The last 30 seconds of this fight epitomises what Ali was all about, he knew he just had to finish to win. Yet after absorbing all Shavers bombs, being way past his best and not in the best of shape he still went for the KO when the opportunity arose.
He is the Greatest of all times!

That's because Liston and Foreman couldn't hit the younger, faster, quicker Ali. If Shavers fought Ali in 1964-1967 or even 1974 Shavers wouldn't have been able to hit Ali either.

Ali added a whole new level to the psychological tactic of “When you’re strong act weak and when you’re weak act strong”.
Ali added “When you’re weak act even more weak so they’ll think that you’re baiting them” 😂🤣
They think he’s baiting them so they’ll say to themselves “I’m not falling for that old trick, I’m gonna hang back a bit”.

The Prime 1960s Fastest Moving Ali would have destroyed the 1977 Young and Shavers much quicker and much more swifter. Unfair because the biggest punchers who faced Ali when Ali was years past his Prime Peak in my humble opinion was before he was banned from Boxing because he refused the Draft. No one not even Dempsey, Tunney, Louis , Marciano, Foreman, Holmes, Holyfield and Lewis in their prime could have defeated that Ali.

This was the fight that damaged him. Prior to the fight, he was himself. The punishment he took all fight was brutal, but some of those shot toward the end of the fight would have stopped a train. By the end of the fight, he wasn't the same and the effect was completely evident.
