    • @SLcustomsMinis

      Matthew Chandler i quite like the kit and the rotation of the engine both have pros and cons this kit came with a pretty hefty LSD too. The guy who originally designed the kit has sold the rights now so expect the kits to be readvertised in the near future

    • @matthewchandler2647
      @matthewchandler2647 5 лет назад

      SLcustoms Minis Yiur buildblooks great by the way. I’d think Lynx would have less drivetrain loss than the pro-motive. Is your reverse an electric motor or does the kit use Quaife’s sealed chain-drive with reverse mechanism?

    • @SLcustomsMinis
      @SLcustomsMinis  5 лет назад +1

      Matthew Chandler it runs direct from the engine output gear straight to the diff assembly so should be minimum losses I’ll post up the rolling road once I’ve done it. A lot going on here atm but hopefully in the next month or so

  • @fw1421
    @fw1421 5 лет назад +1

    I’m sure an R1 motor has way more Hp than the original Mini engine but I imagine you have all that power hp high in the rev band,which is fine with a light bike but a car needs Torque down low. Not a swap I would consider.

    • @SLcustomsMinis
      @SLcustomsMinis  5 лет назад +3

      fw1421 cheers buddy I appreciate your comment this has been built for racing so all high end revs it’s not something I would consider for a road going car.
      The big advantages for me were the cheapness of the engine and box
      A 6 speed dog box and 60kgs lighter than the mini engine.

      Original Mini 1000 had 40bhp. The 1275 had 65bhp. A race tuned 1275 bored and stoked to 1380 could make 120bhp. 5 speed straight cut boxes were also fitted. The R1 was probably a great deal cheaper to do and probably more reliable as well.
      BTW hope you have an output shaft support on the R1 gearbox. As standard it's not built to handle the grip of two racing slicks. (bike tyres will give up long before a pair of car tyres)

      Slcustoms minis 2016 R1 is 73lbft of torque from the factory, a factory k20 on hondata, headgasket, head studs, on 10psi will make 300 plus lbft and will weigh maybe 40 pounds more. But the K on rwd will not have bump steer and will pull much harder through corners. Bring your minis to Spring Mountain Raceway we do a little racing out here lol.

      Jason Hall 😂😂 it’s only 160bhp and 500kgs we don’t tend to use the rear brakes as it’s too light on the back anyway and tyres are all todo with that right foot, mad maybe lol

    • @zane1os
      @zane1os 5 лет назад +2

      Only approx 20% of the braking is on the rear. There is rarely a need for discs on the rear. Ask any mechanic and he'll tell you that most cars coming in for a service have rusty rear discs as they are never used to their full potential.
