loved this video very informative. could you talk more about the template you used when you first started off that allowed you to make sure you asked all proper questions when bedside? i would love to see it or know the questions you had on the template- thank you!
Please talk about medical social work pay. What to expect right after graduation financially. Also how to get a job in medical social work please. Thank you!
I just found your channel. Thank you for this video. I am an MSW graduate and I want to apply for Medical social work positions. However, I would like to become an LCSW eventually. Were you able to earn you required hours as a medical social worker? Please let me know. I am located in CA and i am unsure what roles would allow me to meet the required hours. Thank you!
Thank you for your support! Each state has different requirements on what they will consider count towards supervision hours of your LCSW. For example, Kansas does not typically recognize medical social work to count towards ours and less a specific plan is developed to show how it meets criteria. On the other hand, in Missouri, medical social work absolutely qualifies towards LCSW supervised hours. I looked at the California board of behavioral sciences breakdown of required experience that you can find at: www.bbs.ca.gov/pdf/forms/lcs/lcs_exp_chart.pdf It appears that you can use medical social work hours towards your supervision. As long as you can explain the experience type. I can tell you that in pretty much any medical social work job, you will have clinical and non-clinical experience that you can use towards your supervision requirements.
I can't thank you enough! I am a BSW student in my fourth year and want to become an LCSW eventually. I wanted to do micro-clinical social work and provide therapy for sexually abused adolescents. Still, I am also a former psych nurse, and my heart has always been in nursing, so I am torn as to which direction to go. I am leaning toward a hospital medical social worker. Could you do a video or answer this question regarding the best kind of master's program for hospital social work? My concern is that I need to pick the right program. To be qualified and hired as a hospital social worker, do they look at what type of master's program you attended. For example, I am deciding whether to enter the master's in clinical mental health counseling program or MSW (Master of Social Work).
I can certainly address this in a future video. If you would like more immediate consultation, feel free to email me! I'm happy to answer your questions.
Social workers have many different roles in many different settings. So it depends. In a hospital setting, they are not necessarily counselors, although they do provide some supportive counseling/ therapy as needed to patients.

You get into the health field, you'll meet turf issues. "Counselors" are not usually recognized by others.
I dont see your newletter. Help?
Are social workers like counsellors?

@@socialworkmastery thank you!!
Very informative thank you. Can you do a video about interviewing for a hospital social work job? Some of the questions they may ask.
Yes! I'll work on that 😊
