, I am absolutely so happy to see modern(in the last couple years) start featuring each other and other youtubers whether they're gamers, the slo mo guys and anyone else! We used a 3" fire hose to wash down the roads at the power station where I worked. At 225 lbs it was all I could do to hold the thing down....and when one of the new guys who weighed about 130 tried to do it....that hose about beat him to death until he let go of it. Just hilarious how much power a little water can have!
Fun fact: in the 1976 movie carrie, an extra PJ Soles was sprayed by a fire hose for a death scene, the fire marshal didn't want to do it, but the stunt coordinator did manned the hose. The full force sprayed forced hit PJ on the side of the head and force her head to turn resulting in the hose blasting into her ear rupturing her eardrum

I was washing a car once with a pressure washer and somehow managed to slip my hand directly under the nozzle. It was a 3000psi machine and took a good piece of skin off my hand. Still got the scar.😅
Somebody that lived near me was playing with the granddaughter, He pointed the jet washer at her face not realising, The water went up her nose and in her mouth, Sadly she didn't make it to the hospital, The pressure was that high it ruptured her brain. Them things can be lethal.
I was an honorary member of the Laurel County Fire Department in Kentucky when my younger brother was an active member for 6 years. I got to do alot of fun stuff and worked my butt off at the station.
The excitement exhibited by these to gentlemen enjoying a fire hose has the same energy as a couple of kids playing with the garden hose, pure nostalgic joy!
As a structural Fire Fighter in Australia, it was awesome seing you both take on the 70mm hose like champions 😂 when we go full dog on the water pressure it takes 4 or 5 people to hold and you are working hard.
Flowing water is always a blast! You want to slowly open and close the bale as you're flowing to prevent water hammer at the pump. Slamming the bale like that will shorten pump life substantially but the kick is amazing. Try a smooth bore nozzle the next time it fires a straight stream of water for more penetration and the nozzle reaction is more fun too!
the funniest part was at about 10:35, they were laughing their asses off at the pressure hitting the zombies head, all happy as can be, and then the head came off and their faces went from happy to panic and i died XD!!!

Of course it will drag them all over the parking lot

Germany does love training their youth. 😂
Jugendfeuerwehr, hell yeah!
when you say " if ya play with fire you will pee the bed." it brought back memories of my grandmother she would say that.
Single handedly made a push with a 2 1/5 multiples times haha
@@Squidboy12yeah sitting on it in the yard maybe
I used to refurbish fire trucks, P19, P22, P23 and P24's we would take them and test the pumps by spraying old junked out cars and would watch them roll the cars over like a plastic bag blowing in the wind. Definitely AWESOME!!! Keep that content coming Scott!
sounds like a lot of fun :D
I’m just glad this man works far the hell away from where I live 💀
When I was 12, me and a bunch of friends were hanging around watching the local volunteer FD doing training exercises at the junior high by tapping into their water feed. It was a hot summer so we all wanted to get wet, so we rode bikes by them and they knocked us all flying. I think I flew 5 feet. Luckily it was onto grass, but I still saw stars and had the shirt ripped off my back. I've had a healthy respect for a firehose ever since.
A small high pressure stream of water about the size
of a pencil lead will cut right thru a steel plate!
People have lost arms and even HEADS from water and steam!
@@ludicrous7044 water jets are a whole different level of pressure compared to a fire truck waterhose xD.
I always find comfort and a home feeling watching and thanks from the bottom of my heart, Cody from small town Tx.
Past fireman turned fulltime medic with age and back pain, and I gotta say this embodies some of the best times you can have after a good training and the intrusive thoughts while screwing around with the guys (unapproved by the officers)
Their reaction to the water hammer was like little kids getting excited about something 😂. Little did they know they were damaging the pump lol.
That's probably how all the other things from the 90's became ancient artifacts.....1990's that is.🤣
Wish they used a smooth bore instead 😅
I remember back in girl scouts, we visited a Fire Station, and they basically said that at full blast, the Main Nozzle/Hose on the average Fire Truck could and would literally strip your skin off, possibly right down to the bone. Or in better comparison, a simple spray at max pressure would be like being dragged behind an F-1 car, with your skin/muscle being ripped off, while taking a blast heading would be like getting slammed into by a solid steel wall at near 100-200 miles per minute (or something similar)
10:46 Bro is giving the cartel new ideas💀
Getting old is mandatory, growing up is optional 😂😂......I don't think I've ever laughed so hard for a KB video!
only operated a fire hose a couple times in my life, both in training scenarios, but man the first time i opened up the bale on a fire hose you learn how impressive a force water pressure is, and why you need a hose team!
Former firefighter here. At full psi even the older trucks put out enough force to knock down brick walls. Ive done it.
Thanks for your service friend!
Tower ladder = wrecking ball
@@fdMT_EnGy Couldn’t be any truer, we only have one ladder in my district as we’re all rural volunteer departments with the exception of the one paid city department who has the ladder and our saying is, when the tower goes up, the building comes down.

dont worry, it was an upgrade ;)
Truth-he became a land pirate.

He has to actually fight fire to be a fire fighter
A friend of mine from highschool actually did the opposite. He was a firefighter for years and now works for the sheriff's department back in Arkansas.
I remember when training new fire
Fighters we'd sometimes up the pressure and have them use the hoses solo just to watch them fall backwards from the pressure. Great video.
Scott, as a career firefighter, Stop slamming the valve shut, that sudden stop of water flow causes " water Hammer" can and will damage the pump and piping on the truck... love the video as always man,
I'm glad I wasn't the only one to see that.
The force that can be generated is no joke!
Psssst. No one cares.
*No one cares other than people who want to claim they are, or were a firefighter.*
@@eriklarson9137 It kinda is important. Assuming Scott will keep the rig as a precaution...He should take care of the pump. A fire truck without a functional pump is just like a tank without its main gun. Powerful, but utherly useless.
At 5:50 is yet more proof that Halloween is the best time of year to shop for home décor.
Scott is living out most of our childhood dreams of having our own firetrucks...and this one works!! Super cool.
All the incredibly powerful weaponry we’ve seen on this channel, and yet the sight of Houston smiling while playing with a lighter may still be the most terrifying 😂!
Retired FDNY here. Hey Scott, now try advancing the hose line on your knees with high pressure, and wearing around 100 lbs. of gear, in a high heat and stress confined space. Don’t forget all of the lethal tools on the ladder truck.

I beg to differ. Happy Gilmore accomplished that feat no more than an hour ago.

As a former firefighter 12 years as a driver/operator, the spray can cause injury. They were using a 2.5 or 3 inch hose. At 200psi that translates to around 400-500 gallons per minute. Depending on the pump.
500 gallons = 1892L =1892kg = 4171 lbs.
Divide by 60 for seconds 31.5kg/69.5lbs per second
@@brianhamalainen8817would be more like 1400 pounds of force per second because you have 200 psi and about 7 square inches of water exiting from a 3 inch nozzle meaning it would be 700x2 but I'm just now realizing you calculated for the weight of the water not the pressure like I did lmao
Thank you for your service! o7
ATF after watching the Video: Sir im going to have to come take away your high pressured hose 😂

I would caution him from getting a quiet exhaust when that engine revs up for the pump - you could make the argument that he is silencing the cannon. ATFW would be all over that...added the W for water. It's coming man.
Just used this as Department training hours lol I really did learn a lot. And I just took my hydraulics course so watching you pump was funny.

As always, great stuff! But am I the only one that got anxious when Scott straddled the hose… 😬😂
That's practicality that one can only expect from the Fire Guys.
That might be good to know someday, actually.
Isn’t it outdated then by now?

That was just nuts! Also, with you standing with the fire hose between your legs spraying out, it looked very dodgy. The scarecrow looked far better when it revealed itself as a Terminator. You and Houston laughing hysterically as you destroyed the zombie, first by flowing his head off and scalping it, then seeing organs flying when you blasted it point-blank before driving it into the wheel arch of the truck. We saved this for our usual Friday evening Scotfest. You didn't disappoint !!
HOUSTON JONES IS BACK BABY
Matt builds a fire truck because he literally needed one because of all the insane stuff he does. Scott just says hold my beer and buys a ready made one that he really doesnt need just because his camera man showed him an ad for one. Being a GunTuber must be weird! With that being said, buying one just to see if HJ can survive it was an AWESOME idea and I think that the majority of people will agree.
The best part is, that his cameraman is his Dad.
AngryCops bought 2 firetrucks and renovated them into party trucks for events.

Bodybuilders? haha. The most wholesome channels are becoming the fire arms youtubers that make wholesome content FEATURING firearms. More entertainment than anything and that's what this platform was intended for, not activism.

Yeah, I used to use inch and a half attack lines in at full power. It was uncontrollable, and i'm a hundred and forty ish pounds

I barely touched the tip of one by accident and almost cut my finger off

Flowing water is always a blast! You want to slowly open and close the bale as you're flowing to prevent water hammer at the pump. Slamming the bale like that will shorten pump life substantially but the kick is amazing. Try a smooth bore nozzle the next time it fires a straight stream of water for more penetration and the nozzle reaction is more fun too!
