I just love how Elon ignores the prestige of mainstream outlets and instead gives this kind of access to a youtuber, because he recognizes the enthusiasm and interest in the subject matter as well as the audience following it
I think he just knows that it would be totally pointless with any kind of news outlet because they wouldnt understand anything they are seeing. They wouldn't know what questions to ask and wouldn't know how to followup any answers even if they were fed questions. And worse, most interviewers would be standing in the middle of rocket parts trying to ask "gotcha" questions about Grimes and Bitcoin and Tesla stock. Because gossip is all they understand.
and he can also be himself without thinking or stress about it. He texted his head of the shield department when they were talking ... it may look rude sometimes but is not those prestige boring interviews.. is more like talking to a friend while happens to record a video of their walk.
Its so refreshing to have a competent interviewer asking Elon questions. Most of them ask the same worn out boring questions and you can just see him trying to dumb down the answer to normie speak. Its very pleasant to see his thoughts flowing freely and dopping knowledge nuggest at like 5 a minute.
Elon really seemed to enjoy talking shop with someone who could understand him technically and ask intelligent questions...this was Elon out for a beer with Tim...

Tim is giving Elon feedback that he is being understood. By encouraging him to consider this as a simple conversation with a friend rather than a pronouncement to millions of fans and thousands of detractors he encourages a more candid response. And it's easy to misstime a response while walking and filming in a unique high noise environment.
This is amazing. the CEO takes the time to guide you around and personally explains you the most complex system ever conceived. I cannot imagine anyone except Elon Musk would ever do that. That's why we love him.

My understanding of the reason why this was done was Elon has not had the time to do a Spacex day update in two years and Tim talked him into doing this interview as an alternate to that. So great of Elon and Tim for doing this format...
@@korona277 The Tony Bruno interview was great, but a lot more things were labeled as ITAR protected or "secret sauce" so we got less details about the design process and considerations (other than the honeycomb milling on the faring which was beautifully explained). The level of detail and explanation in this interview is amazing! It is also really neat to see the stark contrast between an established production line and a prototyping facility.
What amazes me is how unfiltered Elon is. There's no hype, he takes every question on its merits and actually thinks about it, often coming up with new insights, and never falling back on marketing-speak.

Agree. To even understand what they are talking about in this video you need to have quite a lot of knowledge on SpaceX and rockets in general. Pretty much all my knowledge is from watching Tim's videos.
Mainstream media already frames all their failures lol. They have a thing against Elon and SpaceX. When SN8 crashed the headlines were “SpaceX Rocket Comes Crashing into the Ground in Wild Failure” or something along those lines, when it literally was just a test in part of the development process.
This is a historical document, and I don't think that's hyperbole. Imagine if we had an interview like this with Thomas Edison, or Henry Ford. And they were completely open and honest. It's freaking amazing. I learned so much. Thank you Tim.
History will look back on Elon Musk as one of the most important people to have ever lived. And he's just getting warmed up. I predict that one day, far, far into the future, his Roadster will be recovered from space and brought back to Earth (or if Earth is gone by then, to humanity's new home) for display as a historical artefact of great significance to humanity.

this is exactly it. Good observation. He extends his talk-time when he's with someone who understands what he is talking about, and doesn't ask formulaic "reporter" type of questions.

Elon just thinks so differently. The majority of us think stuff he says is insane, but then after he explains it, it becomes the only logical way.
Those were comments that caught my ear as well, I love the way he thinks! All of these comments come from lessons learned, in life and during Starship development. "If it doesn't blow up, you have to find a place to store it", was probably not something Musk thought of before Starship.
One of the things I like most about Elon Musk is that when someone asks him a question he stops and thinks. And he takes whatever time he needs to answer.
I think that is a very good observation for all of us to take note of. If you just come out with your answer it indicates you didn't think, or must be insanely clever to think that fast. Useful interview technique perhaps. LIke, think before providing a stock answer?
I watched this in real time at the 2019 Tesla Shareholder event. Towards the end one shareholder asked about wether Tesla would be making a car that could convert to a submarine. The audience and board members noticeably chuckled and passed this off as an odd question. Elon paused, thought, then gave a detailed response in which he indicated his love for the idea, as indicated by his purchase of the James Bond Lotus “submarine” and how fun a project it would be to make that real. He then went on to answer that no, Tesla would not likely pursue that Avenue. I was amazed that he took the time to answer what was obviously an uncomfortable question for most in the room. It really showed his humanity.

@@pilot8766 I think i read in the Ashley Vance book about Elon he is known to be sometimes asked a question and just sit and stare for a few minutes, then suddenly answer it. It can be hard to deal with because it would probably feel awkward, but in the end, why not?
As a welder who’s traveled all over the country welding. To hear someone like Elon musk say things like “I’m often wrong” and “if it doesn’t make sense we need to change it”…. It’s just mind blowing. He’s the definition of what an engineer should be. Sadly he’s one of very few who will admit things like this

Credit for Tim for: 1) Getting this tour with Elon himself as your guide; 2) Asking intelligent and relevant questions so much so that Elon seems to be enjoying this interview; 3) Leading the questions in the right directions and even giving good suggestions; and 4) not feeling too small by this man's intellect.
The way Elon pauses for a moment and shifts his eyes all over the place before an answer, you know the man deconstructs everything before replying. He admits that he's way too optimistic with his timelines but he followed that up with a good reason behind it. I have not seen a Billionaire at his status be this involved with everything that's going down.. I got so much admiration for Elon. Man is fighting hard for humanity. Nothing but Respect!

That explains why NASA chose Starship HLS for the Artemis moon missions. Nasa is considering scraping SLS. Instead SpaceX would launch astronauts into LEO on Crew Dragon, dock with Starship HLS lunar lander, go to the moon, come back to LEO ... That would involve lot's of unmanned starship tanker launches & recoveries to refuel the HLS. Even Starship HLS would be launched unmanned into LEO. No problem if a few unmanned Starships blow up/burn up in the process. That eliminates endangering the crew because they would be flying safely on Crew Dragon.

Actually, Elon had multiple Media™ outlets there around that time, and he did a walk-around of the plant, answering questions. Of course, their interviews sucked compared to Tim's, but they did get invites.
He may be wrong about details, from time to time, but he has the vision thing going on. Besides, that's why he hires engineers. I don't see that as humility, per se, heaven forbit false humility. I think that's the way a leader has to see things.
I have watched this several times through and 2 things stand out…. #1 it’s unbelievable how much more I glean from one time as opposed to another #2 Tim’s style so works with Elon like nobody else…. Tim gives Elon time to think, time to let his mind wander but also has a feel when it is time to help him move through his thought. So very good.
For a man that is worth over $100 Billion, I am happy to see that he gives some of his time to explain these things to Tim and the YT community for what is essentially free. Can't get a politician to talk to anyone for less than $10k per minute.
I’m a retired tool maker and worked with engineers for 45 years, Elon reminds me of the best ones who had the schooling but learned the most important things from the people who had to build what they designed. I also like that he has a every day Joe persona about him you would never know he is one of the richest men in the world.
He doesn’t act like the richest man in the world because it doesn’t matter to him. It’s just a byproduct of what he actually aspires to. He’s not keeping score by how much money he has. He’s keeping score by if he gets the world to use electric vehicles, or solar energy, or reusable rockets off Earth.

I just love it how the conversation goes. Looks like he's really thinking some of Tim's comments over. Then how the workers tell their boss and one of the richest men in the world 'Hey, move over'. Then how he texts his heatshield guy over something he saw. Also a sugestion, use helmets.
Helmets in such places are overrated, for example in construction they help, if a small tool or part of a brick falls down, in a factory, if a 10 kg part falls from 3 meters, helemt or no helmet your head is mush

This was so cool. As a guy who thinks before he speaks when after accuracy, and as a guy who has worked with a lot of coders who do the exact same thing, Elon sounds just like lots of people I've spoken to. The comments that he sounds like a robot doesn't fit in my head. He just sounds like a guy who doesn't like to answer inaccurately. I respect that. Great work too Tim.

The amount of specific engineering knowledge presented here is insane. Engine specs, maneuvering using lift force, heat transfer specifics and fluid dynamics relative to thermal management. Love this! He's obviously suffering from lack of sleep and a bad back, as he mentioned on Twitter, but every time he gets hooked by a question from Tim it seems like there is nothing he would like more than to answer them 😊
Elon is a tall man, deceptively so. Many tall people suffer bad backs as the world is not designed for tall people unfortunately. You can definitely tell by his movements he is suffering.
i'm always impressed that even though he's the top 3 richest person in the U.S., he's still so chill, accessible and so involved with his companies. almost every other millionaire at his level would be wearing a thousand-dollar suit, surrounded by 50 bodyguards, and granting interviews only to exclusive tv stations.
Elon is not particularly "Liquid". His stock options are worth multi billions, but he is not liquidating that stock to party on. And he is not in it for money.
I work at a major medical device manufacturer, and the comment from Musk that really hit home with me about Engineers. "The most common error of a smart engineer is to optimize something that shouldn't exist" Wow, that is what I see constantly at my company. Wish we had more engineers like Musk.
I like how elon choose tim for this Interview over everyone else that would pay any price to be there. It was the right choice. Tim for dear moon, I hope yall agree with me
Actually, Elon did interviews with multiple media outlets with guided tours of the facility during this same period. I believe NBC was one of the big networks that did one. Of course, their reports suck compared to Tim's, because they're just stupid, lying Media™ "journalists" who haven't a clue what they're looking at or being told.
@@SteveKasian Reporters are expensive. Having one on payroll who is doing nothing is a waste of money. That means that almost all journalists are generalists who go from story to story, without an in-depth subject knowledge. That means that for technical subjects, they fail. Tim has spent a lot of time and money to become knowledgeable on the subject, so his interview obviously goes places the generalist can't.

There are a few cuts. Elon would not have taken this interview if he didn't want to. The timeframe was probably agreed upon. This is not just for RUclips viewers. This is to get information out there, to recruit new talent from the top colleges and universities. And to find these types of people who maybe never went to school. It also informs Investors of what he is doing and shows what their money is going toward.

Probably only series of videos on YT, where majority ( like me) have no knowledge of space and rocketry but still watch them for no other reason then the insane effort put by one men for the betterment of human and humanity 👏
I gotta admit Tim did an excellent job letting Elon talk, moving on smoothly when he knew a question couldn't be answered, pacing, and sometimes dictating the tour and I'm only halfway through. Pretty impressive juggling act considering how unique this situation is. Great work man.

Anyone who doubts Musk and the direction he goes should see this video. It's great how natural you are with him, Tim. Awesome work. I never imagined it could be better to have a RUD instead of having to retrieve and store the ship or booster. Never before has the public had such access as something new is created.
The knowledge Elon has and the fact that he is so involved with his company is second to none! It is insane that he self-taught himself literal rocket science, and nowq he's leading humanity's space exploration.
Could tell that Elon was a bit worn out, but still, especially in this section (maybe because there was less beeping and thus easier to focus) tons of interesting insights and considerations. I love how Tim asks really valid questions and Elon comes up with new ideas on the spot and takes Tim's input and ideas so well.

Yes, to have an effective interview here, and especially with Elon, you need relevant domain knowledge - and a lot of it, both "wide" (lots of topics) AND "deep" (lots of detail on those topics). Not as much as the interviewee, obviously, but a non-trivial fraction of it
Comment to Tim: the first video I watched of yours was you explaining the different rocket engines and fuel, full flow etc. I was certain you were an engineer of some sort. Imagine my surprise when I found that you were a professional photographer who had latched on to a space suit and self educated on rocketry, aero dynamics, sea level vs vacuum engines. Impressive. This conversation with Elon was at times was hard to follow. You did an awesome job of keeping conversation in context and bringing up fine points that indicate how much you know about previous iterations and processes. This s not your first interaction with Elon. I’m happy he values the Everyday Astronaut. You both are so down to earth! Great job.
I really respect Elon, he is actually interested in what is going on around him and what his company is doing rather than just getting money out of it. He does not have a huge ego when talking about himself 37:55 "Take a lot of what I am saying with a grain of salt because I often am wrong. He seems like a good role model for how CEOs should look at and treat their businesses.
In this respect, he is SUCH a breath of fresh air. I've had managers that admit mistakes and take responsibility, but I've never worked anywhere where anyone on the executive team admits they are wrong. They always hedge or spin to make it seem like they were always right all along which is really kind of gross and pathological. I don't agree with him on everything but I'd love to work for Elon tbh.

Youre right someone like elon attracts good people. Most ceos or top board members threw everyone they knew under the bus to get to where they are. Which is sad.

I still cannot believe how long and in-depth this interview (and factory tour) got. About 3 hours, soooo much more than we would’ve ever asked for or even dreamed about. And we might be doing it again within 2 months‽ This series feels to me like it’s one of your most valuable pieces of content. I think it is amazing how he pushes through with a three hour long interview like this and is so friendly and approachable during the whole thing (and also taking care of business at the same time) - while he is having horrible back pain and is clearly not feeling good. He was visibly in pain during this interview. He's an amazing person, and the number of fools that heap hate upon him for his net worth (which is more a measure of his ability than the kind of person he is) is just awful. I hope he is able to have better health in the future, and much less pain. This solar system needs Elon for at least 40 more years.
None of us would have had ever witnessed a ‘rocket factory’. It’s so awesome and mesmerising to witness big dreams taking shape. We were always told ‘it’s rocket science’ to make other person believe that he or she can not comprehend a subject. Here we’ve Ellon, not only giving access to Starbase but flawless explaining a complex set of systems in simpler & digestible capsules; he brilliantly displayed his true belief in Feynman technique. ‘First build the Rocket and then factory around it’ - No one would ever have done that. Perhaps, people like Elon represent next stage in evolution of Homo Sapiens. Learnt a lot of rocket terminology. Stunning job by Tim, who seems to be well versed with Rocket language. Btw, I adore Marvin, little guy is always around Elon; name an Engine after him.

I think I saw only one guy even register his presence as anything but a body to look out for and he looked like a contractor, probably the guy who owns the field service truck in the carpark.

@@JohnnymoeBelsome He has back problems. Sometimes you do strange movements like that to cause some relief. Sports help to prevent that. Running alone ist enough to work all your back stabilizing muscles. Sitting a lot makes those muscles wither away to cause all kinds of pain.
The guy is the true definition of a genius polymath, and humble with it. There would literally be hundreds of specialty fields involved in the rocket making process and he has a handle on all of it. Not to mention they seem to be learning as they go. (Not to mention his knowledge in the electric car business, tunnel boring, etc.) I couldn't follow everything they were saying but I couldn't switch off either. Compulsive viewing.

I mean, this isn't ABC, CBS or NBC, this is a guy with a YT channel and Elon gave an hour plus long tour that isn't going to be seen on network TV or on a channel with 20 or 30 million subs and was very thorough. This host obviously has a lot of knowledge when it comes to rocket propulsion. Evidentially, he's very learned at communicating with a supergenius as well.
Imagine for a moment just how much an hour of Elon's time is worth and how he volunteers it to talk about Space X's operations so candidly. He's such a gift to humanity. And so are you Tim! Thank you for sharing this stuff with us.
I think Elon is a very creative engineer. And he burns for his ideas and his companies. Also think, that he likes it if other are fascinated about "his" products. He does not care about the millions of Dollars, he wants success and follows big dreams. In deed a gift to humanity.

@@georgecarlin2656 You need alot more speed and thrust to get into orbit. Also when you just want to go to space, just fly straight up, but when you want to get into orbit you need to fly at an angle, get the right amount of thrust, etc.

When I was mentoring interns at XCOR, I called it the inverse Socratic method. Every time they asked me questions that made me stop to think, I learned a lot myself. The student-teacher relationship benefits both people _and_ their organization.

Elon picked Tim out a few years ago when Tim asked the only sensible question at the first reveal of the then BFR concept, in Mexico. Elon when went on to lament that the press were hopeless and even some guy on You Tube knew more and did a better job than they did. Then Elon took to wearing the Full Flow T Shirt, so he defiantly started watching Tim's shows ... its been love ever since ...
Elon is the role model for the next generation of engineers. Both Tesla and SpaceX are two top companies engineering students dream about. Stand by for a massive shift in the engineering culture. One thing that I like about Elon is that he’s not reading in his science he is willing to share and show us things that NASA and other facilities that deal in this type of work would never ever show us or at most show us the extreme minimum.
There was somebody who asked him in an interview who the chief engineer was (implying they must be very skilled) and they laughed when he said that he was, so they asked "yeah but who signs off..." and he said "me". He is very talented as far as engineer/businessmen/billionaires go, and surprisingly in touch with reality.
Tim, you did a great job asking questions and letting Elon work through his process. Your questions even prompted some ideas/changes. The mark of a good interviewer.
just stop and realize that the work SpaceX is doing is like science fiction-meets-reality. The pace at which they work leaves people that provide regular coverage literally breathless. It's a freaking beacon of hope to what humans can achieve.

I think he just knows that it would be totally pointless with any kind of news outlet because they wouldnt understand anything they are seeing. They wouldn't know what questions to ask and wouldn't know how to followup any answers even if they were fed questions. And worse, most interviewers would be standing in the middle of rocket parts trying to ask "gotcha" questions about Grimes and Bitcoin and Tesla stock. Because gossip is all they understand.
Tim had earned this with the quality of his questions and his videos, over several years.

Tim is giving Elon feedback that he is being understood. By encouraging him to consider this as a simple conversation with a friend rather than a pronouncement to millions of fans and thousands of detractors he encourages a more candid response. And it's easy to misstime a response while walking and filming in a unique high noise environment.
This is amazing. the CEO takes the time to guide you around and personally explains you the most complex system ever conceived. I cannot imagine anyone except Elon Musk would ever do that. That's why we love him.

@@korona277 The Tony Bruno interview was great, but a lot more things were labeled as ITAR protected or "secret sauce" so we got less details about the design process and considerations (other than the honeycomb milling on the faring which was beautifully explained). The level of detail and explanation in this interview is amazing! It is also really neat to see the stark contrast between an established production line and a prototyping facility.
What amazes me is how unfiltered Elon is. There's no hype, he takes every question on its merits and actually thinks about it, often coming up with new insights, and never falling back on marketing-speak.

Mainstream media already frames all their failures lol. They have a thing against Elon and SpaceX. When SN8 crashed the headlines were “SpaceX Rocket Comes Crashing into the Ground in Wild Failure” or something along those lines, when it literally was just a test in part of the development process.

Those were comments that caught my ear as well, I love the way he thinks! All of these comments come from lessons learned, in life and during Starship development. "If it doesn't blow up, you have to find a place to store it", was probably not something Musk thought of before Starship.

One of the things I like most about Elon Musk is that when someone asks him a question he stops and thinks. And he takes whatever time he needs to answer.
I think that is a very good observation for all of us to take note of. If you just come out with your answer it indicates you didn't think, or must be insanely clever to think that fast. Useful interview technique perhaps. LIke, think before providing a stock answer?
I watched this in real time at the 2019 Tesla Shareholder event. Towards the end one shareholder asked about wether Tesla would be making a car that could convert to a submarine. The audience and board members noticeably chuckled and passed this off as an odd question. Elon paused, thought, then gave a detailed response in which he indicated his love for the idea, as indicated by his purchase of the James Bond Lotus “submarine” and how fun a project it would be to make that real. He then went on to answer that no, Tesla would not likely pursue that Avenue. I was amazed that he took the time to answer what was obviously an uncomfortable question for most in the room.
It really showed his humanity.

That explains why NASA chose Starship HLS for the Artemis moon missions. Nasa is considering scraping SLS. Instead SpaceX would launch astronauts into LEO on Crew Dragon, dock with Starship HLS lunar lander, go to the moon, come back to LEO ... That would involve lot's of unmanned starship tanker launches & recoveries to refuel the HLS. Even Starship HLS would be launched unmanned into LEO. No problem if a few unmanned Starships blow up/burn up in the process.
That eliminates endangering the crew because they would be flying safely on Crew Dragon.

Actually, Elon had multiple Media™ outlets there around that time, and he did a walk-around of the plant, answering questions. Of course, their interviews sucked compared to Tim's, but they did get invites.

I have watched this several times through and 2 things stand out…. #1 it’s unbelievable how much more I glean from one time as opposed to another #2 Tim’s style so works with Elon like nobody else…. Tim gives Elon time to think, time to let his mind wander but also has a feel when it is time to help him move through his thought. So very good.
For a man that is worth over $100 Billion, I am happy to see that he gives some of his time to explain these things to Tim and the YT community for what is essentially free. Can't get a politician to talk to anyone for less than $10k per minute.

I’m a retired tool maker and worked with engineers for 45 years, Elon reminds me of the best ones who had the schooling but learned the most important things from the people who had to build what they designed. I also like that he has a every day Joe persona about him you would never know he is one of the richest men in the world.
He doesn’t act like the richest man in the world because it doesn’t matter to him. It’s just a byproduct of what he actually aspires to. He’s not keeping score by how much money he has. He’s keeping score by if he gets the world to use electric vehicles, or solar energy, or reusable rockets off Earth.

To be fair in contrast to Tim's usual very elaborate and long documentaries with animation, diagrams, schematics this one was rather easy to edit.
The amount of specific engineering knowledge presented here is insane. Engine specs, maneuvering using lift force, heat transfer specifics and fluid dynamics relative to thermal management. Not to mention manufacturing process description and design iteration philosophy. The same goes for part one and three.

Actually, Elon did interviews with multiple media outlets with guided tours of the facility during this same period. I believe NBC was one of the big networks that did one. Of course, their reports suck compared to Tim's, because they're just stupid, lying Media™ "journalists" who haven't a clue what they're looking at or being told.
@@SteveKasian Reporters are expensive. Having one on payroll who is doing nothing is a waste of money. That means that almost all journalists are generalists who go from story to story, without an in-depth subject knowledge. That means that for technical subjects, they fail. Tim has spent a lot of time and money to become knowledgeable on the subject, so his interview obviously goes places the generalist can't.

You know it's a quality interview when it's basically a one-shot. Hardly any editing, just great questions and even better, completely uncut answers. Really appreciate this format.
Some of the awkward silences were edited out. Also interview started when sun was still out to pitch darkness, Elon most likely missed time with his family for the interview.
There are a few cuts. Elon would not have taken this interview if he didn't want to. The timeframe was probably agreed upon. This is not just for RUclips viewers. This is to get information out there, to recruit new talent from the top colleges and universities. And to find these types of people who maybe never went to school. It also informs Investors of what he is doing and shows what their money is going toward.

I gotta admit Tim did an excellent job letting Elon talk, moving on smoothly when he knew a question couldn't be answered, pacing, and sometimes dictating the tour and I'm only halfway through. Pretty impressive juggling act considering how unique this situation is. Great work man.

Could tell that Elon was a bit worn out, but still, especially in this section (maybe because there was less beeping and thus easier to focus) tons of interesting insights and considerations. I love how Tim asks really valid questions and Elon comes up with new ideas on the spot and takes Tim's input and ideas so well.
In times of lousy journalists it is such intellectual pleasure to watch this interview of one of the worlds brightest minds on difficult subject. You really have to appreciate the amount of knowledge of the interviewer Tim to understand Elon’s answers, build on top of these answers and keeping the interview smooth and interesting. Comment to Tim: the first video I watched of yours was you explaining the different rocket engines and fuel, full flow etc. I was certain you were an engineer of some sort. Imagine my surprise when I found that you were a professional photographer who had latched on to a space suit and self educated on rocketry, aero dynamics, sea level vs vacuum engines. Impressive. This conversation with Elon was at times was hard to follow. You did an awesome job of keeping conversation in context and bringing up fine points that indicate how much you know about previous iterations and processes. This s not your first interaction with Elon. I’m happy he values the Everyday Astronaut. You both are so down to earth! Great job.

I really respect Elon, he is actually interested in what is going on around him and what his company is doing rather than just getting money out of it. I've had managers that admit mistakes and take responsibility, but I've never worked anywhere where anyone on the executive team admits they are wrong. I think it is amazing how he pushes through with a three hour long interview like this and is so friendly and approachable during the whole thing (and also taking care of business at the same time) - while he is having horrible back pain and is clearly not feeling good. He was visibly in pain during this interview. He's an amazing person, and the number of fools that heap hate upon him for his net worth (which is more a measure of his ability than the kind of person he is) is just awful. I hope he is able to have better health in the future, and much less pain. This solar system needs Elon for at least 40 more years.

None of us would have had ever witnessed a ‘rocket factory’. It’s so awesome and mesmerising to witness big dreams taking shape. We were always told ‘it’s rocket science’ to make other person believe that he or she can not comprehend a subject. Here we’ve Ellon, not only giving access to Starbase but flawless explaining a complex set of systems in simpler & digestible capsules; he brilliantly displayed his true belief in Feynman technique. ‘First build the Rocket and then factory around it’ - No one would ever have done that. Perhaps, people like Elon represent next stage in evolution of Homo Sapiens. Learnt a lot of rocket terminology. Stunning job by Tim, who seems to be well versed with Rocket language. Btw, I adore Marvin, little guy is always around Elon; name an Engine after him.
He’s a genius and this is an amazing real time historical documentary. I love how his dog follows him and all the employees barely notice his presence.
I think I saw only one guy even register his presence as anything but a body to look out for and he looked like a contractor, probably the guy who owns the field service truck in the carpark.

The guy is the true definition of a genius polymath, and humble with it. There would literally be hundreds of specialty fields involved in the rocket making process and he has a handle on all of it. All levity aside, it's really cool Elon does HOUR LONG tours like this for a guy with a YT channel. I mean, this isn't ABC, CBS or NBC, this is a guy with a YT channel and Elon gave an hour plus long tour that isn't going to be seen on network TV or on a channel with 20 or 30 million subs and was very thorough. This host obviously has a lot of knowledge when it comes to rocket propulsion. Evidentially, he's very learned at communicating with a supergenius as well.

Elon picked Tim out a few years ago when Tim asked the only sensible question at the first reveal of the then BFR concept, in Mexico. Elon is the role model for the next generation of engineers. Both Tesla and SpaceX are two top companies engineering students dream about. Stand by for a massive shift in the engineering culture. It may not happen overnight, but it is slowly happening right before our eyes. This is yet another thing Elon is changing for the better.

One thing that I like about Elon is that he’s not reading in his science he is willing to share and show us things that NASA and other facilities that deal in this type of work would never ever show us or at most show us the extreme minimum.

There was somebody who asked him in an interview who the chief engineer was (implying they must be very skilled) and they laughed when he said that he was, so they asked "yeah but who signs off..." and he said "me". He is very talented as far as engineer/businessmen/billionaires go, and surprisingly in touch with reality.
