Very good duel! Also, I am positive 125 will not be the meta when people realize the caps in this game. Below I will list a few builds that can play with 120, some at 120, 125, and 133, all are viable, and work very well. Magic stats at 133 so it can play with both groups that works and lets you use the spell that needs 70 int, and have a lot of fp so you can magic spam, and use moonveil, and have good health, all without talismans, just use talismans and try to get better endurance and health. 50 vigor, 30 mind, 10 endurance, 18 strength, 18 dex, 70 intelligence. You can also lower to 60 if you don't want moon, you can get rid of some health or another stat if you don't want to be at 133 but want 120/125. My strength build template for 125 is 60 vigor, 25 endurance, 66 strength, 18 dex. Add rings to it and you can have even more carry weight if needed, more health, more stamina, more fp, or whatever since there is a talisman or armor for that. For quality I would also say 60 vigor, 25 endurance, 40 strength, 40 dex, puts you at 121, so you have some room to level something else also. Now the confusion and doubt now set in because he doesn't know what the mage will do. And ultimately led to his demise. Fantastic psychological battle.
I adore melee spells in this game. Spells like Carian Slicer and Greatsword can rack up powerful damage or stagger. Of course, not to discount the phalanx spells. Nothing says “mage” quite like powerful set up spells.
It’s nice to be able to have strong close range magic like that after putting 75% of my points into INT, nothing worse than getting instantly deleted close range with no way to defend
Slicer is so nice. Make them think you’re a pure caster then whip out the slicer and do a quick 900 damage. Throws them off a lot. Also it’s amazing for roll catching.
i don’t really like it since i play hybrid, i feel like since range is so good at least outside of pvp that the carian spells shouldn’t exist when you have scholars
That's a Spellblade! and yeah the moonlight katana or whatever is also a great and fast weapon. Pretty easy to pick up as well, 10/10! Loved the fact that neither used a single health potion at the end, very honoraburu.
As a player new to From Soft games (played very little lf the others and none of most) I didnt know the PvP rules, everyone I fought was using flasks so i did too, but now i dlnt if they dont I just wasnt informed 😅
How is anyone suppose to know this tho? I didn't know till I fought someone and they told me not too, which I guess is how word is getting around but its not an obvious rule so 🤷
I'm an elite tier dark souls 3 PVP player and I think this is a toxic garbage opinion. Even though I'm usually always the invader, so I have half your Estus and my health cut by 30% automatically, I still far and away prefer a dual where both parties are free to heal, it's far more dynamic and interesting, and if you can learn your opponent quickly it gives you a huge advantage. It's just much more complex and fun, and people like you trying to arbitrarily press this ridiculous no healing rule on other people is misguided and flat wrong.
Melee mages are so damn dangerous in this game atleast with regular builds you know what weapon you're dealing with with these mages it could be projectiles close range sword attacks aerial bombardments and enchanted long range cutting attacks

This was an awesome matchup. A strong melee focus opponent who can utilize a couple range attacks, vs a skilled spellsword who excels at range but isn't afraid to get in close to deal some damage if need be, not to mention the fight itself was really close. This is what I love most about Elden Ring's build variety. Not the crazy broken strats that exploit oversights made by the devs, but rather the variety in different builds with different strength and weaknesses that can still make for great matchups as long as the skill and knowledge is there.
Yeah his use of the weapon to bait you was really good, he would hold and do the wide one instead of the narrow one. You also had some really tight rolls and had a good idea for stamina management. I can’t wait for the PvP scene to pick up in this game like in ds3
Holy shit. The mental fortitude it must've taken for him to not just Moonveil that fine bit of health away is praiseworthy. What SL is this? 125? That seems really low for how crazy the levels in this game seem to be getting.
But if you go higher, then there's no trade off between going full damage or not. Everyone will be full damage and at the same time have very high armor and HP.

They know what's up! I loved when he/she held the charge attack letting u panic using stamina anticipating the release then boom perfect hit. Was great to see the fight, love close call fights.
Two years later, 3:04 AM the Caribbean, 20/4/2024... I saw the type of mage that I hope more mage players try to become one day. Is hard to see that type of mages nowadays.
Hard disagree. Allowing both sides to heal gives both parties a chance to learn the other person's play style and creates far more nuance, also opening up room for buulds that take advantage of healing spells. Who are you to say an entire class of build shouldn't be used?
I honestly wish people were just more open minded to pvp in whatever form it takes. The pvp community (at least from what I take from the comments under videos like this) in general seems to always have very strict and very narrow ideals of what fights need to be like and I don't really see the fun in that. I love pvp in souls games and Elden Ring because of the mobs interfering, the different terrain and weapon styles, being able to invade and drag people through catacomb traps or brawling with two reds, two yellows and two blues. People need to enjoy the chaos more. EDIT: I should say, I WISH they would enjoy the chaos more. They don't need to.
You know they know what they're doing when you don't see two of their spells until the end of the duel. Who knows what else this mage had up his sleeve.
yeah, usually one of the two is using something that'll one shot the other person though, this is the extreme outlier. sucks that 90% of your 30 second fights in pvp in elden ring, is running around, and waiting for a one shot attack, so you can counter with your one shot attack.

At 1:24, the mage ran towards him. With the mage established as a melee expert too, he expected a slash but was met with a spell instead. Now the confusion and doubt now set in because he doesn't know what the mage will do. And ultimately led to his demise.
Fantastic psychological battle.
The guy playing: AHHHHH SPAMM
The mage: fuck, the wrong command
One of the best uses of swift glintstone, it's seriously fast and can be used jumping and running, haha.

He may be using the meta stick but I can respect him getting in there a few times at least and not doing the whole thing with spells.

That's an awesome duel. That person really knew how to utilize a mage build.
Appreciate it
That's a Spellblade!
and yeah the moonlight katana or whatever is also a great and fast weapon.

Good to see that there are still some decent people out there who respect the no healing rule in PvP.
As a player new to From Soft games (played very little lf the others and none of most) I didnt know the PvP rules, everyone I fought was using flasks so i did too, but now i dlnt if they dont I just wasnt informed 😅
I use them if they summon buddies. Sometimes I’m fighting someone, and then another helper arrives
How is anyone suppose to know this tho? I didn't know till I fought someone and they told me not too, which I guess is how word is getting around but its not an obvious rule so 🤷
@@DJkazma66 it's pretty much a non-spoken rule that's been around for a long time, much like bowing before the duel.
Mage may be one of the best pvp builds so far
what about faith :( why no faith katana ?
@@burnersforhim deal with it bro. Faiths got the cool shit, sorcerers got the practical shit, and melee has the most busted shit or viable shit

I went from melee to moonveil and staff to moonveil and moonblade. Strange combo I know but it looks sick.
He making a respectful emote at the end is actually wholesome imo.
Wooow ! I'm not a PvP lover but, this duel is memorable !
Two people who use all their capacities, no spamming and... so close !
Yeah his use of the weapon to bait you was really good, he would hold and do the wide one instead of the narrow one. You also had some really tight rolls and had a good idea for stamina management. I can’t wait for the PvP scene to pick up in this game like in ds3

Hard disagree. Allowing both sides to heal gives both parties a chance to learn the other person's play style and creates far more nuance, also opening up room for buulds that take advantage of healing spells. Who are you to say an entire class of build shouldn't be used?

One of the better pvps ive seen loving the look of both builds here
I honestly wish people were just more open minded to pvp in whatever form it takes.
Yeah I much prefer scrappy invasions, duels can be nice too though and feel very satisfying winning against a similarly skilled player.
You know they know what they're doing when you don't see two of their spells until the end of the duel. Who knows what else this mage had up his sleeve.
That’s what I imagined Elden Rings PVP to be like. Two players running around and dodging their attacks for 5 minutes 😂
yeah, usually one of the two is using something that'll one shot the other person though, this is the extreme outlier. sucks that 90% of your 30 second fights in pvp in elden ring, is running around, and waiting for a one shot attack, so you can counter with your one shot attack.

I was expecting the pvp in elden ring to be more frenetic, but it's the same two guys running around for 30 seconds until one tries to hit, and then the other tries to punish and then it's over

Im glad the game kinda exploded and got the best numbers from soft has ever seen but holy shit the new people are cancer.
