There's a lot more hang time. On earth, if one of those RC thrusters on the top is sticking out more than the others by a hair, Earth's gravity, ironically, will not be so forgiving.
      Not to mention the fact that the calibration on the main thruster as well as the RCS is incredibly precise to not only drastically reduce re-entry velocity but also maneuver a cylindrical unmanned craft into the supporting structure of a launch pad. Its some Star Wars shit my guy

    The boring but important test afterwards was being able to remount the booster on the launch mount and test the connector reconnecting to the booster which would in the future be used to refuel and theoretically be ready to launch again in an hour. If they can have a launch cadence like that, the cost of launching heavy payloads into space would drop dramatically making dreams of what we could do in space that died after the Apollo and Space Shuttle missions into eventual reality.

      I'm sorry, why is it such a big deal that they caught a rocket booster? Does it save them money or what? I didn't know the reentery of rocket boosters was ever a problem.

    • @CanisoGaming
      @CanisoGaming Месяц назад +1

      @@Gerald-ky1sq re entry & reuse of a rocket booster was never done until SpaceX started trying to make it a reality back in 2010-2015 (their first successful rocket landing was in 2015/2016 I don't remember exactly. But yes that saves a TON of money because every launch costs millions & the rockets usually just get either sent straight to the ocean or left in space to desintegrate without causing damage to anything on earth. This rocket landing thing that they started since 2015 has enabled the US & NASA to be able to start sending their astronauts straight from the US (not having to work with Russia to send them), so yes it is a huge deal.
      The rocket booster that they were able to land so far was much smaller than this one & only used for Falcon 9 rocket which is mostly used for carrying equipment to the ISS or 4 man crews etc. this rocket on the other hand is designed to take A LOT more people into orbit/other planets that's why they are working on making it fully reusable (there are also potential plans to use it to replace planes (country to country travel, not just space), its speed will turn the 12 hour flights into 30 minutes travel at the longest. That is why this booster landing success is such a big deal. Oh yeah & let's not forget the future moon landing (contracted by NASA) supposed to be happening in 2026 or later which will use this rocket
      Again, the only company able to land rockets (in such a consistent manner while at it) is SpaceX = saving millions per flight, which is why they are now getting pretty much all space contracts 😂

  • @violetmagic13
    @violetmagic13 6 дней назад +1

      NASA has a yearly budget of 25 billion.
      The only reason they could spend 5 billion and still not do it is because of the fat cat senior managers who use the other 20 billion to line their pockets.
      NASA can't even launch astronauts into space anymore.

      That's a stretch, but it is certainly the most impressive feat & advancement of rocket technology ever. Remember though, the real stuff being develop by Lockheed, Northrup, etc . is like an actual frickin spaceship from star wars, uses antigrav tech, but they don't talk about it, except in Hollywood movies of course. Nevertheless this is impressive engineering in its own right.

      @@queitn6287Yes but that is still an excuse, Einstein was considered dumb as a child and I know many many super successful people that are less educated than high school students. I know successful people who didn’t even go to school and learn to read or write really so anything is possible here in America, all of us have the potential and freedom to be what we want to be.
