Love that you know that the sewing, including quilt squares, and art will sell and it does not get tossed! The Peacock wall hangings are back and will sell. Funny. Alex knows the vintage stockings will sell too.
The box of "craft stuff' with a quilt piece on top is special. The top was a Cathedral Window square & I have searched for years for the pattern. The quilt is totally made by hand sewing, Each square is a 'window' with rolled, finished edges. When the squares are finished, they are handsewn together to completely finish the quilt. It is more like a comforter than a quilt and a handmade one sells for thousands of dollars. Please don't discard the box but put it up for auction.
Those Italian scissors are probably dress making shears....for cutting the cloth for the quilts. I recommend that you put all of the crafting stuff together( box lots) for sale. Omg! That huge quilting frame( or loom) and spinning wheel in the attic! If only I lived closer; I'd help you clear out stuff. Pay me in stuff for the help. Win -win. I will be moving to Thorsby in the near future. J/s
So true... I was introduced to Alex and family with The Potter House series, back in 2021, after it originally aired in its entirety. I was very sick, and in ICU for a week, then in a step down unit for another before being transferred to a rehab facility for 3 more weeks. I, like so many others, fell in love with them all, and have since started buying/selling antique/vintage items at auction. Doing so has been part of my recovery from nearly losing my life back then. This year has been rough. 2024 has seen me break a leg in 3 places, need surgery on it to put a plate & screws in there, then discover I had an infection on the plate, but needed more surgery on my elbow/wrist to try to reverse nerve damage caused by crutches, then surgery #3 to remove the hardware from my ankle, and I only just got out of a 6 day hospital stay after a 3rd surgery to remove infection from the bone in my ankle. And none of that counts three other ER visits, including one that saw me admitted for a different 4 day stay. What a welcome site - a new series from Alex, Melissa and family to watch while I'm recuperating again. Once healed enough, I'll be holding an auction locally to help raise funds for a new free public radio station starting up in our community, donating the items to be auctioned, in addition to whatever other things people may want to donate. The Archbolds are inspirational. They are like visiting old friends, kindred spirits... My heart is content.
PLEASE give the second jacket to Josh. It suited him and I think he did not want to take it........surprise him with it. Sooooooo much fun to have Josh in the video!!!!!!
I could tell she was a quilter from your last video. That blue and white quilted fabric in the box is a Cathedral Window quilt. Takes LOTS of time to make. I couldn't tell how big it was but that is a lot of work right there.
When Melissa and Alex get behind the camera separately in house clearings, it’s so interesting to see the things that catch Melissa’s eye and pique her curiosity that Alexander might totally pass by, and vice versa. I love Alex’s tastes and perspectives, mind you, and have learned so much from him. It’s just always interesting to see the differing things that draw their attention. A Mars and Venus thing, I guess, LOL.
When I cleaned out my parents’ house in 2020, I found a little wicker chest on top of the kitchen cupboards, Inside were a bunch of dry mixes. One was a Dream Whip packet that expired in 1977. 😂
I loved Melissa cam. It gave us a chance to see some of the things Alexander isn't really interested in, but made my eyes light up - like all the crafts, sewing notions, quilting etc.
Yeah! I always love Alexander's walk-throughs and box openings, but I was the little boy doing origami and papercraft, and now I have a ton of crafty hobbies, including knitting, crochet, spinning, sewing, woodworking... I even turned a spare bedroom into a fiber arts craftroom. I love hoards of craft supplies, and digging through them, so I kept saying "Wait, Alex, go back!"😆 I was excited when Melissa took us back through for a deeper look.
I agree with Josh that the first jacket was a “no”. It looked a little too small to me. At least the pockets seem to fit a little too high on him and the jacket just seemed a bit short. I think it could have even been a women’s jacket. The other one was a great fit.
Hi there! When I was poor and wanted to keep sewing my quilts and embroideries, I used to rummage through thrift stores for supplies. I bought everything from needles, threads, fabrics - everything there. I bought my clothes and altered them. Please donate all the sewing supplies you can’t sell to thrift stores for folk like me. I can buy new now, I still buy my vintage & old lace & doilies there - and stuff for the garden. Love your videos, I’m sitting sewing as I watch! 😊😊😊
The stockings are for the faces in the cardboard box. I remember dolls and old people dolls made that way. So good to see Josh . old spices.....definitely in my cupboard. Lol
I found a hilarious thread once about outdated spices. Someone was given her grandmother's spice rack when she went off to college. Eventually she replaced the some and was astonished to find out that cinnamon was suppose to have flavour and ginger was hot!
So excited to watch this series. Good to see Melissa, Abigail and Josh in today's vlog. Loved seeing pictures of the heyday of the house and how well maintained it was then. You could see the crafter was also a very organized person. Thank you for been so respectful to the family.
Love the Melissa cam additions, Good to see you Josh, The second jacket looked good on you! Alex, That box of old people heads was hilarious!!❤❤ We so enjoy these house clean outs.
Alex, save your back, get a dolly to move those heavy boxes. Thanks for the walk through and good to see Joshua. Appreciate you trying to use or donate as much as possible. Thanks for sharing.
I will purchase the yarn. I make hats for the local food pantries..I'm taking in 2 huge bags in today..actually.. I've been doing this for 3 years now...and love doing it!❤ I've been subbed to you guys for many years now. BEAUTIFUL family!
I love that every Canadian home has a craft room . . . in the U.K. we seem to have lost the love for crafting. I know that some people here still 'have a go' but you guys are the champs.
I thought the first jacket Josh tried on looked awesome! Didn’t see it in person, so maybe the material or something detracted, but it sure looked VERY retro-cool in the video. Shouldn’t’ve passed on that, Josh!
the round pencil sharpener is a pencil POINTER. there is sandpaper inside, and it takes your lead down to a very fine point. architects used to use them.
Definitely, its for drafting pencils that have thick leads, you extend the lead and stick the pencil in the hole in the top and rotate the top of the sharpener around. Poof, you lead is ground down to a fine point. I still have on here in my desk....old school cartographer from the 80s-90s.
I am presently emptying my parents home of 55 years. Dad is 96 and Mum passed 7 years ago. It is a very emotional experience and I can hear Mum saying how wasteful I am but I have my own house over flowing. The house has been fairly straight forward tip, op shop and a very small percentage I have kept. Next to tackle is Dad's garage/ shed! Dad is not a hoarder but my word what a huge job this will be. I am hiring a skip and my children and grandchildren will help. I am on my own with my only sibling passing last year. I know why families call people in to clear their families houses just like you are doing. I am my fathers full time carer and the house is 100 klms away from me so not an easy task. I enjoy watching you but not enjoying in reality me doing exactly the same.
I went through this a few years ago with my sister's house. My nephew and I donated as much as we could wherever it seemed suitable. His dad was a mechanic who had loads of stuff he intended to fix. The scrap metal paid for the dumpsters we needed.
All your followers, being Curiosity Incorporated LOVE these clear out vlogs! God Bless the Potter and the Piano Lady, they have us hooked! God Bless too, the good folk that vacated this lovely property! Nice too when the family become involved and can help you! ❤ XXX
😂 Princess Leia's buns, creepy but man did I laugh! 😂 Like everyone feels, it's such a nice reprieve from the chaos we go thru, watching the house clear out. Hey, Josh! So beautiful that you bring him in to score some "treasure"...jackets looked great on him! We love you guys!❤
Hope Alex gives the two jackets to Josh...they were made for him and I think he really wanted them, esp second one. He just did not want to take a sale away from Alex.
I believe the "Pencil Sharpener" is actually a "Lead Pointer". You place your drafting mechanical lead holder pencil into the hole and rotate it and it sharpens the lead. I used one many years ago.
I was hoping this video would come out today: 11/06. Those of us down south can use a bit of cheerful wholesome content to distract us from our apocalypse.
Alex,Melissa,Abbeygale, and Josh. You have a house full of treasures. A lot for different social organizations to help the community. You will get more than what you paid. A lot of sorting and organizing ahead of you. Until next time. Please, take care and stay safe. Love ya 🍺🍺🍺🥤🙏🕊❤️🌈👍🌞😇🌹🇺🇸
Thank you for uploading today Alex. Every presidential election no matter the actual result we Americans all hold our breaths and let our blood pressure rise. So this is a nice way to bring it back down. Loved seeing more Melissa!
When you showed the crafting stuff with yarn and pantyhose I immediately thought of those soft sculpture faces. I guess you know what era I’m from. I loved when you were going through the box and you said you had to be careful and not get stabbed by scissors, then you pulled out a pair of childrens safety scissors.😂 The brass faucets can be pretty pricey, along with those expensive garden trowels.
Absolute crafter's dream, there is a good amount of money spent there, and I am sure for resale also, Melissa and Abigale are plowing through that kitchen area, lots of clocks, patiently waiting on part #3 thanks guys.
Wow, that’s a lot of work! You guys are very respectful of other things. Great job so nice to see Melissa and Abigail too and Josh of course don’t work too hard. Alexander don’t need to be getting sick before the holidays.❤
It is great how much you help you friends...I would check the flatware before welding it into a project...I just mailed out a set today that sold for $300. Onieda flatware is hot.
at 5:04, that is a lead pointer. It's like a pencil sharpener, but used by pencil and paper drafters to put a point on the lead in their lead holder. It's like a pencil sharpener, but when you don't have a wood pencil.
That metal pencil sharpener. My dad was an architect and he had special metal holders in which he clipped little strips of lead. The sharpener made a very fine point, finer than any point you could make on a wood pencil.
I am here for the clean out :) I love your thoughtful touches when cleaning out peoples homes... it is heart warming and such a great service to loved ones.
Sweet that you set aside perfonal items. Very sad.. .looks like someone got sick and they had to walk away. You are all so considerate in these walk rhroughs. Great show.
This is a good home for resellables Not much for the garbage You could use the dolly to stack all the boxes of books on to take to the trailer Easier than taking one box at a time I see alot of things I would like I haven't seen the brown Pyrex before I used to have an etch- a - sketch about 60 years ago Wow how time flies💖💚💜🇨🇦🦩 Stay Happy 💫✨🌟✨
That’s a great house . Just needs a “refresh”. It sits on a nice piece of land too . The owners left tons of stuff behind . Enjoyed Melissa Cam. The next time you find artificial flowers , I’ve seen people who do clean outs , put them on graves . Random or someone they knew .
Thanks Melissa, it is interesting to have you do a walk thru as well as Alex. Always a pleasure to get your perspective on things.
That's why I'm here, too.
Me too.
Love Alex walk through's but this was great to have Melissa's input and see more. May add to the business because if she likes it, many more will.
Love that you know that the sewing, including quilt squares, and art will sell and it does not get tossed! The Peacock wall hangings are back and will sell. Funny. Alex knows the vintage stockings will sell too.
Garden statues sell for high prices in US....maybe try to sell??
The box of "craft stuff' with a quilt piece on top is special. The top was a Cathedral Window square & I have searched for years for the pattern. My step-daughter collects primitive quilts. Cathedral quilts are her favorites. 😊
GREAT to see Josh! “Pottery House” memories!

That is funny. I would probably find some really old smoothie packets in my mom's kitchen cabinets lol 😂.
I loved Melissa cam. It gave us a chance to see some of the things Alexander isn't really interested in, but made my eyes light up - like all the crafts, sewing notions, quilting etc.
Yeah! Yeah he kinda skips over things he's not interested in,sadly. I often see something interesting and then oops, it's out of frame.
The nylon stockings were used to make the soft sculpture heads that tripped you and Abigail out.
The decorative box you found in the nylon heads box is very much like boxes I have from Poland in the 70s and 80s
Jacket fit Josh perfectly!
A cool guy working outside would wear it.
Yes, I do like both on him.
I agree with Josh that the first jacket was a “no”. It looked a little too small to me. At least the pockets seem to fit a little too high on him and the jacket just seemed a bit short. I think it could have even been a women’s jacket. The other one was a great fit.

I was just checking to see who else remembered those 😄
Oh, right!!!
When they get four or five years out of date, I just use twice as much.
I have a jar of ground cloves that I bought in 1967. not even half used. They still smell just as fresh as when I first opened them.
Nice to see Josh. Loved Melissa's look from her side. Nice helpers again today. Hope you are able to get rid of those nasty hornets!
That Elna sewing machine is a classic. Love it!
He can resell that for about $200
Love the easy friendship you and Josh have 🥰
I enjoy how these clean out videos take me away from my day for awhile…thanks…nice to see everyone 🌻hugs from Michigan 🍁
After the last day, I needed this. I love watching you guys do a whole house!
Ditto!
I was just going to say the same thing!!!
Those are my favs as well
Love the Melissa cam additions, Good to see you Josh, The second jacket looked good on you! Alex, That box of old people heads was hilarious!!❤❤ We so enjoy these house clean outs.
Thank you. Ruff day for me. Watched your family, started smiling. Forgot my issues. Please keep sending joy to the world.
OMG Josh needs that coat 100%. It's so him!
This is fun. After the American elections, this is a breath of fresh air. Thanks Alex and family for doing this.
That’s for sure! 😊 from Atlanta GA
That's for sure😊
❤Loved the outcome!
I hear ya I am still traumatized over it
Great to see Josh! Love his channel, too.
Alex, save your back, get a dolly to move those heavy boxes. Thanks for the walk through and good to see Joshua. Appreciate you trying to use or donate as much as possible. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah - remember you found a whole bunch of substantial dollies in an outbuilding.
Lots of fun stuff!! Great to see Josh! You two have such a funny repore !! ❤❤❤
Appreciate the Melissa cam. You show us all the pretty things! 😅
Great job by everyone. Nice to see Josh, and Abigail’s beautiful face once again a mini Melissa. 😊 Yvette
I will purchase the yarn. I make hats for the local food pantries..I'm taking in 2 huge bags in today..actually.. I've been doing this for 3 years now...and love doing it!❤
I've been subbed to you guys for many years now. BEAUTIFUL family!
Please tell Josh that the first Jacket looked perfect on him!!!
My brother collected crocks and they can be very valuable. We had those metal peacocks back in the day. What a nice visit down memory lane.
House clean outs are my favorite videos you do Alex. The potters house was the best!!
You are doing a great job cleaning out the house. Thank you for donating so many things instead of throwing it away. God bless and have a great day
I love that every Canadian home has a craft room . . . in the U.K. we seem to have lost the love for crafting. I know that some people here still 'have a go' but you guys are the champs.

Great project and great to see Josh too. Second jacket looked best on him. Hi Melissa! Love the house clear ups~
Loved the Princess Lea buns hairdo for Josh🤓
the round pencil sharpener is a pencil POINTER. there is sandpaper inside, and it takes your lead down to a very fine point. architects used to use them.
Keep comments like these coming! I love learning what antiques and vintage items are ❤
Definitely, its for drafting pencils that have thick leads, you extend the lead and stick the pencil in the hole in the top and rotate the top of the sharpener around. Poof, you lead is ground down to a fine point. I still have on here in my desk....old school cartographer from the 80s-90s.
That would be a mechancial lead holder sharpener, ie drafting pencil. There isn’t sandpaper inside that sharpen the lead.
nice to see Josh, hope he comes back to get more things. You guys are doing a good job so far.
That snowblower! Congrats on that. I trust this will be a huge success for you Alex 💟
Love seeing Josh! 👏👏

Sending good vibes!

Think so, too @@dianavanderclute4322
You're making good progress. Enjoyed getting Melissa and Abigail perspectives. Glad you avoided the hornets last episode. 😅
Your daughter is so adorable. It was so nice to see her and interacting today.👍🏻😊
so happy to see this type of video again , they are why I subscribed. Keep up the good work. So many amazing finds.
Loved Josh recording. So much better than one hand!
I actually had that woody woodpecker book when I was a little kid . I'm 57 now .
The yarn is jute. It is for doing macrame. It’s pretty expensive in the US. The heads are made with all those nylons. Pretty talented crafter.
I believe the "Pencil Sharpener" is actually a "Lead Pointer". You place your drafting mechanical lead holder pencil into the hole and rotate it and it sharpens the lead. I used one many years ago.
I thought it could be an ink well for a calligraphy pen
That jacket looks like it belongs on Josh! Very stylish and perfect fit! Enjoyed the video!
Small boxes for books, like milk crate size, wont injure mist people
I really like Melissa's view on things!
Love watching you and your family go through house nice seeing josh looking well
I was hoping this video would come out today: 11/06. Those of us down south can use a bit of cheerful wholesome content to distract us from our apocalypse.
I cried this morning for you. I know a lot of vulnerable people through various forums.
Love that back staircase from the garage to the attic! almost as lux in my mind as an entry into the cellar from the garage!
even teen kids are curious
Great 2nd video. Love seeing Josh! You guys are great together.
Always great to see Melissa helping out. Hope Josh can find some useful stuff as he always seems under supplied (LOL).
My mom did a really good Woody the Woodpecker. I never could. She also did a good Tarzan yell. Thanks for poking the memory up!
I can't unhear that now......
That first jacket Josh put on looked great
Thank you, Melissa for videoing other items in the house! I really enjoyed it! I love dishes and knick knacks!
Those fabric heads, we used to make those in school and put them in jars. We called them "pickled people"
Wow! Great house. Great stuff. JACKPOT!😊
I would love to go thru the old sewing stuff there!
I like that you guys put both of your perspectives in the video! ☺️☺️☺️
Always interesting.....I love seeing your adventures, cleaning out contents from a house. You always find treasures. :)
The pantihose people brought back big memories 😂😂.
Omgerd. They freaked me out in the 1970s, and they freak me out now!
Love these clear out video's ❤ Thank you Melissa for showing us some other stuff to, the more the better 😅
There are some super great mid century and 1970s stuff in that house - treasures! Wall art, woven hangings, etc.
I kept wanting to get a better look at the woven wall hangings
Nice to see Josh!
I LOVE an Alex & Josh clean out!
Clleanouts are always so exciting as you never know what you will find. Keep Safe❤Keep Well❤
Love watching your videos for a long time now. You are my favorite You Tuber by far! Melissa, we miss your videos too! :)
LOVE THE house and most of the contents
I always enjoy these vlogs going through houses with lots of stuff.
Those brass peacocks brought back a memory, my Gran and Grandads house in the 70’s and 80’s, they had some with the coloured tail feathers.
So much work, ugh! I really loved those hand made faces! They are terrific!
Im so glad you are so cool and still help out Josh! You guys are my kind of people.
Good job with the camera Melissa!
35:26 what a kick! My mom has the same poppy picture in her room. My brother bought it for her when he was 10. She's 98 and he's 65.🤣
at 5:04, that is a lead pointer. It's like a pencil sharpener, but used by pencil and paper drafters to put a point on the lead in their lead holder. It's like a pencil sharpener, but when you don't have a wood pencil.
RE Lee Valley: in your last video in the unfinished room above the garage, there was an expensive beautiful Lee Valley gardening journal. 😍
That metal pencil sharpener. My dad was an architect and he had special metal holders in which he clipped little strips of lead. The sharpener made a very fine point, finer than any point you could make on a wood pencil.
I really love garden statues, Shepherd hooks just yard stuff in general.
Your channel is always so comforting. These series are my favourite.
I always think these look like they would be fun to do. Then I realize I should just work on doing the same thing to my own house 😂
Me too. *sigh* Me too.
OMG the nylon heads are amazing.
Great show.
A friend used to pick up all old vintage boxed hosiery...said sold very well to collectors.
