💯
Good cars were made illegal there?
@@TopiasSalakka well they are very high on tax (this would be around 150 euro a month) and they aren't allowed in most cities so they gradually disappeared. Sometimes a really nice example will be imported but too expensive to justify the downsides :( so, basically illegal ;)
Oh I recognize that road! It's the route from Kiruna towards Narvik. I drove there when I went to Nordkapp in September 2024 and want to go again in the winter sometime.
How do old cars handle really low temperatures? Any starting or power steering problems? Do they salt the roads in this sort of cold? I heard salt isn't very effective at these sort of temps. Are studded tires widely used?
Below -12°C salt can't be used on the roads.
Would be nice to see cold start of this Merc in -40C 😅
I wanna know how is that our ancestors arrived to such places and though, oh yeah this weather is lovely to settle in.
Cute doggy :3
Great video. The dog is so cute. 😊 what a great car. I wonder about is it better to have a patrol engine in winter conditions or diesel
Last time I drove on the highway at around -15 the brake fluid had shrunk from the cold and the brake indicator lit up. The car had become all white from the salt, gave it a good cleaning after that
How did you manage to save it from rust all these decades, given the amount of salt they sprinkle on the roads?
What I like to do is Covering the grill of the motor so the cold wind does not cool the engine that much it helps
For sure is quite common here especially for modern cars.
What kind of dog is that? Are those bred for winter weather? He's cute! Also that car is a tank!
The inside feels similar to my 1990 Saab 900, I bet this is a pleasure to drive
probably confy seats as well
auto gearbox though🥲
-40 is not extreme. In Yakutia -60, here is the extreme. Your eyes may stick together from the cold.
best Mercedes ever made.
you will maybe have to change your cabin air fan soon, same sqeaking in my w202, but not a shame at this mileage. mine went out roughly at 140000km
This is probably the only time I've seen the temp gauge go down as the car is driving, especially on an old merc
If Mercedes would build these titans nowadays, they would sell like fresh bread from a bakery.
I usually hate cold weather. But its views like this 1:52 when the sun comes up that you can forgive the cold weather.
I'm surprised that the engine gets warm without a plate in front of the oil cooler. at -40 degrees :D
Nice video. What engine is that ?
Ha ha, I have exactly the same noise coming from the ventilation!!
Seems to have been standard Mercedes noise at least since 1995 every other W212 and so on I had share it also during could season 😁
Norway is very nice, I very like.
I like your car
What viskosity do you use for motoroil in Winter? Thank you. Great car, great dog!👍🐶
5W-40 full synthetic 365 for this ride. Thanks!
The first winter as an adult in 2010-2011 was really cold. It was often 37 degrees below zero in the morning. That winter I had a W124 300D manual, 1987. But here is very beautiful views! I saw this is in Sweden but where?
They doing good in the cold weather for sure! 300D is a good one. Sweden Kiruna!
@@MB_124 Я имел опыт с авто из Швеции и могу утверждать, что в вашей стране много хорошо сохранившихся авто 80-90-х годов.
Great car
God I really need to move to Sweden in the future
your video is super cool... literally:)
Very cool and interesting video!
Heater must work well, if you got stuck you may be in danger ...? maybe? Dunno how that works.
Heater doing really good more or less like a normal -10 day! Yess if car brake down is not good, but usually you can stop some other driver and they help if that’s the case.
Nice video!
I think you should try to put styrofoam in front of radiator to keep engine warm while driving. Sometimes it drops under 80 degrees, but in these conditions would be better to keep it warm.
